Extensive real-time analytics and superior support enhance decision making but continued product evolution impacts existing investments
Improvement is needed, and they need to slow down. When I say slow down, they need to do more validation. Things are going rapidly and changing fast. For example, they moved from SAP SRM product to SAP CLM. They bought IBM CLM and marketed it as SAP CLM. Shortly after, they bought SAP Ariba and discontinued the SAP CLM product. Now they state that SAP SRM is outdated and has reached sunset. The challenge is that if a customer has already deployed the entire solution on-premises, it becomes difficult to immediately convert to the new product and manage new license costs. From a consulting perspective, it appears that SAP's biggest competitor is itself, as they sometimes discontinue their own products to promote new ones.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Certinia ERP is user-friendly and provides comprehensive support for accounting-related tasks."
"It has features like bank reconciliation and the financial report builder which enhance operational efficiency."
"I come from a functional consultancy background, and S/4HANA provides excellent procurement solutions for inventory management. One of S/4HANA's best features in the manufacturing module is the ability to calculate product costs."
"Finance aspects of it and transportation management, asset management, and inventory management are valuable."
"SAP versions used to be quite cumbersome for the end-users. Now SAP S/4HANA has a totally different approach. They use Fiori landing pages, which makes life better."
"I like S/4HANA's automated features, readymade processes, and user interface. It supports various processes required by large international companies, like logistics, procurement, payments, sales, etc. All of these features were available in previous SAP solutions, but HANA has an updated user interface and improved integration with other systems. The readymade processes make HANA a good option if you're adopting a greenfield approach."
"The reporting that we are doing from SAP S/4HANA Cloud is a valuable feature."
"The most valuable features of SAP S/4HANA Cloud are the detailed solution costing, integration, and built-in analytics."
"It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
"The solution's most valuable feature is the seamless integration of different modules into one solution."

Cons

"The customer support takes too long to respond, which could be improved by focusing on reducing the time for issue resolution."
"The bank statement feature takes a lot of time and can be improved to make reconciliation quicker."
"There is room for improvement in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, particularly in enhancing the application's response time."
"The proposition by SAP does not match the value realization."
"UX design is not flexible and lacks compatibility with mobile devices."
"It's a huge software, and they need to make it look less complex and more user friendly. They need to work on user stories and user experiences."
"The pricing is way over any of the other ERPs, and the bank integrations are not perfect. There are a lot of costs for other implementations and integrations with Salesforce and other systems. Rather than being a fully-fledged system on its own like most of the other ERPs, it relies too much on developed integrations by the implementation partner."
"I would rate SAP S_4HANA Cloud between five and six as from the cloud capability perspective, we are not using much insight due to additional licensing costs, so we see we still have a long way to go, especially from the data analysis perspective."
"It is a complicated solution. So it should be easier to use."
"When it comes to the SAP PM material's module, it would be nice to see the inclusion of predictive analytics."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Its pricing is way over any of the other ERPs. I'd rate it one out of ten in terms of pricing."
"The solution is affordable."
"It's very expensive."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
"I feel the solution is expensive when it comes to what can be obtained with open source software."
"I don't remember the specifics about the licensing, but it's scaled and modular. You pay for what you use. It's not a one-size-fits-all license. You have a license for every single module. It's similar to Oracle."
"S/4HANA is an enterprise solution that many can't afford. You must invest a lot to get the most out of it. It isn't cheap. I rate the price seven out of 10."
"The license for S/4HANA is expensive, and the licensing structure is hard to understand. The admin license is something like 500 euros per user. Other ERP solutions allowed you to pick only the modules you need. The SAP ECC version requires you to take all the modules even if you are not using them."
