Has required significant improvements due to limited features but offers simple implementation and good support
Boomi AtomSphere API Management has very few features. If you ask me to name the top two, I would say MuleSoft and Apigee, as it depends on the customer-to-customer use cases. After those, WSO2, Kong, and whether you say Informatica API Manager or Boomi AtomSphere API Management, they stand with only three out of ten features which are essential for API management. All the features that Apigee has, they need to add. All the features that MuleSoft has, they need to add. It is not a simple task. The problem is that they lack features. It is not their performance. There are many features to mention. When you take and compare all the features that Apigee has and all the features that MuleSoft has, they need to implement those features.

Many things are evolving with the AI buzz in the market. What I would like to see improved or enhanced in webMethods.io in the future is that since webMethods.io is already under IBM, I think IBM will introduce and integrate AI into it. Additionally, regarding what webMethods.io can improve is the license cost. Other cloud players are also providing the same kind of functionality, such as AWS and Azure. webMethods.io is being installed on-premises, but AWS is providing it directly in the cloud. When comparing the license cost and request per minute cost, webMethods.io needs to address that. There are many competitors in the market for this.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The stability of the solution is good."
"We can develop almost any interface that we need."
"Integrations take less time."
"We can create APIs straightforwardly and quickly and build jobs for data migration."
"AtomSphere is tightly integrated into the Boomi iPaaS platform. And Boomi has been augmenting AtomSphere API Management for the past couple of years so version 2.0 is better than 1.0."
"Boomi allows for more secure URLs and easy customization of HTTP and HTTPS protocols, which I find very beneficial."
"Integration is straightforward. There is no issue with it."
"The user interface, which we use to create the integration, basically has the data structures collected, is pretty easy to navigate, is a drag and drop style of working, and there is very little code required so the creation of the endpoints is very simple."
"What I like best about webMethods Integration Server is its portfolio of connectors."
"This solution is flexible and can be used across a number of projects."
"This is a middleware tool from Software AG, so when there is a need for EAI/ESB, or B2B; the use cases and implementations are plenty and can vary according to business and enterprise architecture."
"The most valuable aspect of this solution for me has been the configuration-based UI. Once you get the hang of it, it enables you to easily develop an API. In addition, it has many in-built policies that are quite handy."
"Broker and UM are the best features."
"The most valuable feature is stability."
"Based on the solution's usability and ease of use it is very good."
"The ease of mapping... is the single largest feature. It gives us the ability to craft anything. A lot of single-purpose technologies, like Mirth, are good for healthcare messages, but we use webMethods not only for healthcare messages but for other business-related purposes, like integrations to Salesforce or integrations to Office 365. It's multi-purpose nature is very strong."

Cons

"Overall, I would rate AtomSphere lower than solutions like APG or API Connect."
"To some degree, you need to know what type or amount of API you are creating - whether it's a rest API or web service API. You need to know ETL in order to really get the most out of Boomi."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management has very few features. If you ask me to name the top two, I would say MuleSoft and Apigee, as it depends on the customer-to-customer use cases."
"It's difficult to integrate the on-prem application with the Dell Boomi Cloud. We have to check to ensure the Dell domain engine is running. It just requires some service endpoints from our on-prem application to connect to Dell Boomi Cloud to make it available to integrate. It would be better if AtomSphere API Management were offered as a purely SaaS application, so I wouldn't need an on-prem component to make it available. We could make a test call or provide some connection parameters. That should enable it to pull the data."
"The API management has room for improvement."
"Most of the basic functionality is there in Boomi, but APG is a more feature-rich solution."
"The solution must provide more AI services."
"From an improvement perspective, the price could be cheaper."
"In general, when I compare their support with other vendors, I would not rate them high."
"Yes, there is still plenty of room for improvement in MWS, SAG Designer."
"webMethods.io lacks advanced monitoring and analytics capabilities, so my customers need to use something additional."
"Forced migration from MessageBroker to Universal Messaging requires large scale reimplementation for JMS."
"The on-premises setup can be difficult."
"I think that the product is not completely mature and they need to do some work on that."
"Their support could also be improved. They could be more responsive and quicker."
"The certifications and learning resources are not exposed openly enough. For instance, they have a trial version which comes with only a few basic features, and I think that community-wise they need to offer more free or open spaces where developers can feel encouraged to experiment."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Boomi AtomSphere API Management is a cheap product."
"The price is reasonable."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management gives customers a good price. Price-wise, the product is good."
"The product can get very expensive quickly if you connect to multiple databases."
"Some who consider this solution often avoid it due to its high price."
"Most of my clients would like the price of the solution to be reduced."
"webMethods Integration Server is expensive, and there's no fixed price on it because it has a point pricing model. You can negotiate, which makes it interesting."
"It is expensive, but we reached a good agreement with the company. It is still a little bit expensive, but we got a better deal than the previous one."
"Always plan five years ahead and don’t jeopardize the quality of your project by dropping items from the bill of materials."
"Based on our team discussions and feedback, it is pretty costly because they charge us for each transmission."
"The price is a little bit high, especially regarding their support."
"The pricing and licensing costs for webMethods are very high, which is the only reason that we might switch to another product."
