Offers unique object identification, ideal for UI layer regression automation but limited scalability
Performance is one key area for improvement. It can be slower compared to other tools I've used. Secondly, we have a very limited resource pool that uses this tool in India. So, finding resources familiar with Eggplant in India is challenging due to lack of affiliation programs and so on.

The solution's most valuable features are the drag-and-drop feature, keyword-driven approach, and reusability of the scripts. The solution has introduced a new feature that helps us identify objects we cannot normally identify. It gives you a fair idea of objects, resolving the object recognition issue. The solution can be used to perform different tests on different machines.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's been a revelation to us in terms of its ability to assist us in exploratory testing and to integrate with our current model-driven architecture."
"Customer Service: Excellent and very personal."
"We don't have a big team of people that can watch the dials and check that everything is okay. We're doing a lot of the monitoring of our website and our product at the side of the desk. We need a solution that does a lot for us, and that's what Eggplant does."
"It is not a conventional test automation tool. It uses optical character recognition (OCR) to identify objects. It makes it the best in the class."
"We've been really fortunate in that we've had virtually zero downtime in all the time we've been using Eggplant."
"We find the solution stable and scalable."
"TestComplete is much more flexible, light, and easy to use."
"Object spy and object recognition are working very well, giving us a lot of possibilities."
"To me, the Object Browser has proven to be the most valuable feature of this product."
"The initial setup is pretty easy and it's quick to deploy."
"Valuable for us is the ability to identify objects by using Find methods."
"This application is helping a lot in regression testing."
"The solution's most valuable features are the drag-and-drop feature, keyword-driven approach, and reusability of the scripts."
"With TestComplete, I can discover bugs faster and easier than testing manually."

Cons

"One area I can think of to improve is the usability of the reports that we get."
"Bugs occur fairly frequently, but they are very responsive in identifying them and scheduling them for fixes in future releases."
"I'd like to see the ability to integrate the user experience through device forms like AWS device forms or source labs."
"Performance is one key area for improvement. It can be slower compared to other tools I've used."
"The level of technical support leaves a lot to be desired."
"In scenarios where two of our engineers work on the same task, merging codes is a bit difficult."
"It is very difficult to have multiple developers when using Name Mapping. You can’t merge all the files and this creates conflicts."
"I would like to see improved language support, with Python being my first choice."
"The recording function, when using Python, could be improved, as it does not work well in recording testing."
"In the cross-browser domain, it has a few snags with Microsoft Edge and Chrome; although, these problems are not critical."
"Memory consumption Speed of interaction with controls Sets of prepared libraries like asserts Templates of tests from scratch"
"During the distribution of our regression test cases, the control IDs are not always recognized correctly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Eggplant came out as the most competitive in terms of commercials (terms and conditions) which was positive. When we did the initial negotiations, Eggplant started at a price but they were open to negotiations and we did negotiate a discount. That was really important to us because it showed a level of commitment to us."
"The pricing is competitive in India."
"Buy modules on demand. If you have a four-person team and they will each automate tests only 25% of the time, it's better to buy a floating licence and share the tool during the work day."
"The licensing costs are in the range of $1,000 to $3,000."
"The product is becoming more and more expensive."
"The solution's licensing cost has increased because it has moved to some new SLM-based licenses."
"Overall, for us, the cost of the TestComplete platform and the three extra modules is around $8,000."
"The solution is around $1500. Some are perpetual licenses, and some get a yearly report card."
"The option we chose was around $2,000 USD."
"The license price for a physical machine is cheap, and for virtual machine, it is very expensive."
