We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We have some customers who are in both SAP and non-SAP. When we do scrambling for different applications, it is extremely important that DATPROF and the SAP applications talk to each other and synchronize. Otherwise... [an] identity [can be] lost, from a name perspective.""We can create synthetic test data for our different development teams without needing production data, which is an excellent capability.""I am very impressed with the capabilities of the software.""Technical support is good. They are friendly and fast.""The most valuable feature is that it's easy to use... We were able to quickly port a JD Edwards application into the DATPROF solution and we were able to scramble the data in that application. It's a single tool that helps us to do that across applications.""The most valuable feature of DATPROF Privacy for us is the possibility to mask sensitive test and development data on different kinds of databases. Furthermore, the tool comes with different useful masking functions. It is possible to mask deterministic and it is possible to add your own functions. The tool has an intuitive interface and customer support is fast and efficient.""The data modeling software gave additional insights for debugging in the case of circular foreign keys.""Its ease of use is valuable. It's pretty straightforward. With minimal training or with minimal guidance, it can be used."

"Informatica Test Data Management is a complete solution. I'm not very deep in the technical aspect of the solution, but most of the workflows are now completely automated. There are some minor elements where we have to still add manual parts to the implementation.""The tool enabled us to leverage Teradata Parallel Transporter to write the masked data efficiently to our Teradata warehouse.""Organizations working on different projects can benefit from this tool."

Cons
"The synthetic data-generating element of the tool is relatively new, so we sometimes encounter bugs, though when we inform DATPROF, they act quickly to fix any issues. Of course, the fewer bugs we face, the better.""From what I know, there are some challenges with respect to the number of data formats that can be made available. This is something that can be improved.""Although it is possible to mask flat files inside DATPROF Privacy, the current solution is solid. However, it can be improved with an improved user interface.""I feel that we have to do a lot of reworking of the template implementations... Maybe it is a limitation, but as a customer, it feels like we need to start from scratch every time. It would help if we could reuse at least some of what we have already done.""Right now, we need to make process agreements with our supplier to keep our source and target database in line with the current production version. This may become an issue when (if) we reach a CI/CD level with multiple releases per day.""We organized the orchestration via ServiceNow/Runbook. It would be nice if DatProf software had this functionality as well.""The product could be improved by adding functions to mask flat files and XML data.""They could improve the solution by expanding the APIs. If there were options to integrate it with other solutions, that would help."

More DATPROF Cons →

"Probably the ideal time testing site, utilizing self-service for real-time testing, could be an area for improvement.""Informatica has a data governance suite, and at the moment, there is no connection between the data governance elements, such as the data catalog, and the Informatica Test Data Management software. For example, the data discovery which is part of both solutions is two separate things. If you have a data discovery in the data catalog, then we cannot use it for Informatica Test Data Management purposes and vice versa. The same software vendor, has two different products, with the same functionality. There's was no need to separate things. This is something which was a problem in a use case of the customer where this was the reason why they didn't choose the Informatica solution.""The UI experience is a little bit old. When applying more than 80 columns, it means doing it in phases, as it won't allow it in one go."

    Overview

At DATPROF we see and understand the struggle and challenge of software development teams with test data. These data issues have different appearances. It can be in finding or understanding your test data: which set of data should be used to cover your test cases properly? Or it can be getting in control of your test data: do you also have a “test data ghost” - sometimes your test data is there and a second later in can be gone. Or it can be about the challenge of getting compliant without losing the representativeness of data in your development stages. And then there are things called data or databases. Software development teams need to work with test data, but they generally don’t spend too much time on databases or data content in flat formats. Software teams rather spend time in delivering beautiful new code or validating the quality of the software code, as you should. That’s what you love, and that “database thing”, well that’s a need-to-have.

We envision to solve this issue. We want to make sure your life is once again centred upon delivering or validating software code and quality. We take care that test data is easy accessible and readily available, so you can take care of software quality.

We improve and innovate our test data software with the latest technologies every single day to support medium to large size organizations to ensure an even better fit with our DATPROF products. The DATPROF test data management suite is module based, so it enables you to select and deploy the modules that fits your needs in your digital transformation stage.
