Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The technical support for this solution is good.""a true controller-less approach, where each Access Point is 100% independent from the management system.""The few times we have needed help, Aerohive has been there for us and I am confident that If I need them they will be there again.""It is more cost effective and gives more flexibility.""HiveManager is extremely easy to use for anyone with little network experience.""ExtremeCloud offers features that not a lot of other vendors do like their data storage and the ability to swap licenses.""The cloud-based controller through HiveManager is its most valuable feature. I can manage and configure changes to my access points from anywhere.""Whenever I have a concern, question, or just need a refresher the helpful staff at AeroHive is there to help me. By far, the ]best relationship I have ever had with a vendor."

"I need fewer people to do implementation and support, and I don't have to go on-site to change the configuration or otherwise support the switch.""ExtremeManagement brings in the most value by reducing the technical debt to the organization in terms of having to hire personnel to maintain it or contract it.""The report model is one of the valuable models. We are able to see all the information concentrated in reports, which is very useful. We are able to get the information about the performance of the equipment and check that everything is okay. You can get very useful information across applications, so we have very good experience with their management solutions. It has many functionalities to simplify the administration and monitor the development of the switches or AP. It is easy to deploy, easy to configure. and easy to develop. Its price is also good.""The best thing about the solution is that it is all managed from just a single application window. We call this feature a single pane of glass due to the fact that almost all the features are all managed within a single application, or a browser, to be more specific.""The technical support services are good."

Cons
"For me, the only issue is the potential delay in the tool statistics updating in real time after making changes.""Pricing could be improved. It could be lower.""We have had some mediocre to poor experiences with tech support: Conflicting information, condescending attitudes, and reluctance to work to resolve an issue.""The solution will show us that there are some issues, but when we try to find those issues, we can't see them.""The solution's performance needs to be enhanced because of a very high delay.""Their firewall configuration gets funky and it can be difficult to understand.""Lacks cyber asset tracking.""There can be an improvement by incorporating two-factor authentication or multi-factor authentication for security. Advanced network access control features and application control features should be added to manage applications. Many customers are interested in managing data, such as setting data quotas for individual users."

"It would be great to not need an on-premises SiteIQ license for running a Fabric OS cloud or managing third-party devices.""Some features are quite difficult to configure and they are very complicated to figure out. Maybe the vendors should introduce a more driven configuration that can clarify the processes a bit more to make the processes more clearly defined.""There could be better integration with third-party equipment and vendors.""They can improve the information period. Currently, we are able to have information for only 14 or 15 days, but we would like to have information for an extended period of maybe 30 days. Their technical support can also be improved in terms of the response time to the tickets.""It would be helpful if this solution had support for configuring and managing third-party hardware devices."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Although the pricing is a bit high, I consider Aerohive to be well worth the money."
  • "Buy near the end of Q4 in order to get a deal."
  • "Bring the cost down."
  • "I would advise that you be sure to compare apples with apples. Many customers just look at the price per AP and licences, and compare that against other solutions. But, they do not look at the complete picture such as: TCO - how much the equipment will cost you over, say, seven years? Will the customer need to change complete infrastructure when they want to buy the newest hardware? Does support include a lifetime warranty and RMA?"
  • "For example, if you compare Aruba vs Aerohive, you need to check which licences from Aruba you need to match the functionality of Aerohive (usually you need at least three types of licences and a controller with redundancy). The same goes with Cisco, where you need buy additional licences for central management, firewall, spectral analysis, WIPS, PPSK, etc. Aerohive has a very simple model - one licence for all the functionalities - and you can believe that there are many. One licence makes it easy to maintain, scale, renew and you can plan your costs 10 years in advance."
  • "Start small and grow big. You can choose the basic Aerohive Connect free subscription solution and, later, if needed (in terms of functionality) you can upgrade to Aerohive Select."
  • "There are probably cheaper solutions but we invest for stability and performance for the longer haul."
  • "I did a multi-year license. It was a three-year license. It compares well with others in terms of the price. It is about a hundred dollars per year on a three-year scale."

  • "The support is billed on a yearly basis, and there are no additional costs."
  • "It has a good price. There is a good relationship between the cost and the performance."
  • "While they don't consider it affordable, they don't find it overly expensive."
