Enables customers to manage security effortlessly with intuitive features and easy integration
In terms of improvements for Fortinet FortiGate, they could offer evaluation licenses, as compared to Meraki, which provides a 90-day evaluation. In Fortinet FortiGate, they do not provide standard evaluation licenses; instead, we need to request them from the OEM through the account manager for POCs. If we want to conduct a demo, we need to work with real hardware. In comparison to Cisco, we have DCloud, which helps with providing demos to customers, but in Meraki, I need to reach out to them, book a lab, and they need to provide all the hardware. I need remote access and L3 engineers to program it; only then can I offer a real-time demo to the customer.

Check Point Quantum Force (NGFW) can be improved in several areas. First, the interface could be a little more intuitive for new users. The Smart Console is powerful, but it has a steep learning curve when you start using it. Some simple functions for common tasks would help. Second, the initial setup and configuration take quite a bit of time and expertise. It would be helpful if there were more guides, wizards, or templates to speed that up. Third, the price model could be more transparent and flexible. The license cost can add up quickly, specifically when you want to add more advanced features. Finally, I would appreciate seeing better integration with some third-party security tools we use. Right now, we have to do a lot of manual work to make everything talk to each other. Overall, these are minor things. The core product is really solid and does what it is supposed to do very well. The documentation could be more comprehensive in some areas. When we run into issues, the documentation does not have clear answers, so we end up contacting support. Speaking of support, the response time could be faster sometimes. We have had cases where we need help with a certain security issue, and it takes longer than we would prefer to get a response. As for features, it would be nice to have more general reporting options so we can customize reports for different teams and stakeholders without having to do manual work afterward. One more thing, better mobile access to the dashboard would be helpful. Sometimes we need to check on security alerts when we are away from the office, and the mobile experience is not as smooth as it could be. Again, these are improvements that would make it even better, not issues with the core product itself.

Protects from attack software and hacking but it doesn't provide the reports in a readable format
In my opinion, image clarity is very important, because I don't get the proper image product on reports. This means that functionality is not there. My engineer does not know how he can replace an order. We attach a log after any kind of keys using a utility instead. For the internet policies that we are implementing, the policy should be based on proper protocols. We use the default policies and there are a number of third-party protocols that appear here. Management with WatchGuard XTM means that out of policy is the problem from our side. In this way, we can not do effective services for people with this one. The policy definition with WatchGuard XTM is not proper for all use case requirements. I've got weekly business reports that I am expecting attachments with from WatchGuard XTM that display data for all kinds of consideration which should be required. Main User Functionality Level Order must adhere to using the admin functionality on the registry, or else our users publish their own name. Maybe these recommendations are irrelevant, but I say that the issue to improve most with WatchGuard XTM is the Main User Function.

Pros

"It's easy to manage. The GUI is very simple, and what is very good is that every product, regardless of size, has the same interface."
"Advanced routing (RIP, OSPF, BGP, PBR). It gives you a seamless and simple integration into a large network."
"The initial setup of Fortinet FortiGate was straightforward."
"Fortinet FortiGate is stable. It's used across all the countries, this is the way most multinationals run their system."
"The solution has a variety of excellent features."
"The dynamic segmentation feature in Fortinet FortiGate is pretty good."
"Overall, it’s a good solution, and I would recommend it to others."
"The main reason why I purchased the particular unit was that it had good reviews and what other people were saying as far as its completeness and its leading capabilities in terms of endpoint security was very good."
"The solution is robust and can handle heavy workloads and user traffic well. The product is good."
"The most valuable feature is the central management system through the Security Management Server. Apart from that, the graphical user interface helps us to do things easily."
"Check Point Quantum Force (NGFW) has positively impacted my organization by securing the network and providing great connectivity, which is essential since every work needs internet connectivity."
"From the logs, you can trace back to the rule with a click, which makes it easy to investigate cases."
"In R80.10 and above, you can view logs in SmartConsole. You don't have to open another smart tracker to view logs. That is the improvement Check Point has done which makes it better because it is much easier to find logs. This saves time, approximately 40 to 50 a day in one shift."
"The pricing is okay."
"Check Point's rule management helped us simplify access control. At one point, we had more than 1,000 access control policies, and it was challenging to manage them all. We cut it down to 300 policies using Check Point's management features, and we are still working on reducing this further to achieve the best way to manage policies. Its logging and monitoring enable us to trace and investigate suspicious traffic."
"Being able to access almost everything in one location manage all your gateways and get all your logs is great."
"This product has helped in securing my SQL database and web applications from DDoS attacks and SQL injections, improved my network speed, and helped me to set specific policies for specific applications which I couldn't do with other products."
"Simply, give this tool a try; it will generate great benefits in terms of the scalability and environment."
"Monitoring of network activity is included in the box."
"The product is easy to use and is the fastest way to learn about firewalls."
"After installing the product, we achieved awareness of our data protection needs and email misuse."
"We have used technical support for WatchGuard many times and overall, we are satisfied with it. They are always listening and there is a good reaction time to our findings. When there are issues, they really try to resolve them."
"Reputation Enabled Defense indicates that some websites are so infested that it's not even worth visiting them, and therefore saving the bandwidth of going through the detection process."
"A WatchGuard creates new ways to secure your network."

Cons

"There were situations of availability related to their switching solutions due to box errors."
"Fortinet could improve the windows opener or the virtual IP solutions for opening windows. The virtual IP settings need improvement as firewalls are trending in new development directions."
"The solution's stability should be improved because it is extremely unstable."
"Even though our currency in this part of the world is becoming increasingly weak, the pricing is now expensive for us. I have tried pushing Fortinet FortiGate to some customers, however, sometimes the transactions don't conclude due to pricing issues."
"The solution could maybe use more integration with artificial intelligence to be more proactive."
"The logs need to be better. They need to be more visible and easier to access."
"I feel that the reporting needs to be improved."
"Fortinet FortiGate needs to improve the protection, it did not prevent us from being attacked. Additionally, Fortinet FortiGate could provide more features for WAF devices. I should not have to purchase two solutions, it would be a benefit to combine these features into one solution."
"I primarily work on the network side, so my expertise lies in configuring and working with firewalls. I have experience in firewall policies and know how to configure them within CheckPoint, including blocking URLs and specific website categories. However, I acknowledge that there's room for improvement, particularly in areas related to application-level control within the firewall. While I can't pinpoint a specific area for improvement, I am trying open to enhancing my skills and knowledge in various aspects of firewall management."
"The one thing I have been continually asking for is a more robust certification process including self-paced study material similar to Cisco's Security certification track."
"While the solution is good, we wish to have something that is a bit better, as the threats have evolved over time."
"The command line is very difficult to use, which is one of the biggest drawbacks of this solution."
"IoT should be considered in future development."
"The current model is predominantly hardware appliance-based, which can incur substantial costs"
"The SmartConsole to manage Checkpoint Next Generation Firewalls takes a long time to load and gets stuck sometimes."
"Check Point's technical support is a seven out of 10. Sometimes it takes a lot of time to get the right people on TAC issues."
"I’m not in favor having to setup security proxy settings instead of just turning them on like you do with the SonicWALL enhanced OS."
"One huge issue with WatchGuard XTM is that I'm not getting reports in a readable format. Readable means, I don't want Excel online. We repeat auditing when we trigger the report or setup calendar. That functionality is what we are looking for from WatchGuard XTM here."
"The VPN errors are not helpful when troubleshooting."
"Syslog (Dimension) is focused on presentation, but needs more focus on utility like SonicWall syslog (GMS/Analyzer)."
"The problem is the high cost."
"It's a fine product, but some features like the max bandwidth don't work well. Also, the VPN errors are not helpful when troubleshooting."
"Sometimes the local firebox management tool is flaky."
"VPN tunnel lost packet."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its pricing is competitive with other solutions."
"It was probably about $2,500 per firewall. It was all included. It included support, services, threat management software, and 24/7 FortiCare on it. Cisco products are more expensive."
"It is very cost-effective. You get features similar to other firewalls, such as Palo Alto, but at a lower price."
"They are very competitive, but we like to have the factory warranty taken care of."
"The pricing is better compared to other solutions like Check Point, Arista, or Cisco."
"It has a competitive price."
"Its price is normal. If I compare it with other vendors, such as Palo Alto, it's normal. Palo Alto is expensive."
"Although the solution's pricing is high, compared with other products, it may be cheap."
"Check Point NGFW can be expensive compared to other competitors, but the price matches the functionality and efficiency of the solution."
"One of the main reasons that we went with Check Point is that they provide a good solution for a firewall but at an affordable price. As a state agency, we can't afford Cisco Firepower. It's just out of our budget to be able to pay for something where licensing and hardware are so expensive. Check Point has really met our needs for a budget-friendly solution."
"The pricing for Check Point depends on your environment."
"The hardware cost is not huge, but you need to push for good pricing on software licensing and blades."
"An annual technical support fee is paid to maintain the equipment with the most updated licenses and versions and thus avoid vulnerabilities"
"Its cost is a little higher than other products."
"While it may be slightly more expensive, when compared with competition it is reasonable."
"The pricing of Check Point is fair when compared to others."
"Like all other manufacturers, there are a lot of features and different pricing. The best is to talk to a representative."
"It costs less than the SO works and others (like SonicWall, Cisco, and Barracuda) without increasing so much CPU use."
"Get at least a maintenance contract for the updates and take a larger WatchGuard than you need. A WatchGuard creates new ways to secure your network."
"The licensing and renewal is very expensive."
