Enhances data protection strategies and ensures the reliability of backups with helpful support
The features we have found most valuable in NAKIVO Backup & Replication include its cost-effectiveness, seamless integrations, comprehensive functionalities, and ease of installation and management. The pricing model is very competitive, providing excellent value for the robust features offered. Its seamless integration with our VMware infrastructure ensures smooth operation without any compatibility issues. The wide range of functionalities, including incremental and full backups, storage optimization, and disaster recovery options, meets all our backup needs comprehensively. Moreover, the simplicity of installation and the intuitive user interface have made it easy for our team to quickly set up and manage the backups without requiring extensive training.
Wesam Qashou - PeerSpot reviewer
A mature backup solution, with many features, and great support
Veritas NetBackup is the first line of defense when disaster strikes. Before performing disaster recovery, we must have a good backup of our image that is also protected from ransomware. This way, we have a golden image that is resilient to ransomware attacks. We saw the benefits of Veritas NetBackup within the first three months.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The backups, especially of the incremental type, are really quick (ranging from five to 10 to 45 to 50 minutes depending on the size of the VM)."
"Nakivo has been instrumental in strengthening our data security infrastructure."
"The user interface in general is very good. I"
"This enables us to do quick granular file recovery as and when required but also to do whole-site relocation in the case of a total loss scenario."
"The product is very scalable, robust, has an easy setup with a short-duration deployment and good technical support."
"The features that we like the most are the Backup Copy and Active Directory Integration. They have helped us to save a lot of time since we do not have to make the backup copies “by hand”."
"The cost aspect and the ease of licensing, along with simplified licensing, are most valuable."
"Nakivo's reporting features have helped a lot. They give my boss high visibility into what's going on, which is crucial because we had a data breach in the past where we lost about 12 years of data. That's why we bought several appliances, and we replicate the same backup twice a day to three different depositories."
"The features are good."
"I can rely on this product if I need a restore."
"It is a good solution. It covers most of the applications."
"The solution is easy to learn."
"Its most valuable features are flexibility and reliability."
"It saves time for the backup needs of our organization."
"The documentation is good."
"Veritas released a new feature in version 8 of NetBackup called VRP. It's kind of like replication management from VMware. The great thing about this feature is that Veritas gave it to us for free."

Cons

"I need no more valuable features for backs-up. I have not yet tried the latest release, however, I have all the features that I need."
"In the press releases, it would be useful to make sure that the manual space reclaim procedure does not have to be performed but that it happens automatically, thus optimizing the use of space."
"Implementing more comprehensive data deduplication and compression techniques could optimize storage utilization and reduce backup times, improving overall efficiency."
"Their product is good and it meets our requirements, however, new features are also most welcome and we never hesitated to try new features."
"There could be better integration with other solutions, such as Amazon S3."
"The process for getting unused diskspace back from the data repository is slow."
"While the solution provides mostly what we need, it would be ideal if there were some additional feature capabilities for the API."
"It is missing the file and folder backup; however, this product is meant for virtual machine backup and recovery, so that is really outside of the scope of the software."
"GUI needs to be more user-friendly."
"The SQL Server backup features are not up to date."
"The ability to use different disk appliance brands as Pure Disk (not OST), such as EMC Data Domain ."
"The reporting of the backups could be better."
"Data restoration from Veritas NetBackup is quite slow. I would also like documentation that I can share with my technical team."
"The deployment time is longer than it is with other products."
"The solution's technical support process should be improved."
"The product needs to improve its GUI. It needs to make use of a web interface."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing currently allows for host-based licensing, which is advantageous if you have a lot of data on a few hosts."
"I advise that this is the best product for medium or small environments according to my cost-benefit analysis."
"It has a very good price in the market."
"I think the price is competitive. However, for some projects, it can be a bit much for price-sensitive small businesses."
"The licensing model is very affordable compared to competitors, with a good quality-to-cost ratio, and the software is quite simple and fast to setup."
"You have a lot of different options when it comes to pricing and the pricing models are pretty flexible and affordable."
"The price is not a problem in NAKIVO, as it is the most competitive in the market."
"The pricing, setup costs, and licensing are easy to understand, no matter how you want to implement it."
"Veritas NetBackup is considerably cheaper than that of Druva, the former being quite affordable."
"Most people have felt this solution was somewhat expensive."
"There is a license required for this solution and it is priced based upon the data used."
"When you compare NetBackup's software licensing system with Veeam's, which is simpler and based on instances (or how many physical machines or virtual machines you want to protect), NetBackup isn't that competitive for smaller scale companies. However, if you're running many large workloads, then NetBackup may be the better option."
"The solution is expensive compared to other products."
"The licensing model is cost-prohibitive as you scale out."
"Our primary complaint about this product is that it is too expensive."
"Acceptable if you need to implement it for larger environments, e.g. over 1000 clients. For smaller setups it might be too expensive."
