We performed a comparison between Symantec DLP and Digital Guardian based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.

  • Ease of Deployment: Symantec DLP’s initial setup is said to be easy, straightforward, and quick. Digital Guardian’s initial setup is described as more complex than other solutions, partially because of security policies.
  • Features: Symantec DLP offers data loss prevention tools that can integrate with third-party programs, valuable reporting, and endpoint encryption, as well as a partial enlisting feature. However, the layout of its interface, update delivery, and analysis of risk files all need to be improved. Digital Guardian offers a built-in endpoint detection and response tool, data classification and forensic analysis capabilities, and robust data loss prevention. Its substantial use of RAM and CPU, and agent deployment console are in need of improvement.
  • Pricing: Symantec DLP’s pricing is evaluated as reasonable and moderate and is noted to offer discounts to educational institutions. Reviewers note that Digital Guardian’s pricing needs to be less expensive.
  • Service and Support: Symantec DLP’s technical support team received mixed reviews. Digital Guardian’s support is generally described as lacking.
  • ROI: Both solutions are noted to provide a return on investment due to the time and money they save for enterprises.

Comparison results: Based on the parameters we compared, Symantec DLP comes out ahead of Digital Guardian. While both solutions offer valuable endpoint security and data analysis, Digital Guardian’s lack of support and high price leaves room for improvement.

    Overview

Digital Guardian Endpoint Data Loss Prevention (DLP) protects sensitive data on all your endpoints. It protects intellectual property and personal information. An endpoint agent that captures and records all system, user and data events on or off the network. It has a granular control of all data movement that can be configured to automatically block, justify or encrypt sensitive data in or attached to email, files moved to removable drives, cloud storage, or web - malware and malware-free - before sensitive data is lost. It has a built-in advanced data classification that creates and modifies classification and usage policies through content inspection, context-awareness and user classification. It provides design policies with controls that won't block actions that comply with corporate policy so employees remain productive while the data stays safe.

Keeping sensitive corporate information safe and compliant has never been easy. But today, you’re faced with a totally new set of data protection challenges. Sensitive information is leaving the safety of your corporate network as more employees share files over consumer cloud storage services and access those files on their own mobile devices. The number of targeted cyber attacks continues to grow, as cybercriminals develop effective new methods for defeating traditional security measures and stealing corporate information. And as all of these factors converge, it becomes increasingly difficult to manage corporate information and protect it against loss and theft.

Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP) provides a comprehensive approach to information protection that embraces today’s cloud- and mobile-centered realities. With DLP, you can:

    • Discover where data is stored across all of your cloud, mobile, network, endpoint, and storage systems

    • Monitor how data is being used, whether your employees are on or off the network

    • Protect data from being leaked or stolen—no matter where it’s stored or how it’s used
