Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The recovery time objective and recovery point objective were most valuable. It was easy to use, and it was easy to recover a file. I was the head of sales and a product evaluator for an MSSP, so I never had to deal with recovery from ransomware. However, I was confident that if ransomware had occurred, I would only lose a maximum of 59 minutes of data. The files were encrypted.""The solution has the capability to scale well."

"Veeam Backup Replication has good performance and can do location-to-location backups. Additionally, it is user-friendly and easy to manage.""Most of the features that we can use with HPE products are directly integrated with the Veeam. This is very important for the customers to have only one pane of glass to manage the backups and also use the HPE products for the backups.""The most valuable feature is that I can back up the whole machine and then restore it relatively fast.""From my experience, Veeam is very good. Its interface is user-friendly. We can restore it whenever. It's not complicated. It's very easy to manage and administration is very easy.""Integration with VMware is excellent with very granular recovery.""The good thing about Veeam is that its initial setup and usage are straightforward.""I have found one of the most valuable features to be the integrity of the backups.""Good compression when storing data."

Cons
"I don't have any feedback to provide in terms of features that may be lacking.""At the time I was using it, I would've focused more on signatures of malicious software in the cloud. I love Datto, and I know they're on the right path, but I probably would've focused more on the operating system update management. When you go from the desk to the cloud or from the server room to the cloud, everything changes. Everything is different. You're not in control of your servers anymore. It is from the Active Directory management perspective and not from the perspective of zero-day attacks or other similar things. At the time, more focus on zero-day attacks and business email compromise (BEC) would've been a better protection factor than just educating about how many of these attacks have occurred."

"I would like a solution for SAP systems to be included.""Device backup could be improved.""When in a domain, the virus can easily attack the Veeam server, something which happened to us.""There should be better use of the external hard drives.""All our customers would like a cheaper license and more flexible deployment.""The stability for AIX machines could be better.""The deduplication feature could be improved by changing to global deduplication.""The web interface could be more visual."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "As the company grew from business continuity—or what used to be called business BCDR—they brought on services. Certain services, such as SaaS protection, were a value-add, but you would expect to pay for them. They are not going to be free. It is just the life that you live when you're evaluating software vendors, partners, etc. There is going to be some form of a base offering, and then there are going to be different tiers that you need to get up to a better level."

  • "My understanding is that it is a fairly small price point."
  • "Its software solution has a fee."
  • "It is more expensive than other solutions."
  • "If you tell Veeam that you're competing with, for example, NetBackup or Backup Exec, or Dell or Micro Focus then they may lower the price. They are very competitive."
  • "I don't know what the costs are for sure, but I think that it's on a yearly basis."
  • "Its price is reasonable for a big company or a big client. It is not too much. It is cheaper than VMware."
  • "Its pricing is really good."
  • "Veeam Backup and Replication is a cost-effective solution"
