ROI

Sentiment score
8.0
LogRhythm SIEM boosts ROI, visibility, and security compliance, offering cost-effective risk management and productivity benefits, especially for medium enterprises.
Sentiment score
6.5
Splunk Enterprise Security enhances visibility, improves error resolution, automates processes, and integrates well, though ROI assessment can be challenging.
Sentiment score
3.2
In-house teams claim McAfee offers high ROI, but executives struggle to see it without C-level focused reports.
The documentation for Splunk Enterprise Security is outstanding. It is well-organized and easy to access.
I have noticed a return on investment with Splunk Enterprise Security, as it delivers substantial value for money.
Customers see the value in investing in this solution, particularly when it helps resolve issues quickly, turning a potential 20-hour response into one hour.

Customer Service

Sentiment score
6.9
LogRhythm SIEM's support is knowledgeable and responsive, though consistency and initial response times need improvement.
Sentiment score
6.4
Splunk Enterprise Security support is knowledgeable but occasionally slow, with mixed efficiency reviews and valuable community resources.
Sentiment score
4.3
Trellix ESM customer service is generally satisfactory, but technical support varies with noted delays and skill gaps.
The technical support is good; we have a separate portal for partners, and since we are paying for the service, they provide a response timeframe based on severity—critical issues are addressed within four hours, medium issues within one day, and non-urgent issues may take a couple of days.
Customer support is very helpful and effectively solves my problems.
We have paid for Splunk support, and we’re not on the free tier hoping for assistance; we are a significant customer and invest a lot in this service.
If you want to write your own correlation rules, it is very difficult to do, and you need Splunk's support to write new correlation rules for the SIEM tool.
They try to close issues as soon as possible, often just offering documentation links.
I would rate support for Trellix ESM 10 out of 10 because if we connect with the support in the UK, we get excellent support.
It's rare for me to need them unless it's an issue with licensing, and they are the best in that regard.

Scalability Issues

Sentiment score
7.6
LogRhythm SIEM is praised for its strong scalability and effectiveness in accommodating expanding demands across diverse environments.
Sentiment score
7.5
Splunk Enterprise Security offers scalable, flexible solutions handling large data volumes effortlessly, though cost concerns persist, especially on-premise.
Sentiment score
8.6
Trellix ESM is highly scalable and adaptable, excelling in enterprise environments but may have limitations for medium enterprises.
LogRhythm SIEM is highly scalable as it has modular components allowing me to expand storage, indexing, or other resources as needed.
LogRhythm SIEM is scalable; it can handle about 200 or 500 devices without much difference.
They struggle a bit with pure virtual environments, but in terms of how much they can handle, it is pretty good.
It is easy to scale.
It's big in a Central European context, and small from a Splunk North American context.
Scalability is quite easier with Trellix ESM, because all we need to do is add more receivers to it, so it can go to any point.

Stability Issues

Sentiment score
4.4
LogRhythm SIEM is generally stable, reliable, and efficient, with some performance issues resolved through updates and proper resource allocation.
Sentiment score
7.6
Splunk Enterprise Security is stable and resilient, though resource-heavy queries can cause occasional bugs, needing optimized use cases.
Sentiment score
8.3
Trellix ESM is generally stable with effective support, though some users experience bugs and interruptions affecting reliability.
The platform needs regular updates to fix problems encountered with each quarterly patch and version release.
They test it very thoroughly before release, and our customers have Splunk running for months without issues.
It provides a stable environment but needs to integrate with ITSM platforms to achieve better visibility.
I would rate it a ten out of ten for stability.

Room For Improvement

LogRhythm SIEM needs better integration, UI improvements, enhanced reports, and Linux-based support for efficiency and tool integration.
Splunk Enterprise Security users desire improved GUI, integration, pricing, training, data handling, and advanced features for better efficiency.
Trellix ESM requires stability, HTML5 migration, and upgrades in customization, integration, support, usability, and AI for improved functionality.
I have noticed some problems with parsing errors, event mismatches, and data mismatching, so ensuring accurate parsing and continuous improvement according to device updates are my basic expectations as a detection engineer.
A more user-friendly user interface with drag-and-drop features, similar to key competitors like Splunk, would be beneficial.
Improving the infrastructure behind Splunk Enterprise Security is vital—enhanced cores, CPUs, and memory should be prioritized to support better processing power.
Splunk Enterprise Security is not something that automatically picks things; you have to set up use cases, update data models, and link the right use cases to the right data models for those detections to happen.
For any future enhancements or features, such as MLTK and SOAR platform integration, we need more visibility, training, and certification for the skilled professionals who are working.
If there is any device which is not covered, there should not be any additional charges for writing the custom parsers on that.

Setup Cost

LogRhythm SIEM offers competitive pricing with comprehensive features, though scalability and additional features may increase costs.
Splunk Enterprise Security is costly but valued for features and scalability, with pricing concerns for smaller businesses.
Trellix ESM offers flexible, slightly costly licensing, valued for its SOC features, with straightforward setup and deployment.
The license cost is around $10 per MPS.
I find LogRhythm SIEM affordable, as it is a bit less costly than QRadar.
I saw clients spend two million dollars a year just feeding data into the Splunk solution.
The platform requires significant financial investment and resources, making it expensive despite its comprehensive features.
I find it to be affordable, which is why every industry uses it.

Valuable Features

LogRhythm SIEM excels in threat detection, user-friendly interface, and integration, offering centralized logs and customizable alerts.
Splunk Enterprise Security excels in log management, data ingestion, and integration, enhancing security operations with user-friendly features.
Trellix ESM excels in real-time threat detection, user-friendly interface, quick deployment, and strong integration with other technologies.
The seamless integration for case management, along with a user-friendly dashboard user interface, makes tasks like threat hunting more efficient.
We have enough budget for cloud deployment, but we choose to keep it on-prem to ensure data privacy; cyberattacks are a concern, but data privacy is the foremost priority due to sensitive government information.
This capability is useful for performance monitoring and issue identification.
I assess Splunk Enterprise Security's insider threat detection capabilities for helping to find unknown threats and anomalous user behavior as great.
Splunk Enterprise Security provides the foundation for unified threat detection, investigation, and response, enabling fast identification of critical issues.
The weakest point is it doesn't cover almost all the devices, so the customer has to be more dependent on the parsers to be written by the Professional Services team.

User-friendly dashboard and machine learning capabilities improve threat hunting efficiency
LogRhythm SIEM has strong machine-learning capabilities with behavioral rules and analysis. The seamless integration for case management, along with a user-friendly dashboard user interface, makes tasks like threat hunting more efficient. Analytics and behavioral analysis help me save time with rule creation. Its scalability allows me to add components as needed. Overall, LogRhythm SIEM offers end-to-end visibility with a reasonable price.

Has many predefined correlation rules and is brilliant for investigation and log analysis
It is very complicated to write your own correlation rules without the help of Splunk support. What Splunk could do better is to create an API to the standard SIEM tools, such as Microsoft Sentinel. The idea would be to make it less painful. In ELK Stack, Kibana is the query language with which you can search log files. I believe Splunk has also a query language in which they search their log files, but once you have identified the log file that you want to use for further security correlation, you want to very quickly transport that into your SIEM tool, such as Microsoft Sentinel. That is something that Splunk could make a little bit less painful because it is a lot of effort to find that log file and forward it. An API with Microsoft Sentinel or a similar SIEM tool would be a good idea.

Helps to monitor and detect cyberattacks
The tool's effectiveness depends on how you define your log sources. To build visibility of incoming and outgoing traffic, you need logs from perimeter defense, firewalls, web application firewalls, and endpoint protection. With good traffic visibility, incident response time is really quick. Trellix ESM provides situation awareness. On the dashboard, I can see outbound and inbound communications to known threat hosts, IPS/IDS activity, and threat intelligence of the perimeter defense in the firewall. This information helps preempt attacks.

Hello , As someone who worked with Splunk, Arcsight and Qradar. I am sorry but you cant compare between those two . IBM QRADAR works great with 100 eps and with 100000 eps. IBM Qradar analyze not only logs but Traffic, Policey's, Vulnerabilities, OSINT Data and integrates them all into a single quilty event which made the analysis factor and easter Risk management Risk assessment. Even in an SM...

Its is now an easy and clear answer. It depends on the environment, the integration needed, and the staff expertise. IBM is usually a better solution for large/very large installations and integration. But it requires much more staff and skills. But for smaller environments Splunk and LogRhytm is better. McAfee is correctly rated against others. So the answer is YES/AGREE for large installations. And NO/DISAGREE for smaller ones.

Hi, I disgree for SME installation since Q1 is usually on a large scale installation. While expertise on the product is still needed including integration with other security platforms. Splunk/LogRythm is good for Network correlation only not focusing much on the security area. McAfee is ok for both SME and Enterprise whilst expertise should also be considered as they have an easy and available tool for integration with their ticketing system, IPS, and AV. Hope this helps. Cheers, Lilet
