We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature of DataMiner is its comprehensiveness. It provides an open driver that allows you to customize and program each aspect of the system. Additionally, there are many separate modules available that can be used to enhance the system's capabilities beyond just monitoring, allowing you to manage your entire workflow. This is a valuable feature that makes troubleshooting easier and helps to optimize the use of the system.""The solution is user-friendly and is readily customizable, which allows us to do control and monitoring in a single stage.""Data Miner allows you to take control. It has an API to talk to different products, including drivers to talk to the APIs of third-party products. You can control it from the screen."

"ExtremeCloud IQ is an intuitive platform. The tool's ability to streamline network operations depends on the end customer. Sometimes it's quicker, and sometimes it takes much longer. It helps me to address network problems.""HiveManager is extremely easy to use for anyone with little network experience.""ExtremeCloud IQ is a complete package with the pilot and the co-pilot feature that gives me full visibility of the network.""App and firewall security at the AP.""What I like best about ExtremeCloud IQ is its ease of use. Flexibility is another pro of ExtremeCloud IQ. I also find ExtremeCloud IQ feature-rich.""The Client 360 feature provides a comprehensive view of your clients and their activities, including the devices they use. Additionally, a feature called Network 360 offers a 360-degree view of the network, like data usage (in GB), the status of ports and AP, and other details. You can drill down on granular-level drills to gain insights into specific applications and usage patterns like application level and fee, where your data is being wasted or what your clients are doing with the Internet data, what kind of applications they are using, etc.""The few times we have needed help, Aerohive has been there for us and I am confident that If I need them they will be there again.""The feature that I like to most is unified management in a multitenant environment, where we can manage all our customers with thousands of devices (routers, switches, VPNs, and APs)."

Cons
"We would like to have more products supported by the drivers because there are so many products out there. If DataMiner has not built the drivers to support them we can not control them, we can only see them based on SNMP. If more drivers are included, it won't cost us if we have new products.""I am looking forward to the company continuing to improve its solution and incorporate new technologies. Specifically, I hope that they will allow their cloud database environment to host services, rather than requiring the use of on-premises digital or physical servers. The company is moving in this direction, but I am still waiting for this capability to be implemented."

More DataMiner Cons →

"Having a wizard for customers who are just starting might be helpful.""We'd like to have a cloud dashboard from which we can see all devices.""ExtremeCloud IQ’s user interface needs to be improved, and its current bugs need to be fixed.""From our perspective, we would love to see Aerohive provide faster feature enhancement in their Virtual Appliance to match the features with the cloud solution more quickly.""The dashboard and stability need to be improved.""Pricing could be improved. It could be lower.""Integrating the network access control solution can be complex, as it essentially combines two separate products.""Need port aggregation on the 2384 switches to take full advantage of ac on the APs. I understand that is on their product road map."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "DataMiner is an expensive solution and that is why many companies do not use it. Other solutions are less expensive."
  • More DataMiner Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Although the pricing is a bit high, I consider Aerohive to be well worth the money."
  • "Buy near the end of Q4 in order to get a deal."
  • "Bring the cost down."
  • "I would advise that you be sure to compare apples with apples. Many customers just look at the price per AP and licences, and compare that against other solutions. But, they do not look at the complete picture such as: TCO - how much the equipment will cost you over, say, seven years? Will the customer need to change complete infrastructure when they want to buy the newest hardware? Does support include a lifetime warranty and RMA?"
  • "For example, if you compare Aruba vs Aerohive, you need to check which licences from Aruba you need to match the functionality of Aerohive (usually you need at least three types of licences and a controller with redundancy). The same goes with Cisco, where you need buy additional licences for central management, firewall, spectral analysis, WIPS, PPSK, etc. Aerohive has a very simple model - one licence for all the functionalities - and you can believe that there are many. One licence makes it easy to maintain, scale, renew and you can plan your costs 10 years in advance."
  • "Start small and grow big. You can choose the basic Aerohive Connect free subscription solution and, later, if needed (in terms of functionality) you can upgrade to Aerohive Select."
  • "There are probably cheaper solutions but we invest for stability and performance for the longer haul."
  • "I did a multi-year license. It was a three-year license. It compares well with others in terms of the price. It is about a hundred dollars per year on a three-year scale."
