Room For Improvement

Catchpoint needs improvements in setup, user experience, navigation, API integration, pricing models, and international monitoring for better efficiency.
ControlUp needs seamless integration, improved monitoring, GUI enhancements, and additional features for better automation and complete insights.
This is one area where I would like to see improvement in the tool because many applications nowadays use multi-factor authentication, and Catchpoint does lag a bit in providing the end-to-end synthetic observability for applications dependent on MFA.

Product Specialist at a tech vendor with 5,001-10,000 employees

Valuable Features

Catchpoint offers synthetic monitoring, user-friendly dashboards, early issue detection, and global visibility, enhancing performance and reducing downtime.
ControlUp offers efficient ROI, real-time insights, robust automation, and proactive management with AI-enhanced performance monitoring and comprehensive visibility.
Catchpoint helps us detect issues before anybody could report them, which can impact clients because it provides prior monitoring that also sees outside the infrastructure.
Support Engineer at a tech vendor with 5,001-10,000 employees
Out of those features, the hop-by-hop breakdown of BGP peers is the one that made the biggest difference in my work because I have not seen this feature in others.
Manager, Observability Automation & Service Operations at a tech vendor with 5,001-10,000 employees
The alerting functionality in Catchpoint provides value. We configure thresholds for response times and failures so that our operations team could be notified whenever authentication failed, APIs became unavailable, or page performance degraded beyond acceptable limits.
Senior Software Engineer at Turing
Everything works exactly the way it's meant to, a dream come true for anyone who's administering systems because it gives you all the information that you want and all the actions you want to take, all in one place.

Proactive synthetic monitoring has reduced major incidents and provides global user experience insights
One thing that is not available is the multi-factor authentication feature concerning monitoring any applications. If an application depends upon MFA for its login flow, Catchpoint doesn't have the ability to bypass or monitor that flow for multi-factor authentication. This is one area where I would like to see improvement in the tool because many applications nowadays use multi-factor authentication, and Catchpoint does lag a bit in providing the end-to-end synthetic observability for applications dependent on MFA. This is one of the major areas needing improvement. Otherwise, Catchpoint has been one of the greatest tools in the synthetic monitoring or digital experience monitoring space, and I don't see anything else right now, but MFA is something that certainly needs some improvement.

Automation capabilities and proactive monitoring have improved infrastructure reliability and reduced troubleshooting time
ControlUp has a lot of automation in it. It detects problems and failures very well. It's not only monitoring, but it's also detecting, and it could even fix problems with a lot of automation that you can put in place to fix problems automatically before you even detect them. That's one of the strong points of ControlUp. All the automations, and there's a large customer-written automation. You can pick up those automations and use them on your environment, and it helps a lot. This is very good. It's not third-party, but it's external routines and automations that you can download from their website and implement on your side. That's one of the strong points of ControlUp. ControlUp, the way we implemented it, and the goal of ControlUp, is to be proactive instead of starting to work on a problem when it already happens. There are a lot of counters and monitors you can implement that will help you detect problems before they happen.
