Advanced threat prevention has protected our perimeter and simplifies daily security operations
Check Point Quantum Force (NGFW) can be improved in several areas. First, the interface could be a little more intuitive for new users. The Smart Console is powerful, but it has a steep learning curve when you start using it. Some simple functions for common tasks would help. Second, the initial setup and configuration take quite a bit of time and expertise. It would be helpful if there were more guides, wizards, or templates to speed that up. Third, the price model could be more transparent and flexible. The license cost can add up quickly, specifically when you want to add more advanced features. Finally, I would appreciate seeing better integration with some third-party security tools we use. Right now, we have to do a lot of manual work to make everything talk to each other. Overall, these are minor things. The core product is really solid and does what it is supposed to do very well. The documentation could be more comprehensive in some areas. When we run into issues, the documentation does not have clear answers, so we end up contacting support. Speaking of support, the response time could be faster sometimes. We have had cases where we need help with a certain security issue, and it takes longer than we would prefer to get a response. As for features, it would be nice to have more general reporting options so we can customize reports for different teams and stakeholders without having to do manual work afterward. One more thing, better mobile access to the dashboard would be helpful. Sometimes we need to check on security alerts when we are away from the office, and the mobile experience is not as smooth as it could be. Again, these are improvements that would make it even better, not issues with the core product itself.

Simplifies the management of complex data networks, but its technical support could be improved
Sometimes, we have to use SD-WAN support for the solution, which can be improved by adapting some features that will help our approach to network services. The solution can adapt some of the tools where we, as network engineers, can adjust to the changing application needs. Also, the solution can provide us with multiple support, allowing us to create a network segment. The solution’s technical support could be improved.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is a really good product; I don't think there is anything missing from the Check Point firewalls, and the features provided by the company are very good and provide what we need."
"The IPS protection is the most useful feature that I found from Check Point."
"We used Check Point for implementation, and they are top-notch. They know the hardware and software better than anyone."
"The VPN tunnels are very effective in terms of stability and quick connection."
"Extracting data from the logs and utilizing the log analyzer tool provides valuable insights and enhances the product's overall effectiveness."
"It is easy to control from the central management system. For example, if we have 10 firewalls, and we want to push that same configuration among them, we can use this solution's central management system to do that simultaneously. So, there is time saving in that way. The time savings does depend on the situation. For example, if I am running half an hour of work on each firewall, that will take around 300 minutes. However, if I do this work from the central management system, then it will only take 30 minutes to push the same configuration to those same 10 devices."
"We have not had any issues with the firewall."
"I think the VSX has been the most valuable feature for us."
"GajShield Next Generation Firewall's best feature is the network DLP."
"The solution's outcome is very high, and we often use it in a very high-traffic environment."
"Once it is configured, it is very stable, and we don't get any calls from our clients unless they have some specific requirement, like port forwarding or something."
"It is an easily scalable solution...The initial setup was very easy."
"It is a stable solution."
"The most valuable feature of the GajShield Next Generation Firewall is the user-friendly settings, dashboards, and anti-threat protection. Additionally, the solution upgrades frequently which is good because we receive new features."
"If people are looking for a good solution that is priced well this solution is best."
"GajShield has improved our mobile device-based connectivity."

Cons

"Check Point can scale but at times we have experienced some issues."
"The network automation and security automation could be better."
"The issues with Check Point Quantum Force (NGFW) are mainly related to reliability. It depends significantly on the hotfix version of the gateway."
"It can be expensive, especially for small businesses."
"We have recently had some issues with the stability of this solution. It is not stable."
"The graphical user interface (GUI) could benefit from some updates."
"Identity Awareness has been a massive source of problems for our deployment and the ability to debug it has been lacking."

"We raised a support ticket, and the project didn't get a proper response. There was a skill issue in TAC support."
"The UI for the administration of the firewall needs a lot of work."
"We face issues with some configuration parts that we don't understand in the solution, and sometimes we face issues with the VPN connection."
"The firewall configuration and administration screens could use some improvement."
"Gajshield can improve SD-WAN compatibility at an enterprise cloud level."
"Sometimes, we have to use SD-WAN support for the solution, which can be improved by adapting some features that will help our approach to network services."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing and licensing part is something that could be improved. Check Point license and pricing are a bit higher compared to competing firewalls. I think they can work on that."
"Maybe the pricing is a bit high but you get the durability and the duration."
"Check Point solutions are very expensive here. They're good, but they're expensive... Check Point is only useful for customers that have a big IT budget."
"The price could be decreased, because the competitors of Check Point Firewall are giving lower prices in comparison."
"Its price is reasonable. If we compare its TCO for three years, it is more reasonable than some of the other vendors such as Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc."
"Use the basic sizing tool to do the correct sizing so you don't waste too much money, because it's not a very cheap solution when compared to other vendors."
"It may be considered relatively expensive, but the investment is justified when compared to other competitors."
"An annual technical support fee is paid to maintain the equipment with the most updated licenses and versions and thus avoid vulnerabilities"
"GajShield Next Generation Firewall is cheaper than the other products in the market. The licensing costs for the solution are on a yearly basis."
"GajShield is a cheaper solution as of now. The subscription is yearly."
"It was about 15% cheaper compared to Sophos."
"GajShield Next Generation Firewall is not that expensive, and its pricing is better than Palo Alto."
"GajShield Next Generation Firewall is reasonably priced."
"The price of the GajShield Next Generation Firewall is very attractive when compared to other solutions."
