A stable and scalable tool that serves as a great database
The initial setup of HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric is easy. I am not sure how long it took to deploy HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric, but I haven't heard about any disadvantages when it comes to the time taken for the deployment. I remember that one of our company's clients who had purchased the product never mentioned the product's setup phase being complex. One of the drawbacks with HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric stems from the fact that the product's upgrade was not straightforward, and it was a complex process since one of the teams in my company who deals with the tool found the upgrade part to be tough. The solution is deployed on an on-premises model. My company has two dedicated staff members to look after the deployment and maintenance phases of HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric.

Integrated business processes have improved real-time analytics and financial performance
Whether I or my customers utilize SAP HANA's real-time analytics depends on the data needed to be displayed, and then choosing how to transfer the data to the analytic object, data source, or database to be displayed in the reports. It may be near real-time, real-time, or running batch every day. There are tools for integration between third-party systems, such as OData or APIs from SAP to get in or push data to other systems. Support for both structured and unstructured data helps organizations unify data sources depending on the needed data to be displayed. There are many ways to store it for report displays, but structured data will be better than unstructured data.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"MapR is a great distribution, although I have limited experience with other distributors."
"This product enabled us opening up endless possibilities in data analytics, IOE/IOT, and predictive analysis."
"The fact that the heavy computation is required on Big Data can be distributed across many nodes in a cluster, makes this solution a winner."
"My customers find the product cheaper compared to other solutions. The previous solution that we used did not have unified analytics like the runtime or the analog."
"HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric can be accessed from any namespace globally as you would access it from a machine using an NFS."
"Outside of human error, MapR is probably the most stable of the major releases."
"Our customer purchased a paid support service and so far MapR has addressed our issues well."
"The model creation was very interesting, especially with the libraries provided by the platform."
"The solution is extremely stable. That's the most important aspect of the solution, for our organization. There is no downtime, and the performance is very good."
"The in-memory database is a good and valuable feature."
"The product's initial setup phase was really easy."
"It's made everything faster."
"We've had good experiences with technical support."
"Using this solution has given us better details for reporting and analytics."
"It's easy to use, and the Hana Studio is pretty good."
"It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution."

Cons

"The interface part, what I'm calling the integration part, could be improved."
"The product is not user-friendly."
"The deployment could be faster. I want more support for the data lake in the next release."
"HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric is not compatible with third-party tools."
"One weakness for MapR is the Kerberos support."
"Installations and setups are still a bit cryptic and can be improved."
"It would be nice to have new developments in the Apache space (Spark, Storm, etc.)."
"The biggest drawback is that it has vendor locking."
"SAP HANA isn't user-friendly, and it's very hard to train newcomers to use it."
"In my limited experience using SAP, the process of granting access to different modules is difficult. Specifically, the requirement to assign roles and key codes to users rather than being able to assign them individually made the process more complex. It would be beneficial if there was a way to assign key codes separately, rather than having to create multiple roles. This would make managing access easier."
"I would like to see improvement on the feedback from the road-map; it is currently extremely hard to get insight in this area."
"I cannot recommend this product to users. I feel that SAP's approach of mandating customers to go with SAP HANA is not a good point; they should make SAP HANA so good that customers willingly choose it."
"The pricing is expensive."
"I would not recommend SAP HANA because it has some issues with the speed and scalability of the size. It's also extremely expensive."
"This is an expensive solution."
"The solution is very expensive, however. The pricing depends on the number of users and many other factors that affect licensing."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool's price is cheap and based on a usage basis. The solution's licensing costs are yearly and there are no extra costs."
"There is a need for my company to pay for the licensing costs of the solution."
"HPE is flexible with you if you are an existing customer. They offer different models that might be beneficial for your organization. It all depends on how you negotiate."
"SAP HANA is expensive, but unfortunately, we do not have any alternatives."
"Price-wise, the product falls on the higher side of the spectrum. There is no need to pay for maintenance and support additionally. Support is available for bug fixes in the product."
"It is expensive, which isn't a problem for us because SAP HANA is processing the data so fast."
"The tool has a high price. I rate the solution’s pricing, one on a scale of ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap."
"We pay for a maintenance license, and the licensing cost is high. In general, it is a very expensive solution."
"The price is high and could be a bit cheaper."
"The solution's license is very expensive so I rate pricing a one out of ten."
"While the cost of the license may seem high, it is important to note that the benefits of the solution far outweighs the cost."
