Managing application health has become simpler but new monitoring features still need faster delivery
I use application discovery and dependency mapping. It helps with managing application health What I like about ManageEngine Applications Manager is the ease of use and ease of deployment. I cannot remember anything specific for future updates of the product. The new features take a lot of time…

Have faced limitations due to high costs but have maintained reliability over time
The primary issue is the pricing, which is very expensive for my company's budget. We cannot afford to pay such a large fee. We are not Microsoft or BMW; we are a small company. As a small company, I have no power to negotiate directly with VMware. Perhaps larger companies have more opportunity to contract directly with VMware, but I do not have that leverage. The only path I can follow is to change solutions. Net.spA is a company working in the field of waste management. We are not a technological company, so we do not have a large margin to justify purchasing and maintaining the VMware infrastructure at current costs.

Pros

"Applications Manager helps businesses ensure their revenue-critical applications meet end user expectations."
"Price is the big issue here in Pakistan and they offer a very good price."
"ManageEngine Applications Manager's installation is pretty easy."
"I am impressed with the tool's reporting feature which is simple."
"What I like most about ManageEngine Applications Manager is its price point, apart from its technicalities. The solution is cheaper than its competitors. ManageEngine Applications Manager has helpful documentation that makes setting it up straightforward."
"I found Application Manager better than other products, including Solarwinds, because there are so manys option in Application Manager that makes it unique, such as supporting all servers, networks, cloud systems etc."
"The initial setup was straightforward, without complexity."
"We do not have pricing constraints as an organization, because we do have reservations about ManageEngine being functionally scalable."
"The most valuable feature is being able to see what's actually going on, down to the VMware storage level, and the fact that it can give you a suggested change and explain why."
"We receive an overview from the dashboard of what is happening in our environment."
"It gives us deep insight into the entire VDI environment, where we have of over 18,000 VDIs. It helps us keep up on uptime, gives us real-time monitoring, tracking, and troubleshooting."
"I like that it's integrated with the other suite of tools. That's a big plus for the tool. It's well-integrated with Log Insight. We use that integration quite a bit."
"I recommend it; I think it’s a good choice."
"It is easy to drill down directly to the root cause of a problem. It goes from network to storage and having access to all the metrics. When you run 100 percent virtual, then everything is in one tool."
"It's become a lot simpler."
"There are many valuable features. The top feature is historical trending analysis and future workload predictions. There's a workload forecaster/predictor model in there and it's very helpful for capacity planning."

Cons

"The information provided by ManageEngine is not deep-dive like IBM and CA provide."
"My suggestion for improving this feature is to also monitor the end-user experience for application clients and servers."
"They can improve the post-processing of the data."
"At the moment, we are not finding this solution to be very stable. We've had a lot of calls with the vendor to sort things out."
"One area of improvement is the dashboard should be more readable and available."
"It can’t be configured to store APM Insight data for more than one month."
"One area of improvement is the dashboard should be more readable and available."
"They could probably rearrange the UI so that it would be easy for people who are new to the Application Manager to configure things."
"For me, more examples of the configuration of the solution in specific use cases would be better."
"I know that they talk a lot about AI and a sort of forecasting ahead of time. It's a good application, but it has to wait for a certain period of time to actually do an analysis."
"vRLI still needs a lot of improvement to even start comparing with the market leader, Splunk, in terms of data analysis and customized charts/reports generation."
"In vCenter 6.7, there are themes. I would like to see that add to vRealize Operations as well."
"It doesn't. No benefits."
"Even though the setup was kind of straightforward, getting the lay of the land was at times kind of confusing; I don't know if that's an indictment on me or the software."
"Also, it is very CPU intensive."
"One thing I don't like is, all the scales are self-referencing. So when I get a number one, is that one out of ten, one out of a hundred? I don't know. So I can say these servers are performing ten times better than that server but I don't know where the scale goes."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its price is good."
"ManageEngine Applications Manager has reasonable pricing. It's more affordable than other solutions in the market. My company has an instance-based license for ManageEngine Applications Manager. You can purchase a yearly subscription or a perpetual license. The standard license covers most features, but you can still have some paid add-ons."
"The solution is noted for its cost-effectiveness, a crucial consideration for potential users."
"The cost of this solution is not too bad, although it could be cheaper considering what you're getting for the price."
"The licensing costs for ManageEngine Applications Manager are around $1,200 per year. For additional monitors, you have to pay extra."
"The annual licensing depends on the number of monitors you have connected. Once you get to two hundred monitors you can see the price reflect."
"The solution's licensing costs are yearly."
"It is a cost-effective solution."
"vRealize Operations has proved to be a cost effective solution for our big environment."
"It is an affordable solution that doesn't require any additional costs."
"There has been a bit of cost savings in that we could decide to move workloads around a bit better."
"When we last did a comparison of solutions, the pricing was equal or similar."
"If the VMs were trimmed, then we wouldn't have to buy as much software/hardware, and this means less licenses. While most of it is VMware licenses, which are relatively cheap, there are SQL licenses for Microsoft, and this is where we could start saving a lot of money."
"The pricing is a little bit expensive. Licensing is an issue because there are always changes, and by that I mean cost increases. And that's not only for vROps but for VMware, vSphere, and all the products that are involved."
"The license is a one time cost, and you pay for support on a yearly basis. It is a bit expensive, but if you consider the product support and its reliability, it's justifiable."
"The licensing is not clear at the moment if the on-premises pricing is the same as on the cloud. I am checking on the pricing. However, you can save a lot of money with the cloud solution because you need to spend time installing, upgrading, and connecting with the on-premises solution. Also, you don't need to spend time scheduling the maintenance and maintaining the solution when using the cloud version."
