Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is easy to manage the DLP between MacOS and Linux.""The interface is pretty user-friendly, neatly explained, and simple to use.""The product is forward-looking, in my opinion, which is a requirement nowadays.""The search for keywords is very important in our security operations because one of the key use cases we had was for the ability to search keyword-based on an internal database of keywords that have been submitted by other project managers within the company that's around intellectual property. The ability to search on keywords was part of that.""The product's most valuable feature is its ability to support Linux operating systems.""Its robust security audit and compliance functionalities prove especially beneficial for businesses in sectors like BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) and Information Technology.""The most valuable feature is device control.""All of the features are effective, but the highlight feature of the product was the data layer inspection. When we talk about a DLP product, data packet inspection is very important. Securing data at rest is easy, but securing data in transit is challenging. We used it comprehensively to secure end drives, data transfers, secure hard drives, and end-user machines. It proved monumental in our operations."

"The most valuable feature of Digital Guardian is its reputation. They have scored high on the Gartner Magic Quadrant.""The technical support is really terrific.""Some of the features that are highly appreciated are its robust data loss prevention capabilities, flexible deployment options, and the ability to monitor data transfer across multiple vectors.""The feature we call desktop recording is the most valuable aspect of the solution. Not only can we collect data from the user's usage, but we also capture his screenshots when he is trying to steal the data.""It can scale from 100 to 10,000. There's no problem with the scalability.""It has been scalable.""We have been able to monitor access to files from each of our workstations.""In Digital Guardian, they have the cloud correlation servers that give you visibility work like EBR and the correlation server works very well for security analysis."

Cons
"I would like to see an alert feature that when a system is started, it checks to make sure that the client has the most up-to-date policies.""Because it is only an Endpoint Protector at this point in time, it does not have a network DLP component. There's only an endpoint DLP component. In the future, it would be good if a network DLP component could be embedded and extended to have network DLP capabilities.""It would be better if they had an inbound restriction feature. For example, I work out of my home from my personal computer. All my policies can be deployed while working. When I am done, I should be able to use my machine as my personal machine, and all these policies should be waived. In the next release, I want time bound restriction of the policies because most of these users were working out of home and using their personal computers.""We are currently facing an issue where it is blocking the Winman software, which is something that we don't want to happen because we use it in our accounts department to pay taxes.""Sometimes, it should try to focus on one thing rather than multiple things. Endpoint Protector does device control very well, which is why we use that particular function.""There are times when the server needs to be updated, and it would help if I got a notification for when the newest version comes out, because at the moment, I'm going in every now and then and checking. Sometimes it comes out and I didn't know it had come out.""It would be helpful if they offered discounted pricing for long-term contracts to serve customers who are interested in committing for periods of three years, five years, or longer.""I have faced issues which shouldn't be related to this product. This product is purely a DLP, so it should only protect my data. I don't know what is happening with their agent or what is happening with the software, but it messes up my endpoint. For example, people are facing bandwidth issues. Before I deployed this on an endpoint, people were getting internet speeds of 40 or 50 Mbps. After deploying it, that would come down to 10 Mbps. And if I uninstalled the agent, it would go back to 50 Mbps."

"There are a lot of issues with the current version of the Endpoint agent. It's not stable, it's resource-consuming, and there are some performance issues. If they could improve the stability of the agent it would be great.""I would like to see the workflow, to get all the rules and policies set up, be less complicated.""Technical support could be better.""Some features on Mac and Linux are not complete currently. For example, some device control features haven't been transferred over to the other systems. If they could have their Windows features also available on Mac and Linux, that would be perfect. Some of our customers have a Mac environment for their RD environment. Having the solution fully capable of handling everything in a Mac environment is crucial.""Digital Guardian is an excellent solution but our experience with the partner has been the most horrible experience we have ever had with any partner.""The solution has complexities around policy creation and deployment.""The initial setup is a bit more complex than other solutions.""It would be helpful if there was an on-premise version of the solution for companies that cannot use the cloud, such as government sectors."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "This is a budget-friendly solution that covers all the aspects of host-level DLP."
  • "The price of Endpoint Protector by CoSoSys is more or less the same as other competing solutions."
  • "It has a fair price. They just changed recently from perpetual licensing. When I bought it, I bought it on perpetual license, then they changed the whole company policy to go to subscription. It was a bit of a shock to us because we haven't upgraded it that many times. However, after speaking to CoSoSys directly, they gave us a very good renewal price."
  • "I don't have any issue with the licensing and pricing. I would love for it to be cheaper, but at the same time I'm getting a lot from it."
  • "[The pricing] is reasonable compared to what's out there."
  • "Pricing is quite reasonable. For smaller organizations, it lets them get into the product domain, whereas a lot of vendors won't even talk to them. CoSoSys is just about at that sweet spot of being serious enough that you have to budget for it, but at the same time, affordable enough that the value is well worth it."
  • "The minimum number of licenses they sell is 50 or 150 users."
  • "For what it's doing, the cost is somewhat high for us, but it's the cost of doing business with the clients that we have."

  • "Digital Guardian has both, subscription and perpetual licenses, but I think when everything (all technologies) will go to the cloud they will only offer subscriptions."
  • "If I compare Digital Guardian with Symantec, the license cost is lower, but McAfee can be cheaper than Digital Guardian. It depends on how many licenses you plan to buy and how big the project is. The cost is not so high as Symantec, but not as cheap as McAfee. They can easily sell the solution for price."
  • "The price of Digital Guardian is expensive."
  • "The cost was around $300,000."
  • "The price of Digital Guardian is on the higher end compared to other vendors."
  • "I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten because Digital Guardian is expensive."
