We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Companies can scale the solution.""As an architect, I like the management features that come with Hitachi Content Platform because it makes things easy.""The Hitachi Content Platform is a stable and reliable solution.""The most valuable features of the solution are the versioning and the ransomware protection.""One of the most hidden valuable features is ensuring that you don't have bit rot, so it will go and check every single object that's stored on the system, then ensure that if there's a problem, it'll be repaired from either a local copy or remote copy, depending upon your configuration.""Feature-wise, it has a lot of features. The most valuable features include de-duplication, encryption, version controlling, support, and tamper-proof data.""We are using Content Platform for data migration, and it integrates with our HNS platform. This is good because we can integrate it with our existing HNS and SAP solutions. The GUI is also user-friendly. It doesn't take much time to do anything. If we know the architecture and the steps, we can do what we need with a few clicks.""The features that I have found most valuable are their retention logs. The other thing I have found most valuable is the way they handle the BHEA. Basically the DNS and everything is managed by itself. It is seamless to the users."

"The most valuable features of Qumulo are the ease of management and special permissions that are quick to enable. The overall performance of the solution is good.""It is a very stable product. I never faced any issues.""The data protection algorithm to protect the data between the nodes has been the most valuable feature. The integration with backup platforms such as Veeam and Veritas has also been valuable.""The feature that I like most is the analytics part of the file system.""The ratio of total operational cost to complexity versus feature set is very good.""The most valuable feature of Qumulo is the ability to share files and reliability.""The most valuable features of Qumulo are its rolling updates and all-day availability.""The most valuable feature is real-time analytics."

Cons
"At present, it is complicated to use the CLI command.""When you want to replace a disk, we need to start the maintenance from the S nodes. We have to automate maintenance so any onsite engineer can replace it after that, but we don't need to do this on VSP platforms. An engineer can come in and replace that specific disk. If also we could do that on Hitachi Content Platform, it would be great for us.""The user interface isn't as user-friendly, and the management platform UI isn't as intuitive as others. So it can be more user-friendly.""The only thing is that it should be more cost effective.""In terms of the customer support, I can say it's a mixed reaction depending on the country.""What is lacking in this solution is a simple process to migrate from existing systems.""They should improve the user interface. It's a little bit complex. It does not have a self-learning method. You need to know how to use it before you touch the system. The user interface is not self-explanatory.""Two things that can be improved are pricing and configuration. Mostly the pricing is an issue. And if I were to add anything, I would say more integration with backup solutions such as Veeam Backup."

More Hitachi Content Platform Cons →

"The price of the software is a bit expensive, so a reduction in cost would make it more competitive.""In the next release, I would like to see the ability to have more control at a terminal level of the file system.""Qumulo should continue to expand automation and orchestration capabilities.""Some anti-theft permissions do not transfer well to Qumulo.""The support for iMac and protocols should be improved, not all features are available.""In the future, I would like to see non-disruptive updates.""One aspect of Qumulo that I hoped to see improved was its software upgrade process, which did see significant progress during my usage. Initially, upgrading the software resulted in several minutes of system downtime. However, by the time I departed last summer, the downtime had reduced to mere ten seconds. Although I am unsure if Qumulo has yet achieved a completely outage-free upgrade, I simply performed the upgrades early in the morning before the marketing department began its workday, so any downtime was inconsequential.""The solution could improve availability and improve data protection or data services such as compression of deduplication. In a future release, we'd like to have more cloud API integrations."

    Overview

Hitachi Content Platform is an object storage solution that enables IT organizations and cloud service providers to store, share, sync, protect, preserve, analyze and retrieve file data from a single system. It is more efficient, easier to use, and capable of handling much more data than traditional file storage solutions. HCP automates day-to-day IT operations like data protection and readily evolves to changes in scale, scope, applications, storage, server and cloud technologies over the life of data. In IT environements where data grows quickly or must live for years, decades or even indefinitely, these capabilities are invaluable.

Qumulo is a data storage and management platform that promotes object-based storage for users, backup archives, and surveillance. Its primary use case is to provide a cost-effective and feature-rich solution for managing large data.

Qumulo's data protection algorithm ensures the safety of node data, while its integration with backup platforms like Veeam and Veritas makes it easy to manage backups. The platform offers a good balance between operational cost and complexity versus feature set, making it an attractive option for businesses of all sizes.
