Datto SIRIS Reviews

The use cases for Datto SIRIS that we set up are that we back up all emails for 365, certain devices such as servers and data stores that are high priority. We ensure all of those are backed up, and also any individual workstations that are necessary for business continuity are also backed up.

Datto SIRIS helps reduce time as applicable to showing images could be recovered and systems spun up. Whenever we've done disaster recovery testing to show that it works, we actually create a parallel system and go and do a disaster recovery scenario on that parallel system.

The feature I like the most about Datto SIRIS is the ability to go into the system and let's say somebody has deleted an email from three months ago and they suddenly forgot they need it really bad. The ability for the system to go into the OST file from the dates or within a date range—and this is not just with the email, but with any files or applications—to go within a date range and locate what is needed and be able to recover it at the most recent backup recovery point within that time frame.

The ability to quickly and easily recover data at a micro level instead of having to do a giant recovery at a macro level where you're recovering an entire data store when you're only looking for one file is one of the great things I've found is its ability to be very granular in what you want to find.

When it comes to ransomware recovery, Datto SIRIS has come in clutch, which is the best way I could put it. In my professional experience of well over 15 years, at least 10 times Datto SIRIS has been able to entirely recover to a hardware level of recovery systems and save probably a week of downtime. The most recent one I can think of was with Datto SIRIS, the small version. We had two servers online at a customer who got ransomware, which locked everything up, and we had that customer back up and running on similar hardware for their servers by the open of business the next morning. It takes recovery from days to hours on a small to medium business.

Inverse Chain Technology seems to go faster because the newest saved state is treated as the authority in the situation. That way if there's any issues, rolling back is much easier than it would be if you did not have the inverse data. It allows for rollback to be done in a more efficient manner.

The effectiveness of Datto SIRIS in ransomware recovery is fantastic. I would say it's the best, hands down. The amount of time it takes to get the upload back onto a system with a clean image, and there is a localized device, a localized Datto device, within a local network is nothing else competes with it right now.

For the smaller Datto SIRIS devices that are made for backing up one or maybe two different machines, adding more RAM and giving it a better CPU would be phenomenal. Sometimes when dealing with entry-level Datto SIRIS products, you face an issue depending on how much storage there is on there when it's trying to parse through all of the data. It takes a while, and when it comes to data recovery, time is everything.

Datto SIRIS should remove the ability to set it up as a NAS-based file share operation system. It seems counterintuitive for something that is made for immutable storage that is walled off so that it can't be destroyed to be allowed to be a local centralized file share that individuals have access to. This seems to be begging for a mishap.

Datto SIRIS will require some maintenance when the hard drive gets past 50% capacity, which is Datto's statement on the capacity. You should never use past 50% of the storage locally. Then you have to reach out to Datto directly to get an external hard drive to transfer files to send off the data for it to be shot up to the cloud. We've had a couple of instances of devices not uploading to the cloud because either they were too full or there were failures in certain parts of the file upload to the cloud, which put it into a circle of death where it just kept trying to do the same thing over and over again and had to request assistance from Datto in those situations. Otherwise, if you store it in a dusty cabinet, you have to spray it with a computer duster every once in a while.

I've been using Datto SIRIS in my career since approximately 2015.

Some of the early Datto SIRIS devices had instability. I haven't had any issues or seen any issues with the ones over the past four or five years.

Datto SIRIS is scalable, but each time you have to get a new product. The older Datto SIRIS, such as the SIRIS 3, is not as scalable, but it varies on the level of Datto SIRIS that you get. It is scalable to the point that how many drives can you put into the individual device and what is the maximum size drive, what is the maximum amount of RAM that each device will have. You can get a Datto SIRIS 3 with 128 gigs of RAM and 6 terabyte individual disks, but you can also do a newer one that has eight disks. It depends on what device you get because you're basing it off of different hardware. The original equipment manufacturer hardware is either a Dell or another server manufacturer. You can expand it as much as you can expand it, but if you get the Datto SIRIS 3, it's not going to be as good as the enterprise version of Datto SIRIS 5. You're stuck with the hardware you have, which is one of the big issues.

We've had to contact Datto support to get them to send hard drives when the device goes over 50% or is full. We've had to contact them for spinning up virtualized machines, to get virtualized machines and bandwidth increase for spinning up virtualized machines in ransomware and disaster scenarios.

I would rate the support at a nine out of ten compared to all other support. I don't give anybody a ten.

I've used everything from tape backups on an AS/400 green screen back before we had mice on the system, so it was just the keyboard, and we actually used solid tapes to back up and would go and take the tapes home with us to the use of imaging services that literally take a full image of a device and store it on the cloud through dropdown distribution. I've used Veeam a lot.

The deployment of Datto SIRIS is easy.

It requires one person, one engineer to deploy it. As long as they have all the correct credentials and access management, they can deploy it with every single thing that's needed, including online email backup, M365, Microsoft 365, everything of that nature, and set the scheduling to when they need. Depending on the size, if we're talking about one small entity that's doing their O365 and one server backing it up, as soon as you get that onto the network localized, it shouldn't take any more than two hours to have it set up and ingesting data.

The pricing offered to MSPs for Datto SIRIS is okay, but the ability for MSPs, their upcharge when it comes down to small, medium businesses, SMB clients, is actually putting Datto out of the market for SMB clients, especially with the ability to purchase Dropbox and all these cloud-based storage solutions now. Having a local device is fantastic, and then having that device back up locally and also send backups to a cloud-based system is fantastic. The only issue is that a lot of people are looking to cut costs, especially right now, and Datto has priced itself out of one of the largest parts of the U.S. market.

One-Click Disaster Recovery is a new feature that I'm referring to is the immutable backups where the backups, you can actually go in and do a complete restore either hardware-level restore or down to files and file folders. On a server, I spun up two new servers because we were getting ready to implement new servers anyway. So we had them there, spun those up with the new license keys from Microsoft, and then went on Datto SIRIS, pointed Datto SIRIS to the IPs of the new servers, and to the shared data store that I'd set up on them, and recovered all of the data from before the ransomware had hit to the new servers and was able to build out the FSMO roles, everything, off of the recovered information.

The one-click recovery is something new that I haven't seen. One-click disaster recovery cleanup and one-click Cloud VLAN are features I'm not familiar with from my previous experience. When I was using Datto SIRIS, there wasn't a one-click Cloud VLAN. We had to go through spin up, spin up the server image in Datto Cloud, have it start handing out DHCP from Datto Cloud, and then reassign all of the IP addresses locally once the server image was spun up in the cloud. So there was no one-click. It was manual. Hearing that it's now one-click and it'll do that is nice, especially taking into account if a network has server hard down and their domain services are down for IP addressing and schemas, then that's actually really nice. I wouldn't be able to fill into any thoughts on one-click disaster recovery fix because I've never used that. I used what came before the one-click for the Cloud VLAN, which was 30 minutes of spinning up a virtual disk and virtual image in Datto Cloud and getting everything set up and running and then changing all the localized VLANs or ensuring that the VLAN in the cloud was the correct VLAN depending on use case—whether it was a hardware issue or a malware issue. That's the only one I could speak intelligently about.

I would rate this review at an eight out of ten overall.

We have been using Datto SIRIS for a few of our clients for backup purposes, and for a few others, we have been using it for both backup and recovery.

Instant Virtualization is the best feature of Datto SIRIS that we have liked so far, as it allows us to boot servers in minutes during outages.

The use of Datto SIRIS has significantly improved our Recovery Time Objectives. We have been using other software like Veeam and Microsoft Backup as well, so we have found Datto quite competitive to them. Our experience has been good so far, our clients are satisfied, and we have been handling outages effectively.

We have not had the opportunity to use the One-Click Disaster Recovery feature because the last time we experienced a phishing attack, it was resolved and did not escalate to a disaster scenario, so we did not need to use that feature.

Datto SIRIS improves reliability by providing storage space that enhances overall dependability. The centralized dashboards in the Hero Reports feature have been most beneficial for our IT reporting needs.

The Hero Reports feature provides extensive capabilities that include the specific points we need for our demonstration. Even if we want to use these features to train machine learning models, they are very useful for us, and we do not need to perform much work on the data to extract those features.

It has helped in reducing disaster recovery testing hours because it has features that help us by monitoring malicious activities throughout the database and notifying us of any fluctuations in normal behavior.

Datto SIRIS is good at assessing effectiveness regarding ransomware recovery, and it is competitive in the market. However, the only concern we have been thinking about is its pricing. The pricing of Datto SIRIS is more expensive than Veeam and Microsoft Backup. On the other hand, it provides many more options and much greater feasibility.

In Datto SIRIS, several areas have room for improvement. When we faced the initial setup with a very large dataset, the initial cloud sync was slow. The cost is higher compared to other platforms in the market like Veeam or Acronis. Large-scale restore from the cloud takes time and depends upon bandwidth. The UI is somewhat outdated and could be much more integrated, modern, and responsive.

We have been continuously using Datto SIRIS for our on-premise backup for almost five to six years.

We have seen a return on investment as it has saved us resources. We have automated all our backups, so we do not encounter any issues with backup failures. If there is a backup failure, we have also triggered a remediation command, so it is helping us save time and resources.

Scalability is dependent on the cloud provider we are using, so it cannot be solely judged through Datto SIRIS. If we are using AWS, we are having great services from AWS and would rate it an eight. Azure and GCP would receive a rating of six.

The maintenance of Datto SIRIS is easy because they have an auto-update system that keeps everything updated in accordance with current malwares and phishing injections available in the market. The updates are automatic. However, when there is an issue on our end such as a configuration issue that is not being resolved, we need to contact their customer support.

I would rate the technical support of Datto SIRIS as a seven.

We are not using the OneDeploy Secure Edge integration with Datto BCDR. We do not use the One-Click Cloud VLAN feature for pre-configuring cloud networking for DR testing because our networking is a separate function, and we are only using Datto SIRIS for our backups.

It is easy to deploy, but as mentioned, it is slow because when we redeploy it, we need to sync all our data again, which takes a considerable amount of time.

It has saved us approximately fifteen to twenty percent in time, money, and resources.

We would recommend Datto SIRIS to users who have a large infrastructure so that they can manage it efficiently and in any case of disaster, they can recover it quickly. However, we would not recommend it to small businesses because it can be costly for them. We give this product an overall rating of eight.

Our main use case for Datto SIRIS is both on-premises and cloud-based.

I believe the best features Datto SIRIS offers include the guarantee that it is a working live backup, as it tests it every day at midnight.

Datto SIRIS has positively impacted our organization by allowing us to have meaningful cost-benefit discussions with clients who are considering moving to the cloud. Particularly in the past, Datto SIRIS has given them the comfort that they have both an on-premises performance advantage and a guarantee that they are able to restore backup and run from the cloud.

If there is an issue with backups, a ticket is raised with my team who fix it first thing in the morning, giving me peace of mind knowing that clients are guaranteed that their backups are live and working every day, 365 days a year.

At this stage, there is no improvement needed for Datto SIRIS.

Cost is a consideration, but in general, we are fairly happy with the value. My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is very straightforward. The only thing I would prefer is if the contracts were 12 months instead of 36.

We have been using Datto SIRIS for a decade.

Datto SIRIS is very stable.

From my perspective, Datto SIRIS's scalability is very good. The contracts are flexible enough to upgrade or downgrade the product without too much of a penalty.

Customer support is probably an eight out of 10, which is solid, as we do most of the work ourselves and I rate the vendor an eight out of 10.

We previously used a different solution, which I consider a good value.

Definitely, the return on investment has been massive. Time saved has been massive as we are not having to run live DR tests.

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is very straightforward. The only thing I would prefer is if the contracts were 12 months instead of 36.

Before choosing Datto SIRIS, we evaluated other options such as Veeam and ShadowProtect, as well as another product called Cove from SolarWinds.

In general, it is a very sensible, secure, cost-effective way to protect our clients. I advise others looking into using Datto SIRIS to be sure to investigate alternatives in the market, as things change constantly. I would also recommend speaking to other MSPs who have either deployed Datto SIRIS as a new solution or used Datto SIRIS to replace an incumbent solution, such as Veeam. I would rate this product an 8 out of 10 overall.

My use case for Datto SIRIS is that in my previous organization, we were doing migration projects from tenant to tenant, using it for backup, recovery, application management, and patching, making it essential for backing up all files and servers during domain migrations.

Datto SIRIS has changed my recovery time objectives significantly, as it is excellent, taking minimal time, with a simple and smoother interface that allows for a shorter backup process compared to other applications I have used, such as Commvault.

I compare Datto SIRIS with other vendors and find that it is the best, providing an all-inclusive interface where all options and features are readily available, making it user-friendly for even a fresher, which I prefer based on my four years of experience.

The best features of Datto SIRIS are the backing up and disaster recovery functionalities, which I consider key.

My experience with the one-click disaster recovery feature is that it simplifies the process significantly, allowing for rapid recovery and integration with backup and disaster recovery solutions, automating tasks while providing security against various threats.

In evaluating the performance of Inverse Chain Technology, I find it provides unified management for rapid recovery and instant virtualization, equipped with AI-powered features including Backup IQ for simplified data protection.

Hero Reports have been beneficial for my IT reporting needs, as they create business continuity and disaster recovery reports, giving a high-level view of the backup status, including various report types such as offsite and continuity audit reports.

I appreciate the one-click Cloud VLAN feature for its incredibly fast recovery from outages, allowing IT professionals to clone virtual machines easily while minimizing recovery time, which is crucial in this realm.

I use the one-click DR cleanup feature, which enables users to quickly initiate recovery, virtualize systems, create recovery plans from one access point, and simplify and speed up recovery and automation of virtual machine configurations.

Datto SIRIS significantly reduces disaster recovery testing hours with a very fast performance model, where tasks that used to take a day can now be done in about an hour.

In my opinion about Datto SIRIS, areas for improvement include increasing speed in recovery processes and strengthening security to enhance the product's overall effectiveness in backup and disaster management.

I have been using Datto SIRIS for the past two years, but Datto RMM I have used for the past four years, averaging 3.5 to four years for both applications.

I would rate the technical support that the vendor provides at 9.5, as they offer excellent service.

I estimate that Datto SIRIS has saved around 50% of the time in our processes, as two people can manage everything efficiently, while previously we would have needed eight to ten people without Datto SIRIS.

Thoughts on pricing indicate that it is handled by a different team, varies based on specific solutions and storage capacities selected by organizations, and is generally fairly priced for the value provided.

I would recommend Datto SIRIS because even a fresher can easily adapt to its user interface, making it user-friendly, fast, and efficient for various tasks, from software updates to virtualization. I would give this solution a rating of 10.

It works out of the box for our use cases. Once it is configured, we set it and forget it. It is quick, which is what I like the most about it. It is really easy to do, and I can have my Level 2 tech guys deal with it.

Datto SIRIS works out of the box and it is a key feature that we really appreciate. We are doing that continuously with Datto SIRIS, and we are validating customer data. We especially appreciate this feature when it comes to running the validation drills for customers that we promise to run for them.

I have not seen any reduction in the RTOs since I started using Datto SIRIS.

We are experimenting with the one-click disaster recovery feature now. The limitations we found on it are related to VMware, not necessarily to anything else other than VMware.

We included Hero Reports in our technology business reviews, and those were very beneficial to our IT reporting needs. It gave the team very easy access to the reports that we can look for to present to our customers regarding what we are doing with Hero Reports.

We are not using the one-deploy secure edge integration with the BCDR.

We have tried the one-click DR cleanup feature, and we only found it limited beneficial. The metadata that it was supposed to clean up was not that good.

We had trouble with Cloud VLAN, specifically the one-click Cloud VLAN feature, in making the VMware visible on the network. We needed to open a case with Datto support. We had to upload our logs and they initially told us it is the network. Then we asked what part of the network, and they said maybe some additional ports need to be opened. We finally got it going, but saying that it is the network is not detailed enough. We need more specific information about the network.

I was disappointed with the processing power and the storage capacity of the ALTO 5 device. Within two weeks of deploying it, I was getting emails that I need to upgrade it. The initial ALTO did not support VMware, but Datto SIRIS does. We are pushing the outer limit of it, so I have to review our retention and potentially upgrade. Unlocking more data storage capacity is something they can do better in Datto SIRIS so I do not have to ship products or parts when I am ready for the upgrade. If I need the upgrade, they can just unlock it for me remotely.

About six months.

The speed of technical support was excellent, and the quality was above average. If I were to put support on a scale from one to 10, I would say the support lands at eight.

From my point of view, the initial deployment was easy. It took two full days to fully set it up. One day was to get it into the Kaseya portal and another day to push it through all the network. We have a busy VLAN network, so it took two days total.

I use other BDR devices as alternatives. Probably the Asigra platform would be the closest one. I prefer Datto SIRIS more than the alternative mentioned. The pricing was competitive and very good considering that it came with a hardware appliance and shipping, so I am happy about that.

Compared to other platforms, it was dumbed down in terms of backup greatness with Inverse Chain Technology. It was kind of intended for a junior user, which is fine and a good thing. It did not have all the bells and whistles of a feature-rich product compared to VMware and other platforms that we have experience with. I am a partner with Datto, not just a customer. I would rate this review an 8.

We generally use Datto SIRIS to monitor devices, such as their online and offline status. We use it to remote into our client devices, which are at their property if we have it on Datto RMM. Another thing is to track down the list of devices with their product details, including serial number, operating system type, DHCP, network config, how much space they are using in their C drive, player version, and model type. All this information we have available.

The best feature of Datto SIRIS is that we are just two clicks away from remoting into the client environment, and we can fetch all the information in one place. If somebody is asking about their device information, we can take it in an Excel sheet and forward it to them in one place. That's the best thing.

One area where Datto SIRIS could improve is that a client cannot add devices by themselves. They have to purchase from us or somebody who is giving them the licenses. LogMeIn is another tool where if we send them the installer link, they can add any devices by themselves. I think if we also have an installer link for Datto where we can copy that URL and send it to the client, they can add any new devices which they are getting by themselves.

I have not seen any reduction in disaster recovery testing hours from Datto SIRIS. I cannot give a definitive answer on this, but I believe there has been no reduction.

I have been using it for two years in my career, not necessarily on this job, just overall.

I have not seen any stability issues with this application, including lagging, crashing, or downtime. Whatever I have figured out, it's the environmental issue at the client's end, nothing related to Datto or RMM.

Scalability of Datto SIRIS is very good, and I would rate it 9.5 out of 10.

I have never had to contact technical support for Datto SIRIS in these two years.

I have tried using alternatives to Datto SIRIS, including LogMeIn, and the other alternative which we use is ScreenConnect.

From my point of view, the initial deployment of Datto SIRIS is easy. When I first started with Datto SIRIS, it took me not more than 30 to 40 minutes to fully deploy it, approximately.

For this type of deployment, it does not require an entire team, but if we have two people, that would be good enough. They should be experienced people.

The pricing for Datto SIRIS goes to our accounts and billing team because I have never been interacting with the sales pitches to our client since we are into tech support. As far as I know, most of our clients are using this tool, so I think it should not be that bad in terms of pricing.

I haven't used One-Click Disaster Recovery that much, so I would not be able to give any accurate feedback on that particular part. I have not used Inverse Chain Technology yet, which is a feature they also call that.

We get auto alerts on processing power or storage capacity of the ALTO 5 device from RMM. We have tried using the One-Click Cloud VLAN and the One-Click DR Cleanup feature, and we have tried the Disk Cleanup feature, which is also very great.

The only report which we use at the moment is to pull out the list of all the devices which the client has in our RMM tool. Sometimes they ask us to send the list of devices and their network configuration, how they are configured, so that it's very easy for us to just click and get all those details in an Excel file and send it over. That's the thing which we use at our organization.

It does not require any maintenance on our end. There's nothing required from our end. Datto SIRIS maintenance is something which RMM or Datto do by themselves, so I don't think it requires any maintenance from our end.

I would rate this review nine out of ten. I believe whether we have partnerships with Datto would be a great question for my other team because we use that tool, so definitely there would be some kind of contract with them, but I'm not sure 100% what kind of contract we have with them. My overall rating for this product is 9.9 out of 10.

Datto SIRIS is my main use case for me and my customers.

I use Datto SIRIS to offer a business continuity and disaster recovery solution in a single appliance. It's very simple and very fast to restore if it's necessary.

In a particular situation, where my customer was infected with ransomware and the online system was broken, I used the function in Datto SIRIS to start up a snapshot. I can offer a restore of the server for my customer in 10 to 15 minutes.

The facility to use Datto SIRIS is a function that I prefer.

The user interface of Datto SIRIS is very simple and very user-friendly. The restore is very fast. The alerts that arrive in my email are very complete.

Reporting in Datto SIRIS is very efficient. The reporting via email from Datto SIRIS for me, my customer, and my team shows that every single backup is okay or if there is a problem because the snapshot for the server is broken or another problem that I can address systematically.

Since I started using Datto SIRIS, the time to recover data or servers has improved significantly; before, restoring a file or server was very long with the normal backup system. Datto reduced the time much more when I needed to recover a file or a machine.

The cost for Datto SIRIS is very important. Using Datto SIRIS notably reduces time and introduces high-level security.

Datto SIRIS positively impacts my organization by reducing downtime for the restore. The restore with Datto SIRIS is very fast compared to other solutions that I know.

The backup of the Mac OS solution in Datto SIRIS doesn't exist at this moment.

Integration backup for Mac OS is something I wish Datto SIRIS would improve.

I have used Datto SIRIS for five years.

Datto SIRIS works very reliably at all times.

Datto SIRIS's scalability allows me to easily grow or shrink my use as needed.

The customer support of Datto SIRIS is very high-level, and they respect the ticket times.

I had another similar solution before Datto SIRIS. Another solution I used was Acronis Direct to Cloud. It's a similar solution, but it doesn't have a local appliance like Datto SIRIS.

I am a partner and reseller for this solution.

The solution was evaluated thoroughly to be introduced into the company. It's a high-level solution, and the price is correct for me.

Another solution I used before choosing Datto SIRIS was Acronis Direct to Cloud. It's a similar solution, but it doesn't have a local appliance like Datto SIRIS.

The technology of Datto's Inverse Chain Technology TM is very healthy. I appreciate that each single snapshot is separate from the others.

Datto SIRIS is the correct way to introduce a high-level BCDR appliance for customers and in a company.

On-premises is the solution that I implement with Datto SIRIS.

My experience with the One-Click Disaster Recovery feature in Datto SIRIS is very positive for recovery tests or for disaster recovery. Compared to other solutions, Datto is very positive.

I rate Datto SIRIS 10 out of 10.

My main use case for Datto SIRIS is for business continuity and disaster recovery, specifically for BCDR, data protection, and sometimes backups and failovers since I'm an MSP.

In addition to my main use case, we also use SaaS backup in Datto, which has excellent functionality for M365 backups, helping restore emails, files from MS Teams, or SharePoint when deleted, utilizing the Datto Unified Backup. For security purposes, we're maintaining levels of permissions, where the main IT person has full administration rights, a dedicated IT manager has limited access, and users only have read access, with their accounts having read and write access. All products from Datto SIRIS, including physical backups and cloud, are part of the same brand, making them easy to maintain.

For a recent disaster recovery example using Datto SIRIS, one of my customers with a physical server crashed due to Windows updates and critical errors, which included a domain controller, Hyper-V configurations, and IIS web applications. At that time, I checked the BCDR portal, which has a one-hour retention period for backups. Immediately after the crash, we ran a VM from Datto SIRIS, and within a few seconds, the VM was available over the BCDR portal, allowing the user to access it while I worked on the actual issue.

Datto SIRIS offers excellent features, with my favorite being virtualization, as customers cannot bear business losses during any system crashes, ransomware attacks, or failures. We can spin up VMs from Datto SIRIS immediately, without long and complicated steps, making it easy for everyone.

The instant virtualization feature helps us immediately spin up a VM when a physical system or Hyper-V crashes. In the last six years, none of my customers faced a ransomware attack, and we use this functionality for system outages and physical server crashes.

One good functionality of Datto SIRIS is the hourly backup feature that aligns well with company working hours, while I also configured a policy to upload one backup to Datto Cloud at the end of the day. In case the local BCDR fails, I can access that data on Datto Cloud. Additionally, the snapshot verification alert is helpful, as it reports any issues found during a system interruption, guiding me to perform necessary updates before taking a final snapshot.

In terms of usability, Datto SIRIS significantly reduces downtime by allowing servers to be restored in minutes instead of hours. It also protects against ransomware since backup snapshots are immutable, and it supports business continuity with both local and cloud disaster recovery options. Centralized MSP management enables me to manage numerous customers from a single portal, facilitating oversight of multiple backup devices and agents.

Datto SIRIS has positively impacted my organization by drastically reducing downtime, with recovery from server failures now taking just five to ten minutes. Prior to using Datto SIRIS, such recoveries took hours, and our customers require immediate solutions to avoid business losses. There is also improved recovery protection against ransomware, easy threat detection, and the process of restoring snapshots takes only minutes.

For improvements in Datto SIRIS, I would suggest enhancing large-scale virtualization performance and providing more transparent pricing, as that is often complex for MSPs and end customers. Faster cloud virtualization performance for Hyper-V and VMware is needed since sometimes it is slower compared to expectations, and a more customizable retention policy would be beneficial.

For integration, stronger ties with RMM and PSA tools would be advantageous, as well as improvements in documentation to include more technical depth and real-world examples. I have often faced issues with snapshot failures and found the provided error codes lacking solutions, which leads me to spend time raising support tickets.

I have been using Datto SIRIS for approximately six years, using it for multiple customers.

Earlier, with a different local backup solution, restoring a Hyper-V VM took approximately three hours, compared to Datto SIRIS, which saves me a considerable amount of time, as it now takes a maximum of fifteen minutes.

My advice for others considering Datto SIRIS is that it provides excellent features for MSPs, including centralized management, quick backup processes, and ease of managing agents from a single portal, although it can be on the pricier side for its features. Datto SIRIS was introduced three and a half years ago. We typically use Datto SIRIS for backups of endpoints, endpoint agents, and BCDR. The agents are installed on particular devices, and we use virtual machines with Datto SIRIS devices or Datto agents installed on them. Through that, we are able to get those agents onto Datto SIRIS RMM or the Kaseya dashboard, where we are able to fetch those agents and enlist them.

We perform local backups and cloud backups that are stored in Datto SIRIS, and we also have protected agents. Sometimes agents require screenshot verification to confirm that the backup has been successful.

Datto SIRIS offers a lot of features, and over the past three and a half years, many things have been refined and are innovative.

The Datto SIRIS support team is most valuable. Whenever we have issues, we raise a ticket and the Datto SIRIS team provides details. When we raise support tickets, the engineer guides us through the particular issue so we do not need to raise another ticket. We are able to know what to do and what not to do. Additionally, endpoint agent status has been added as a feature, along with BCDR status, network status, endpoint backup agent for Datto SIRIS, endpoint backups, and many other things.

We have a backup radar that used to raise tickets regarding failed backups. Since we started using Datto SIRIS, that has changed because Datto SIRIS is able to handle those kinds of backups unless it is critical or there is a lack of space. This automation has totally eliminated our hectic schedule of troubleshooting backups. We used to spend three hours on troubleshooting and everything, but now with Datto SIRIS, we resolve issues in half an hour or before that as well.

Backup readiness is the best thing that Datto SIRIS provides, giving a full status of the on-premises backup, cloud backup, and the status of that. We are able to get the exact time the backup has been completed. If it is enumerating the data, we are able to get it through the logs. Every backup is in one place; we do not have to go here and there. We have cloud backup and on-premises backup; everything is in place. Unlike other solutions where Microsoft 365 backup is separate, mailboxes are different, cloud backup is different, and on-premises is different, BCDR has combined all of them in one place.

There is no room for improvement right now; it is good. Whatever is being done should be done with great efforts, or otherwise it is going to be too complicated.

Datto SIRIS is good for backup endpoints, local backups, cloud backups, O365 backups, and mailboxes. Everything can be done in a single place without worrying about anything.

Datto SIRIS RMM was deployed through the Kaseya portal, though I was not present because it was during a client call. I have not used the one-click disaster recovery feature in Datto SIRIS, so I cannot comment on that. I have not used other features that were asked about.
