They deliver a canned, scalable solution, but I would like to see the TSA scripts available publicly.

Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics could improve their pricing structure. They currently have two separate pricing tiers: full log and partial log. I suggest they implement a single price and reduce charges on logs. They could implement a cap with some free tier or price tier based on the GBs of log collected. This would help customers use Azure more effectively. Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics is an excellent product because it includes both SIEM and orchestration capabilities with playbooks, but the log management part is very costly. Regarding future improvements, I would appreciate more application connectors for integration, particularly for on-premise based solutions. Many customers still maintain on-premise infrastructure, so having more integration possibilities for these environments would be beneficial.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"With a solid DB2 foundation, it performs incredibly and I recently implemented the new BLU Acceleration, and was dumbfounded that hour-long queries took minutes, in the correct scenario, of course."
"It is a highly stable solution and it's easy to use."
"I like how Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics integrates with other Microsoft solutions."
"The setup is pretty simple."
"The solution offers strong scalability opportunities."
"The initial setup process is straightforward."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics is its integration with the new legacy systems, where whatever application we want to integrate, we receive the reports based on the objects and the solution is easy to purchase from the cloud."
"Its seamless integration with Azure services is most valuable. If somebody wants to use all Azure services, it is the best solution."
"The whole solution is interesting for us."

Cons

"The HA - it's a good solution, but I feel IBM should provide the necessary scripts so you can destroy the TSA domain and rebuild it easily."
"With respect to what needs to be improved, concurrent connectivity has some limitations."
"I would like to see more ready-to-use products from Synapse. Right now, everything seems a bit futuristic without much modern use."
"The major pro of Synapse is the service, and the major con is that when you decide to move out of Synapse, you would have to rewrite the entire thing, whereas, with Snowflake, it would be just simple migration to different cloud providers."
"It would be helpful if the documentation was better or if the company could provide some kind of presentation to help us understand how the tool works and what's required to optimize use of the solution."
"The linked services can be improved. We can create dynamic linked services to access a lot of databases but only those of the same type. For example, I can use the same linked services to access 11 SQL databases. However, if I have 11 SQL databases and five Oracle databases, I need two dynamic linked services. I cannot do it with only one linked service. The UI also needs to be improved. When I have used Azure Synapse for programming with PySpark, Scala, or .NET, for example, the UI has been unstable. If I open two notebooks for programming, one notebook will queue the session of the other."
"They should automate some of the features. There are some things, such as the creation of external tables, that you have to do manually. They should be automated."
"There is a limit on the number of concurrent queries to around 125 for Azure Synapse."
"One area that could be improved is the schema management."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"When we are not using this solution we can simply shut it down saving us costs, which is a nice advantage."
"The cost of the licensing depends on the size of the warehouse, where the cost of storage is approximately $130 USD per terabyte."
"All of the prices are available online."
"Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics is a moderately priced solution."
"It goes by the usage, and there are some limits. Synapse goes by particular pricing, and it is expensive. Both Azure Synapse Analytics and Snowflake are pretty expensive. They don't have standard pricing. They deal with each customer differently."
"I'm not sure of the exact cost, however, it is around $100,000 a year."
"The solution is expensive at the enterprise level."
"Its price could be better. It was a school project, and I got it for free. If I try to pay through my company, it is a little bit more expensive as compared to Oracle."
