Manufacturing planning has become efficient and supports integrated shop floor and quality control
For manufacturing, Infor LX is very strong on the MRP side with MRP and MPS capabilities, and even shop floor functionality. The platform has quality control features, and there are many additional features available. There is also integration with finance. Overall, for manufacturing, it is very good. There are many modules that have been implemented including inbound, outbound, and logistics. Primarily for manufacturing and the processing side, everything is excellent. It's a solid, proven product. Infor LX's material planning feature is quite a flexible solution.

Valuable features enhance sales and service capabilities while performance improvements are needed
We received a few complaints about the slowness in SAP Business ByDesign last year, so I think SAP can focus on improving performance, particularly when it becomes slow during data saving and handling. My feedback about the modular architecture and customized features of SAP Business ByDesign is that it is only good, but we have not explored much on this one. The initial setup for SAP Business ByDesign was complex. One disadvantage was that we had the legacy system, SAP Business One, and we could not migrate our data to SAP Business ByDesign. They should have provided a migration path.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The most important feature of Infor LX for me is the use of models for accounting, which create effects in different layers simultaneously."
"Infor LX has helped us in conducting efficient production planning, streamlining procurement processes, and maintaining a reliable source of information for our vendors and procurement purchase orders."
"The most valuable features are the exit points that enable integration with external software."
"Mainly for manufacturing and processing, everything is excellent."
"One of the things I love about Infor LX is that everything is integrated."
"I've been using it since December 2009, and it has been absolutely stable till now."
"This solution has brought structure and shape to our day-to-day operations."
"Infor LX's most valuable feature is that it's very interactive."
"I have found the consolidation of the business and group reports very useful, there are plenty of features, and the manufacturing and finance aspect of the solution are strong."
"The most valuable features of SAP Business ByDesign are customer invoicing and cost and revenue, from which I get the data for my project reports."
"Now we can know our available stock; this visibility enables us to make better resource and supply chain operations decisions as well as better financial decisions."
"It could be used for any financial use case; production companies can use it, wholesale distributors can use it, and any professional services company can use it."
"When comparing SAP Business ByDesign to much larger ERP solutions, such as SAP ECC 6.0 or SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business ByDesign is more user-friendly and easier to implement."
"ByDesign's best features are its speed, real-time data, and reporting."
"The standard system is stable."
"The stability has been great, and compared to other products that I have used before, they have been doing really well with stability."

Cons

"Infor needs more APIs, as in the current version, APIs are not fully developed. The development of APIs must be enhanced, especially for AS400."
"It's based on AS/400 or Power i, a robust technology and platform. However, it is harder to manage admin most of the time."
"Infor has now stopped and drastically reduced investing in this product."
"The interface needs enhancement, as I am still using outdated screens. I would benefit from a more integrated interface."
"From a supporting point of view, Infor LX is not quite what I see with SAP and other areas."
"The user interface of Infor LX needs significant enhancement to be more user-friendly."
"Infor's support side is not that good, and they seem to be focusing on other products above LX."
"It lacks in finance and administration, especially related to Italian accounting."
"With SAP S/4HANA, you can design your release strategy and modify it to include as many people as possible, which is missing in SAP Business ByDesign."
"The solution could improve the stability. It is approximately 60% stable."
"SAP Business ByDesign can improve the flexibility and user-friendliness of the reporting during the implementations. Customizing the reports inside the device requires a lot of knowledge and most of the time a developer level is needed. For example, if you want to have a more specific reporting layout."
"There might be some hurdles when integrating with SAP ECC, but integration with SAP S/4HANA Cloud is smooth."
"The Arabic localization is neglected. It should have an Arabic interface. It lacks Arabic translation or support from right to left."
"There is room for improvement in the reporting capability. To use it properly, you need intensive IT support. You cannot write your own reports."
"The solution does not support customization for forms and reports. It's not flexible in case you need some enhancements in business processes."
"SAP Business ByDesign is a very vast product, but it has to be a bit more centralized. All the models need to be more centralized for a better experience."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Infor LX is not cheap but much cheaper compared to SAP HANA."
"Pricing is variable due to different deals and discounts, typically starting at around $2000 US dollars for one license."
"Our last maintenance fee was around $15,000 a year for 33 current users."
"The tool’s pricing is expensive."
"Everything is included in the licensing cost of the solution. However, they use a per-user model for additional charges."
"We have to pay yearly."
"The price of SAP Business ByDesign is less expensive than SAP S/4HANA. However, the price is on par with other similar competitors, such as Microsoft."
"The tool’s subscription is yearly. There is no flat pricing involved and everything has a range. Pricing depends on the functionality that you would use. You need to also pay for the additional hosting and maintenance costs."
"I rate the price of SAP Business ByDesign a seven out of ten."
"The pricing depends on company size. It's cheaper for small companies and more expensive for large ones."
"The cost starts anywhere between fifty thousand dollars and up depending on the number of licenses."
