Useful endpoint visibility, high availability, and helpful support
Datto EDR is used for detection and response for endpoints The most valuable feature of Datto EDR is the visibility of the endpoints. The solution could improve by having more deployment methods. I have been using Datto Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) for approximately three years. Datto…

Customization capabilities allow clients to autonomously deploy policies
There are a few areas where Trellix Endpoint Security can improve. Firstly, the high CPU utilization when agents are installed can negatively impact client systems. Another issue is with end-users outside the network, where the agent handler sometimes fails to deploy the product properly. Improvements are needed in forensic analytics to detect specific vulnerabilities. It would also help if detection specifics were identified more quickly and the problem-solving process accelerated, especially to meet larger clients' expectations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ease of deployment has been good."
"The most valuable feature of Datto EDR is the visibility of the endpoints."
"The insight that the solution provides is the most valuable aspect. The security scanning they do is excellent."
"Datto Endpoint Detection and Response is a perfect product for endpoint security."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its dashboard."
"Automatic user recovery prior to Windows booting up."
"There is a new feature where you can set thresholds for all the CPU consumption allowing for no consumption on the servers when the scans happen. It is a separate plugin or addon, and if we have it on all the virtual machines it automatically checks the resources, and based on that, it will schedule the scans. That is something that I have not seen in other antivirus solutions, such as Symantec."
"Technical support is always available and very helpful."
"Trellix Endpoint Security seems to do a good job in terms of protecting my infrastructure from malware."
"I recommend Trellix Endpoint Security to others as it seems like one of the industry standards and is fairly stable."
"Provides good mobile device protection."
"It provides a lot of information and great visibility, with really great options for managing the environment."

Cons

"The solution could improve by having more deployment methods."
"The deployment of the solution right now is terrible. We find it to be very bad. It could be improved enormously."
"The solution should allow the automation of playbooks."
"The inclusion of web filtering would be good."
"They can make it free, but that's not going to happen."
"MVISION Endpoint is only compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 2016 and above. If I were using a Linux operating system, I would not be able to use MVISION Endpoint."
"If there's a possibility for remote assistance or investigation support in the future, it would be beneficial. Currently, we use another remote software for such purposes. If this feature could be included in the next version, that would be an improvement. The feature is called Remote Administration. I'm somewhat satisfied, but there's an issue I recently encountered. When attempting to scan a suspected host machine, Symantec Endpoint Security did not provide any alerts. However, when we installed Malwarebytes and ran a scan, it detected a threat that wasn't identified by Symantec. We raised this concern with the team for resolution, and the investigation is still ongoing."
"The user interface could be improved by making it more user-friendly. There are multiple solutions and there is no clear line differentiating all of them. There is a centralized console where we manage everything but most of the administrators feel a little confused when it comes to managing multiple products from a single place."
"Looking at the current ePolicy orchestrator, and the transition of most vendors to the cloud, they need to do an improvement with the current dashboard or the overall aesthetic of their GUI."
"There are a few areas where Trellix Endpoint Security can improve. Firstly, the high CPU utilization when agents are installed can negatively impact client systems."
"It has very good integrations. However, its integration with Palo Alto was not good, and they seem to be working on it at the backend. It is not very resource-hungry, but it can be even better in terms of resource utilization. It could be improved in terms of efficiency, memory sizing, and disk consumption by agents."
"The agent is very heavy, so we have to ensure that we have a lightweight agent for Windows systems."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is an annual license to use this solution. The price of the solution can be expensive depending on the company."
"Datto Endpoint Detection and Response is not an expensive solution."
"When comparing the solution to others it is a bit expensive. We are on a monthly license."
"I think Trellix is more on the higher side of the market, just on a general scale, but I also think it depends on what particular package you choose."
"Pricing for McAfee MVISION Endpoint is not very good, and I would rate its cost three out of five, though I won't be able to mention how much its actual price is."
"Pricing is reasonable and runs at a cost per user per year."
"I would rate the cost as four to five, considering it's normal compared to other products. I find it nominal and worth the money."
"We pay 650 Rand for a license. It is a perpetual license which we normally run for two years."
"The pricing is great and licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis."
"Trellix may cost around $46 to $47 for a single license without an EDR."
