Backup platform has significantly improved recovery speed and reliability for critical outages
Instant Virtualization is the best feature of Datto SIRIS that we have liked so far, as it allows us to boot servers in minutes during outages. The use of Datto SIRIS has significantly improved our Recovery Time Objectives. We have been using other software like Veeam and Microsoft Backup as well, so we have found Datto quite competitive to them. Our experience has been good so far, our clients are satisfied, and we have been handling outages effectively. We have not had the opportunity to use the One-Click Disaster Recovery feature because the last time we experienced a phishing attack, it was resolved and did not escalate to a disaster scenario, so we did not need to use that feature. Datto SIRIS improves reliability by providing storage space that enhances overall dependability. The centralized dashboards in the Hero Reports feature have been most beneficial for our IT reporting needs. The Hero Reports feature provides extensive capabilities that include the specific points we need for our demonstration. Even if we want to use these features to train machine learning models, they are very useful for us, and we do not need to perform much work on the data to extract those features. It has helped in reducing disaster recovery testing hours because it has features that help us by monitoring malicious activities throughout the database and notifying us of any fluctuations in normal behavior. Datto SIRIS is good at assessing effectiveness regarding ransomware recovery, and it is competitive in the market. However, the only concern we have been thinking about is its pricing. The pricing of Datto SIRIS is more expensive than Veeam and Microsoft Backup. On the other hand, it provides many more options and much greater feasibility.

Cloud backup has reduced storage costs and now delivers fast, reliable data recovery
My overall experience in this field is seven years. The deployment model I have chosen for Druva Phoenix is mostly cloud-based backup. Government authorities and government customers majorly opt for on-premises deployment, but we have a very limited customer segment from that area. Druva Phoenix primarily operates on a private cloud, with some customers utilizing hybrid cloud solutions. If I assess the effectiveness of backup features in Druva Phoenix, particularly in minimizing operational disruptions, I would rate it as a very strong 9 or 9.5 on a scale of 10. I am not using Druva Data Security Cloud. My overall review rating for Druva Phoenix is 9.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Datto SIRIS works out of the box and it is a key feature that we really appreciate."
"Datto SIRIS has changed my recovery time objectives significantly, as it is excellent, taking minimal time, with a simple and smoother interface that allows for a shorter backup process compared to other applications I have used, such as Commvault."
"Since I started using Datto SIRIS, the time to recover data or servers has improved significantly; before, restoring a file or server was very long with the normal backup system, Datto reduced the time much more when I needed to recover a file or a machine."
"The best feature of Datto SIRIS is that we are just two clicks away from remoting into the client environment, and we can fetch all the information in one place."
"Datto SIRIS has positively impacted my organization by drastically reducing downtime, with recovery from server failures now taking just five to ten minutes."
"Previously, three hours were spent on troubleshooting and everything, but now with Datto SIRIS, issues are resolved in half an hour or less."
"Instant Virtualization is the best feature of Datto SIRIS that we have liked so far, as it allows us to boot servers in minutes during outages."
"Once you set it up and you tell it exactly what needs to be backed up, you literally forget about it. It sends you emails and notifications of the current status of the jobs."
"I found the cost-effectiveness of Druva Phoenix to be its most valuable feature, especially when compared to on-premises backup solutions."
"One of the best features in Druva Phoenix for me personally is that it is an air-gapped environment, where you can keep cloud backup on a separate air-gapped environment and save from any kind of ransomware attack, and it is a ransomware safer environment because a customer gets a separate environment."
"The most valuable features of Druva Phoenix are the simple portal to log in and flexibility."
"Druva Phoenix is easy to use and easy to start with."
"The initial setup was very straightforward."
"Druva Phoenix provides a return on investment and operational cost reductions after implementation."
"It's patch-based, so you don't have to bother about the backup server or the repository."

Cons

"I was disappointed with the processing power and the storage capacity of the ALTO 5 device. Within two weeks of deploying it, I was getting emails that I need to upgrade it."
"The cost is higher compared to other platforms in the market like Veeam or Acronis."
"In my opinion about Datto SIRIS, areas for improvement include increasing speed in recovery processes and strengthening security to enhance the product's overall effectiveness in backup and disaster management."
"The backup of the Mac OS solution in Datto SIRIS doesn't exist at this moment."
"I have not seen any reduction in disaster recovery testing hours from Datto SIRIS."
"For improvements in Datto SIRIS, I would suggest enhancing large-scale virtualization performance and providing more transparent pricing, as that is often complex for MSPs and end customers."
"The product's pricing needs to be improved."
"Druva Phoenix is optimized to work with x86 platforms, making it unsuitable for backing up non-x86 architectures like AIX. The solution is primarily designed for physical Linux and Windows systems based on the x86 architecture, as well as virtualized Windows and Linux environments. However, if you have an AIX system, it cannot be deployed in the cloud, and therefore, backing it up in the cloud is not a concern."
"There is room for improvement in the reporting aspect of Druva Phoenix."
"Druva Phoenix should include a few reporting features that it doesn't provide currently."
"They were able to give us a very reasonable price considering we were non-for-profit organizations, however, there is always room for improvement on that cost."
"Deploying it in a hybrid cloud model involves some minor complexities, though nothing represents a significant challenge."
"The ransomware features are limited in Druva. There's a lot of improvement needed. It should extend to Nutanix and Hyper-V. It should extend to Azure as well."
"They were very much responsive a few years back, but in the last one or two years, I believe the responsiveness has gone down."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Druva Phoenix's pricing is based on the service provided, and it's reasonable. The cost of the service will depend on the size of your data and the number of virtual machines being backed up. However, the pricing structure is straightforward and easy to understand."
"I assume clients use Druva Phoenix because it is cheaper than other products."
"We’ve had experience with the data center for a while and we have had solutions that were able to support older versions of the operating systems that we needed. I would like for Druva to support it as well."
"It's very costly. Normal people wouldn't understand how their credits are calculated. It's pretty complex."
