Reliable multi-platform backups have protected diverse servers and virtual libraries
Quest NetVault can improve in the area of Office 365 backups. Two years ago, I purchased the Office 365 plug-in or leased it for a year, and I have never been able to have a solid backup of Office 365 using Quest NetVault. I have resorted to a different solution specifically for Office 365 backups. It is not that it never works, but it fails so many times that it is not production-ready. On a weekly basis, I encounter problems and have to restart jobs or figure out what is wrong and then run it again. It simply needs to run as all the other Quest NetVault jobs do. If tomorrow there was a brand new Quest NetVault and I had the option to add something to make my life easier, besides improving the Office 365 backup, I would like to see that Quest Co Store products should be a part of Quest NetVault. They work and interact, but I have the impression it should be one solution.

"Quest NetVault Plus has a high level of stability."
"This product is very useful and cost effective."
"If you are an enterprise, and you need a strong backup solution, Micro Focus is for you."
"Data Protector helps us to maintain data consistency and recover data with minimum downtime."

"Performs the backup properly and protects our data."
"I'm not sure in dollars our ROI, but the system has definitely paid for itself time and time again."

Cons

"The product’s SQL backup plugin needs improvement."
"The license expired without any warning and that caused us some problems."
"Veeam is the product that I can compare to NetVault Plus. I think Veeam Backup is better for VMware backup."
"There are certain issues with the product that we report to Quest, and we get offered a workaround instead of a fix. There could be better interaction with the development teams, perhaps in terms of transparency."
"There are command-line limitations. There is not a very strong possibility to work with the command line."
"I would like to see the option of cloud-based management."
"There's no positive impact that NetVault Plus has brought to my company; I mean, there's no particular benefit I have seen from using it."
"I have never been able to have a solid backup of Office 365 using Quest NetVault; it fails so many times that it is not production-ready."
"Customer Service: It's not good and needs to be improved. Technical Support: It's not good and needs to be improved."
"The level of support is lacking. They need to step up the level of service they offer."
"Many of our users complain about the GUI. You still need to rely on the command line interface. Because it originated as a Unix system, Data Protector is still a command line-driven solution, which makes it seem rather dated compared to systems that are built around a GUI from day one. It doesn't affect the functionality, but some people don't find it user-friendly."
"Other tools seem to be easier to use."
"OpenText Data Protector is not user-friendly, especially for cloud backup."
"In v7, some W2012 clients fail occasionally."
"Recently, clients have raised concerns about the lack of comprehensive documentation for Data Protector."
"Hyper-V backups need improvement so they can do GRE."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"When we purchased four licenses, we were given a very good price. However, it is still on the high side when compared to some other vendors."
"The price of our 12-month contract is approximately $1,500 AUD ($1,100 USD)."
"The tool is expensive."
"There is a perpetual license involved in addition to support which needs to be renewed annually."
"It is fast, reliable, and its licensing policy is great."
"The product is cheaper than Commvault."
"The license for the solution is very expensive compared to the other products in the market."
"The pricing is around $3,000 to $5,000. The charge additionally for support and to scale."
"The pricing is neither too expensive nor very cheap."
"We have many competitors who are pricing better, and we believe that our pricing is higher."
"They have two types of licensing, one is for storage capacity and the other is client licensing. The capacity licensing here is a bit expensive."
