Featured Reviews

Mediha Šiljić - PeerSpot reviewer
Built-in connectors offer extensive data source integration and time savings
Fivetran could improve by adapting more for technical users and by providing more options for such users. There should be more adaptability in terms of new features. If a specific feature is required, it should be integrated promptly. Improvement in existing connectors with new features is desirable. Enhancements around customer-focused product adaptation are also suggested.
Bratislav Petkovic - PeerSpot reviewer
Efficient replication and helpful for improving data processing and management
The technology behind Hitachi ShadowImage has been around for a long time, and while it works correctly, it does have some issues. We have experienced problems with it, even though Hitachi provides good hardware. Technical support could also be improved, as it sometimes takes a few days to resolve issues.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product has some seamless connectors, which are readily available."
"The solution is stable. We've never faced any stability issues."
"Fivetran is an easy-to-deploy solution for organizations looking at integrating a wide variety of data sources."
"Its arrays are powerful enough to handle migrations even when the replication is happening in the background, without causing any trouble with the ongoing traffic."
"Fivetran is remarkably easy to use; I haven't encountered any other data integration tool that is as user-friendly."
"The portal is very intuitive and easy to use."
"It is not like a traditional ETL, but it gives quite a lot of flexibility."
"The most valuable feature of Fivetran is that it only synchronizes what needs to be synchronized."
"The most valuable features are its ability to handle large databases efficiently and the asynchronous replication capability."
"The most valuable feature of Hitachi ShadowImage is high-speed data transfer from one server to another. Other solutions would have problems with transferring 50 TB of data. I also like that Hitachi ShadowImage is easy to use."

Cons

"The solution is very expensive. I would like to have a better integration of the solution with Azure."
"I would like Fivetran to implement additional resource monitoring and restriction policies."
"The customization could improve because Fivetran gives more thought to people who don't want to manage analytics workflows rather than engineers who want to be able to customize pipelines more thoroughly."
"The environment must be more development-friendly."
"Fivetran is very expensive for data sources with a lot of rows, such as email data. I would like to see cheaper pricing for data sources like that."
"Some of the pain points we're looking at are trying to integrate some of the items in the Microsoft stack, so SharePoint and Excel, and then some of the newer Azure services."
"It should have a few more monitoring functionalities."
"The connections with SAP must be improved."
"API and script configuration in Hitachi ShadowImage is sometimes complicated, so this is an area for improvement. Another area for improvement is that the Hitachi ShadowImage interface isn't as user-friendly."
"We have experienced problems with it, even though Hitachi provides good hardware."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is reasonably expensive"
"I don't have the exact information, but I know it is high, and it is on a yearly basis. There is no additional cost for what we're doing. We're always open to doing things cheaper, so we might potentially implement a different solution."
"I can't give exact amounts because that's based on usage, but it's more expensive than some of its competitors."
"In the first year, we were given a very good discount. It was approximately 20,000 Euros per year. In the third year, we purchased credit for two years and the price was 33,000 Euros per year."
"Fivetran is very expensive, and its database-driven pricing model is outdated."
"The solution is affordable."
"When you have a lot of workflows and complex use cases, pricing goes down as you use it more."
"The licensing costs are extremely high for the usage of somebody who has one GB or two GB of usage per day for real-time traffic. There are many other players in the market which are similarly priced or competitively priced. On average per month, it used to come around 12,000-15,000 USD, which is very high."
"I don't have pricing information for Hitachi ShadowImage because my manager handled it."
