Financial processes have become automated and integrated reporting delivers faster insights
A lot of my clients are complaining about the SAP license policy. I think that is quite intransparent and obviously quite expensive. I think that is a usual complaint. And also the flexibility to shift between different products and getting some kind of credits. People perceive that as intransparent and also not really flexible. This is what I would say. And obviously, as the product is quite complex, it's not intuitive. But this is basically the business processes. I would say the business processes themselves are complex, so I think this is not a problem of the system, it's rather a problem of the business processes that are trying to be reflected in the system. It's not a disadvantage but just a perception clients often quote. Everybody can improve. I think it depends on what kind of support package you have agreed with SAP. It depends, do you have premium service, do you have the basic support? Obviously, the basic support is lacking, but the SAP premium engagement, if you have chosen that one, then that's adequate. It's not, I would say it's not a great experience, but it's a good support. If you pay for it, you get what you need.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Certinia ERP is user-friendly and provides comprehensive support for accounting-related tasks."
"It has features like bank reconciliation and the financial report builder which enhance operational efficiency."
"The most valuable feature of SAP S/4HANA Cloud is the uptime it provides from being on the cloud. We do not have to manage the solution. All the infrastructure management is done from their side."
"The reporting that we are doing from SAP S/4HANA Cloud is a valuable feature."
"If anyone wants to check data, like dashboards, S/4HANA also provides those facilities via Fiori apps. S/4HANA delivers everything related to the business process."
"It is a straightforward solution."
"Makes it easier to reach and read data."
"Real-time integration is a prime feature of SAP S_4HANA Cloud, as data is available in real time, whereas in other cases, data used to come with a batch process, and any transaction happening at any end gets posted at the same time itself so we do not wait a whole day to run a batch and update this data in SAP S_4HANA Cloud."
"SAP S_4HANA Cloud has OLTP and OLAP together in the same system."
"I like that it saves every transaction, so anything is traceable."

Cons

"The customer support takes too long to respond, which could be improved by focusing on reducing the time for issue resolution."
"The bank statement feature takes a lot of time and can be improved to make reconciliation quicker."
"The scalability of the solution could improve."
"I would rate SAP S_4HANA Cloud between five and six as from the cloud capability perspective, we are not using much insight due to additional licensing costs, so we see we still have a long way to go, especially from the data analysis perspective."
"A lot of my clients are complaining about the SAP license policy. I think that is quite intransparent and obviously quite expensive."
"I'd like to share my experience during the migration from SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA in the cloud. My primary challenge in this migration was the requirement to open a ticket for every request during the project phase, not during operational or post go-live phases. Despite this, I must acknowledge that overall, SAP has proven to be very reliable. To clarify the issue, after migrating to SAP S/4HANA, I opted to host my SAP solution on the private cloud by converting the license to SAP Cloud. The drawback I encountered during the project phase was the insistence on opening a ticket or service request for any issue or query I had within the project's activities. Looking ahead, I hope that SAP streamlines and simplifies this process for future customers, making it more user-friendly and efficient than my experience."
"The system is very heavy and requires a lot of resources and a dedicated team. It is costly to maintain, demanding trained professionals, which adds to the expenses."
"SAP promotes the cloud, but customers are worried about the security of their data. SAP suggests they have SAP S4HANA with RISE, which is a private cloud environment, but it is difficult to sell many of the customers on the cloud concept because of the privacy issues."
"I feel the solution is expensive when it comes to what can be obtained with open source software."
"The initial setup can be complex, depending on the environment."

"The solution is affordable."
"The pricing model can be complicated in certain scenarios."
"The pricing of SAP S/4HANA Cloud is on the higher side."
"The pricing is competitive with other products at that level in that category."
"The solution's costs have significantly increased, and we have not seen any anticipated cost savings."
"The solution’s pricing is very high."
