Improved cloud visibility has reduced risky sharing and now strengthens data protection
The best features Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps offers, from our perspective, include shadow IT visibility which gives a clear view of all SaaS uses with risk scoring and helps quickly identify unsanctioned apps; the session control feature, which provides real-time control based on user or device risk; and threat detection that helps us detect abnormal behavior such as mass downloads or risky logins across apps. Other features include DLP and OAuth control that protect sensitive data and manage risky third-party app permissions, so overall, what stands out best for us is visibility plus real-time control over cloud apps in one place. A handy feature I would say is the policy templates plus built-in anomaly detection, which saves time and is quick to deploy for common use cases. An underrated feature is the integration with Conditional Access for real-time session controls, which works very well in practice.
