Manages hybrid infrastructure seamlessly with flexible cluster scaling and comprehensive oversight
The most important aspect of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is that it helps us manage the infrastructure as a hyperconverged infrastructure in HCI mode. If I have different physical servers, I can map them into a cluster and manage the storage together. It provides flexibility to make use of storage in a clustered format instead of using it in an individual storage endpoint. We have the flexibility to have Nutanix-based licensing based on the core model, instead of having a specific cost on the cluster. The costing on a core model gives customers flexibility to add multiple cores to a single physical host and adjust the infrastructure accordingly, and we can scale up the cluster as needed. While other cloud providers, AWS or Azure, are mostly into cloud-based solutions, and Azure has introduced Azure Stack HCI for managing on-premises infrastructure, Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) provides flexibility from day one. We can manage both on-premises and Azure solutions using a single pane of glass, eliminating the need to navigate different windows or screens. It provides a comprehensive view of the infrastructure and highlights specific areas through alerts, giving us good visibility of infrastructure conditions.

Has reduced repair cycles by optimizing MRO workflows through Gantt and heatmap features
I use the solution for manufacturing orchestration for MRO, specifically for anticipating missing parts and simulating maintenance plans It has helped reduce repair cycles drastically. I find the Treeview Gantt, Escalation Room with heatmap, and the simplicity for MRO to be valuable features.…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the ability to automate. Nutanix has made it really easy to automate everything that we do. That's important to me and our organization. We can get more done every day by automating tasks."
"We save a lot of time with Calm. It has enabled our company to develop and deploy applications faster and it has reduced the time it takes us to QA applications."
"The most valuable features of this solution are visibility, the single console, capacity planning, the VM efficiencies. We have a recovery plan, security, policies policy security. That's why we implement it with your customers."
"The biggest lesson I've learned using this solution is how easy it is to empower users to achieve what they need to achieve."
"As I see in this current scenario and today, Nutanix cost and pricing is lower than the different OEM or vendor options."
"Cost Governance helps customers improve cloud performance and save money."
"Moreover, the deployment process was so easy and smooth that post rack and stack and management IP configuration, it just took less than 2 days to configure the cluster of 40 nodes, upgrade the firmware, create file service and VM space and integrate with our infrastructure."
"One of the solution's greatest strengths is its "Single pane of glass" feature, which allows users to access all pertinent data in one location immediately upon logging in. Additionally, the solution's ease of deployment and mobility are notable aspects that I personally find appealing."
"It has helped reduce repair cycles drastically."

Cons

"The impact of the Runbooks feature on automating our IT processes with Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) hasn't been significant yet."
"Even though it's a lot easier, it could be a bit slicker for the end-users."
"You can set up DHCP but it's a little bit clunky. I wish they would streamline and centralize the management of DHCP."
"I would rate NCM's stability at five out of 10."
"Initial setup can be complex and requires professional services."
"Compatibility with multiple clouds and a single control would help us."
"LCM could be our second favorite feature right up there with One-Click Upgrades if it worked as smoothly but we have had a few issues with LCM but those appear to have been related to OEM hardware vendor not in sync with Nutanix software, not sure how this could be improved in the future."
"If you're still running tiered architecture for the storage, it would be good to give stats on the amount of data that is warehoused in the cold tier versus the hot tier."
"There is room for improvement in bringing its agentic early adoption program to production for all users."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is less compared to Hyper-V."
"Nutanix costs more than Hyper-V, but the price is reasonable for the features we're getting. We have better support, analytics, reporting, and other capabilities that we didn't have before. That is more than enough to justify the cost. The hardware we purchased from Nutanix was priced fairly. The primary costs are software and support. It's a subscription-based service, which can be bad or good, depending on how you look at that. For me, it makes perfect sense. We get regular updates and can get support when we need it."
"Its price is correct."
"Nutanix changes its licensing models frequently, and it is difficult to figure out how and what is included in which package."
"In my opinion, Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is expensive."
"We primarily work with mid-level customers in India rather than enterprise clients. These mid-level customers are interested in services that are priced more moderately. In comparison, Nutanix's pricing is significantly higher than that of other setups. As a result, we have approximately 3,000 customers using VMware, while Nutanix has around 1,800 customers."
"We have the ultimate license, so I don't know what it would cost individually."
"Compared to UCS and the NetApp storage, Nutanix is actually cheaper."
