Experienced ease in automation with strong support while seeking improvements in low-code options
OpenText Functional Testing Lab for Mobile and Web offers flexibility of deployment, from on-premises to UFT One which is on the cloud. They provide capability for immediate deployment, and assets can be migrated easily. They include enablers specifically for quick migration of test assets. While I have not personally been involved in these migrations, I have observed some clients using it directly while others make a complete shift from OpenText to Tricentis platforms. There have not been many clients moving from OpenText platforms from on-premises to cloud because most shifts have been toward different product categories such as Tricentis altogether.

Has reduced manual testing effort with customization options but occasionally crashes during complex executions
One improvement would be to integrate it with modern technologies such as AI, so we can generate test cases by providing the details so that it can generate the structure, and later the person working can modify and enhance it. We can add more customized tools, and reporting can be enhanced. Currently, the reporting part is at a step level, and it does not give details for a particular test case, so improvements in those areas would be beneficial. There are performance issues where the tool crashes sometimes. In particular use cases with numerous steps, it experiences crashes. I have encountered stability and performance issues with it.

"The most valuable feature of this solution is virtualization."
"ROI is definitely present with OpenText Functional Testing Lab for Mobile and Web; these are very capable tools, and there is no reason ROI should be a challenge."
"This is a solution that's easy to use and it also gives us the possibility to use real devices connected either on the Mobile Center server or on our own computers and it works with both iOS and Android devices."
"For automation testing, the tool provides the record and playback option, which helps with object detection easily."
"Parasoft SOAtest improves the quality of the application, increases security and security compliance, and it is a cost-effective tool."
"We do a lot of web services testing and REST services testing. That is the focus of this product."
"The solution is scalable."

"Good write and read files which save execution inputs and outputs and can be stored locally."
"SOAtest is, at its base, a collection of tools that can be combined to generate test scenarios, where input data can be gathered from any possible source from web GUIs, databases, Excel, and files and is used in SOAP/REST tools and web browser tools, and the output of those tests can be saved in files and databases, so every imaginable source in the entire world of information technology can be accessed and used."

Cons

"They should introduce a pay-per-use subscription model."
"Because of connection errors, we've haven't yet been able to set it up properly at my company."

"We need to scale devices easily. Some customers would like to loop in AWS or other cloud providers to check if their devices have the cloud factor. OpenText UFT Digital Lab needs to improve it."
"We like to host the tools centrally. We would need them to be multi-tenants, so different projects could log on and have their own set of devices and their own set of apps, and they wouldn't see data from other projects that are using it."
"The product's object detection method needs to be improved since it can help testers do perfect testing."
"However, it is still a young product that is improving leaps and bounds each release."
"UI testing should be more in-depth."
"I was having trouble with the browser automation on my Mac laptop."
"The platform can become unstable as the memory usage increases."
"Reporting facilities can be better."
"The performance could be a bit better."
"The GUI should get a facelift to make it more user-friendly."
"In terms of improvements for Parasoft SOAtest, some features could be added or perhaps existing areas could be improved, such as lowering prices."
"Enabling/disabling an optional element of an XML request is only possible if a data source (e.g., Excel sheet) is connected to the test. Otherwise, the option is not available at all in the drop-down menu."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product could be more affordable."
"While the pricing may seem relatively high, when compared to competitors, it often falls in line or can even be more cost-effective."
"OpenText UFT Digital Lab's pricing is average, and I rate it a five out of ten."
"I think it would be a great step to decrease the price of the licenses."
"From what I understand, Parasoft SOAtest isn't the cheapest option. But it has a lot to offer."
"We are completed satisfied with Parasoft SOAtest. The ROI is more than 95%."
"The price is around $5,000 USD."
"It is an expensive product, so think carefully about whether it fits your purposes and is the right tool for you."
"They do have a confusing licensing structure."
"The cost of Parasoft seems to have gotten higher with a projection that wasn't really stipulated for our company. They've done a tremendous job at negotiating those deals."
"The license price is a little expensive, but it provides a better outcome in terms of the end-to-end automation process."
