Secure email management improves through advanced filtering and dynamic virus scanning
Fortinet FortiMail offers capabilities like settings for mail delivery, mail filtering, spam controls, and email bursting prevention. It also allows for email forwarding, dynamic filtering, and scanning based on virus signatures. I can set varying levels of security. The tool is flexible and provides essential features for mail security and management.
PC
Stable, but malware needs improvement and customer support is poor
They need to improve the malware in the product. I am not satisfied with Clearswift because of the lack of customer support. The support is poor, the supplier takes a lot of time and it's expensive. We have some issues here when I contact the supplier, it takes a lot of time for them to get back to us but there's no solution. I am now looking at Symantec as a possible alternative.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has a very high level of security through special licensing with solutions like FortiGuard, sandboxing solutions in the cloud, and URL rewriting solutions."
"I think the spamming feature is very valuable."
"I am satisfied with both the scalability and the stability of this solution."
"It is a scalable solution."
"Technical support is great. They're available 24/7 and their response time is typically within the hour."
"FortiMail is extremely flexible and very easy to learn. Compared to other email security products that we've tried, it is mainly the ease of configuration that makes FortiMail valuable to us."
"Its threat detection capabilities have been beneficial."
"One major benefit of the Fortinet FortiMail product is its ease of management."
"Ability to create your own content-filtering policies with relative ease."
"A stable solution."

Cons

"The solution could improve by making the UI more user-friendly and increasing spam and threat detection capabilities."
"Fortinet FortiMail is considered overpriced by Indian rupee standards. My organization is not profit-making, and academic pricing is required, but it may not be available for security products like FortiGate."
"I would like the integration to be easier."
"I have little to say about possible improvements, but the configuration for content blocking could be better. So, for example, if the email includes the line "You have a Bitcoin", I would like it to be easier to block it before it enters an inbox. Fortinet could maybe offer better or simpler help on how to do this properly."
"Sometimes it takes a little bit too long to determine if an email is good or not. If they could shorten that time span, it'd be so much better. It does delay our email, which does not make users happy. That said, I would have to say we have not been blacklisted for quite a while now."
"The infrastructure could be improved."
"Limited ability to upgrade hardware may lead to some performance issues that might otherwise be improved."
"The security products stop their operations once the subscription period expires. It is a wrong policy. If I trust a product, it has to continue working even after expiry. It should have a grace period of 30, 40, or 60 days. We can extend the subscription during those days. In some places, subscription extensions can take up to six weeks. During the renewal process, the support offered by the company is very poor. It also reduces security. We pay for the expired period but do not get protection during those times. The user of Fortinet FortiMail should have a feature to see spam names."
"FTP server and TRUST Manager functionality."
"Malware needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is reasonably priced compared to one of its competitors."
"There is a license required for this solution."
"We paid approximately $30,000 for the solution. It is less expensive than some other solutions. We have one license that carries all the features that we wanted."
"Pricing is based on initial license purchase and use volume."
"The licensing model for this solution is better because it is based on the box and not the number of users."
"9,000 Euro per annum for Fortinet Mail and sandbox."
"The price is acceptable for the support license it includes."
"Compared to its competitors, Fortinet's products are available at a higher price range."
