Offers unique object identification, ideal for UI layer regression automation but limited scalability
Performance is one key area for improvement. It can be slower compared to other tools I've used. Secondly, we have a very limited resource pool that uses this tool in India. So, finding resources familiar with Eggplant in India is challenging due to lack of affiliation programs and so on.

Performance testing has supported web app peak analysis but needs better setup and smarter scripting
Regarding points for improvement for OpenText Enterprise Performance Engineering (LoadRunner Enterprise), I see that features are not being fully developed yet. If OpenText could think about bringing AI features into the tool, it could save maximum time in scripting or make scripting effortless, particularly in correlation, which is where the complexity involved in script development exists. If any AI features could replace or eliminate more manual work on the correlation part, that is where we could see a game-changing improvement for the tool. OpenText Enterprise Performance Engineering (LoadRunner Enterprise) can be positioned very well in the market. However, I see that the basic correlations are only being handled by the autocorrelation engine in the LoadRunner tool, and I would expect a few improvements to handle even complex correlation problems so that the tool can be appropriately positioned compared to their peers.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's been a revelation to us in terms of its ability to assist us in exploratory testing and to integrate with our current model-driven architecture."
"We find the solution stable and scalable."
"It is not a conventional test automation tool. It uses optical character recognition (OCR) to identify objects. It makes it the best in the class."
"We don't have a big team of people that can watch the dials and check that everything is okay. We're doing a lot of the monitoring of our website and our product at the side of the desk. We need a solution that does a lot for us, and that's what Eggplant does."
"Customer Service: Excellent and very personal."
"We've been really fortunate in that we've had virtually zero downtime in all the time we've been using Eggplant."
"We haven't had an outage since we started using the solution."
"We implemented through the vendor, who used highly-skilled professionals."
"For me, it's the fact that I can train my team on a single tool; it really is kind of our Swiss Army Knife in that it can handle so many different types of protocols and technologies, and I don't have to train my team on multiple tools to handle each of those."
"Previously, we had different physical machines for each controller, and then we shifted to Performance Center, which allows users to log into a single instance and manage all other controllers from there."
"With the help of HP Performance Center and LoadRunner, we were able to critically evaluate the applications performance and stability, and were assured that each application that was released into production was performing better and meeting all SLAs, including transactional response times and system and platform resource utilization."
"The product is very user-friendly."
"This helps us to uncover some very high and critical performance-related defects, and keeping almost zero production issues related to the performance of applications since then."
"For me, the test coverage and the performance and load testing aspects are valuable."

Cons

"One area I can think of to improve is the usability of the reports that we get."
"I'd like to see the ability to integrate the user experience through device forms like AWS device forms or source labs."
"Bugs occur fairly frequently, but they are very responsive in identifying them and scheduling them for fixes in future releases."
"Performance is one key area for improvement. It can be slower compared to other tools I've used."
"While the stability is generally good, there are a few strange issues that crop up unexpectedly which affect consistent use of the product."
"Browser compatibility. IE is no longer the only browser out there, so providing users the choice of what browser to use would be great!"
"Many of my customers have had to switch to different tools due to the cost of LoadRunner, despite its advantages, leading them to alternatives like JMeter and RPT."
"It does not seem very professional and it is really a buggy behavior that should be fixed."
"We'd like the product to include protocol identifiers whenever a tester wants to test a new application."
"The level of support from HP is average."
"The debugging feature needs to include graphs."
"It would be nice if the Citrix protocol could be updated."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Eggplant came out as the most competitive in terms of commercials (terms and conditions) which was positive. When we did the initial negotiations, Eggplant started at a price but they were open to negotiations and we did negotiate a discount. That was really important to us because it showed a level of commitment to us."
"The pricing is competitive in India."
"This solution can be expensive."
"ROI is 200%."
"LoadRunner Enterprise's price is high."
"The prices would differ depending on the number of licenses you need. I wouldn't maybe compare it to any other tools. I rate the price as seven out of ten."
"The solution should decrease its price."
"We got an 80 percent discount for the product. It was cost-effective, but licenses tend to get expensive."
"The tool is very expensive."
"There is an ROI. What LoadRunner does, is it prevents failures when there are many, many concurrent users in the systems of a company."
