Managing application health has become simpler but new monitoring features still need faster delivery
I use application discovery and dependency mapping. It helps with managing application health What I like about ManageEngine Applications Manager is the ease of use and ease of deployment. I cannot remember anything specific for future updates of the product. The new features take a lot of time…

Real-time monitoring has improved our banking API performance and supports detailed business transaction analysis
The real-time monitoring is what we can see for anything that is needed in terms of CPU, memory, or the connections or the sessions related. It's real-time monitoring of performance of each of the components, which is what we need and use all the time. It's highly effective, I would say. Infrastructure visibility, transaction monitoring, to check the actual user experience in terms of the response time, MRT and all those things. We do the component monitoring like the API performance and the connections and all those things, but we also do the business process monitoring and business transaction monitoring.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the ability to be able to monitor Kubernetes."
"The initial setup was straightforward, without complexity."
"Its price and the flexibility to deploy are the most valuable. Flexibility is very important, and you can scale from very basic to more complex. This solution is a part of a complete suite of management tools. So, it can be integrated with other solutions for monitoring networks, which is very important. You can expand it or interconnect it with many other tools, which is a powerful feature. We have a very good and long relationship with ManageEngine support guys. They provide very good support for us."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is its ease of use."
"We do not have pricing constraints as an organization, because we do have reservations about ManageEngine being functionally scalable."
"Depending on the size of the environment, this is a solution that I recommend."
"ManageEngine Applications Manager's installation is pretty easy."
"ManageEngine Applications Manager maintains the historical data and it's easy for us to analyze the trends and patterns and fix them accordingly."
"This is purely an application instrumentation and monitoring tool with good features for business analytics."
"The feature that is most valuable to us is the snapshot feature. It allows us to get a snapshot of different SQL scripts that are being executed simultaneously and we can identify everything we need on them."
"The good thing with AppDynamics Databases is that it will give you a pretty good overview of the data, all the database-like tables, long-running queries, jobs running on the databases, and the queries that are taking more time. So, it's at a deeper level with all the database functionalities, and you will get that information. So, it's a pretty good tool in that sense."
"Splunk AppDynamics is useful for helping my clients improve business resilience."
"The business transactions feature has helped us stay current with the trends in traffic, and we were able to separate successful transactions from non-successful transactions, such as transactions with 200 error codes and 500 error codes, which has been very beneficial to us."
"Server Monitoring has saved us time."
"The transaction snapshots are the most valuable feature of AppDynamics"
"Application Analytics reduces the average time it takes to repair performance problems and improves cooperation between different IT departments."

Cons

"The main issue with ManageEngine is that it only functions as a record-keeping system, it has never had an IT framework in place."
"Even with the top-notch dashboard, it could be made stronger in order to have an additional plug-in for analytics."
"I would like the solution to improve the ability to track services."
"The dashboards in the interface need a lot of work."
"Even with the top-notch dashboard, it could be made stronger with an additional plug-in for analytics."
"They can improve the post-processing of the data. AppDynamics has more powerful tools for post-processing or analytics. It has some limitations in more complex environments, but because we are free to use different solutions, we try to find what is best for the customers or the problem we are trying to solve."
"The information provided by ManageEngine is not deep-dive like IBM and CA provide."
"Lacks an SIEM solution which can be found in other products."
"They do not have robust documentation."
"Analytics SQL statement monitoring"
"Based on the user experience feedback that we have had, I think that the most important thing to improve is the availability of the SaaS, the cloud environment."
"The solution has performance issues after we deploy the agent."
"The granularity of historic data could be improved."
"If it can be able to intelligently provide all the things we need to look at, from a data point of view, that would be very useful."
"The one thing that I find it difficult in using AppDynamics is, for any new user, it's not easy for him or her to configure the transactions in AppDynamics because the UI is pretty complex. The configuration is pretty complex for a new, fresh user. They can make the UI simpler, that'll be very helpful for anyone to configure their website in AppDynamics."
"AppDynamics is dealing with a lot of products and technologies, so we need to have clear documentation."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The annual licensing depends on the number of monitors you have connected. Once you get to two hundred monitors you can see the price reflect."
"Price-wise, it is a cheap tool...The solution's licensing model is subscription-based, in which yearly payments are to be made."
"Its price is good."
"The cost of this solution is not too bad, although it could be cheaper considering what you're getting for the price."

You can purchase a yearly subscription or a perpetual license. The standard license covers most features, but you can still have some paid add-ons."
"AppDynamics Server Monitoring is an expensive solution."
