Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Data‑driven service dashboards have improved incident response and now support proactive operations
Regarding areas for improvement and challenges, complexity and learning curve are significant considerations. The platform is highly configurable, but this also means a steep learning curve, especially for administrators and new users. Proper training is essential. The initial setup and customization efforts for implementing workflows, dashboards, and integration can be consuming without clear process definitions. There is a risk of over-customization. The user interface has improved over time, but some areas of the platform are still not fully consistent, which can initially impact user adoption. We also encounter limitations with report customization; while dashboards are highly advanced and customizable, creating reports sometimes requires additional efforts and external tools.

Having everything in one location has significantly improved our efficiency and reporting
We need to be on VPN in order to set up and access the solution, and that has created some challenges. Even though it uses our Windows login, we still have to be on VPN. The product should be able to log tickets directly from system to system. We haven't got there yet and I'm not sure it's possible but it would determine the product's capability to integrate with other systems.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It can be used for customer service support, data extraction, data migration, and software installation."
"Automation Anywhere has surely helped our organization to shape its Digital Journey - It was our first RPA tool which helped us to perform basic automation which created Point solutions but has added tremendous value at the early stage. We were able to scale-up fast using Automation Anywhere due to its user-friendly AI and later on IQ Bots provided the required edge to handle the unstructured data."
"Once we implemented the Automation Anywhere into my company, we freed up a lot of their time, so they could work on other processes."
"In version 11.3, they have a good security option. Tool-wise, it's pretty good to work on Automation Anywhere. If you compare it to other tools in the industry. It is very user-friendly and easy to develop processes. We liking using it very much."
"This solution has been great for our company in almost every way possible."
"It is easy to understand how to use the tool. For a developer, it is very easy to understand the opportunities and how to use and learn these features. It is very business-oriented."
"We simply train the Bot by uploading sample files, and it then begins classifying, processing, and extracting the data within a short span of time."
"The vision and the journey Automation Anywhere is on is phenomenal."
"It fits for purpose."
"BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management is truly an enterprise-class product that assists global enterprises in day-to-day incident, change, and problem management, improving workforce productivity while being scalable and resilient, supporting all multi-cloud infrastructure platforms."
"The support of BMC is generally good and better compared to some competitors."
"BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management has really shaped Mahle, my last company, and their IT operations support system in a very formal way."
"We had fewer breaches, ninety-nine percent service uptime, and all these features were very good."
"I have seen changes in response time, efficiency, and user satisfaction since I started using BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management."
"Overall, BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management helps us move from a reactive support model to a more proactive and data-driven IT operation, delivering faster resolution times, better user experience, and measurable efficiency gains."
"In my experience so far, the best features BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management offers are its ease of implementation and user-friendliness."
"Implementing CSM has made us very efficient and we're now able to plan changes and the steps required for implementation."
"The most valuable features are problem management and change management."
"The best feature is the ability to create functional dashboards, where the IT manager can interact with its data through the dashboard using the drill down feature."
"Its integration features, orchestration features, and discovery tools are the most valuable. It is also pretty stable, and it can be as scalable as you want."
"We use the solution every day and quite extensively."
"The dashboard and the reporting functionality are the solution's most valuable features."
"The dashboard is very useful to get a quick overview of current tasks."
"Clear processes with transparent responsibilities led to more efficiencies within the teams."

Cons

"With respect to the user interface, everything works well, but the community expects more clear documentation with respect to use cases and end-to-end use cases, so one can understand how to handle these scenarios effectively."
"A2019 should have more improvement for developers, as it was in v11.x."
"Reliability and error handling should be improved."
"In the Microsoft Excel features, it needs a command to wait for a calculation to complete."
"Automation Anywhere can be improved with respect to the user-friendliness of the interface because most of the competitors are now using a flowchart-like structure, thus making it easy for anyone to learn and study it."
"The initial implementation of Automation Anywhere regarding the elastic search and database set connection can be a little difficult. However, I am skilled enough to get through it. There were some balancing issues that my other team members had to manage. They are having difficulty in balancing when I checked the architecture properly. We determined later that there was no need for a load balance to be done on the servers. We didn't do any load balancing and then the elastic search was not done."
"I have had a couple of crashes and issues."
"I had an issue lasting for the better part of three years, and it was quite severe."
"BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management can be improved because it has a legacy system that needs enhancement. The interface needs improvement because it is not very user-friendly."
"There are several areas where BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management could be improved. Currently, ServiceNow has an edge when it comes to the ease of discovering Configuration Items (CIs)."
"The main problem that I found is that once we receive the incident, we cannot change it to a work order. That is not possible at all in BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management."
"For me, there was only one thing that could improve BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management."
"Regarding areas for improvement and challenges, complexity and learning curve are significant considerations."
"BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management is powerful, but there are areas where I think it could be improved, such as user interface simplification, faster AI learning, and context awareness."
"Regarding my main use case or how BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management works with cloud environments, I believe it needs more interoperability and integration with data platforms such as Salesforce, Snowflake, and Databricks, which requires improvement."
"An improvement needed for BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management would be to have assisted guides or templates on how to use the application or the best-suited applications to carry out the use cases, which would help other teams implement BMC Helix Enterprise Service Management."
"Access is only available if we're on VPN."
"They need to improve their mobile interface, as well as features regarding the extension of the mobile access to the end user."
"Agile delivery should be supported."
"We need to be on VPN in order to set up and access the solution, and that has created some challenges."
"Application service mapping, GRC, SecOps, and things like that need improvement."
"Areas for improvement would be the service catalog and customer catalog, which is not very user-friendly. The shopping cart experience is also terrible - you submit and go straight to the cart, you can't continue shopping or see your overall cost."
"The solution could be more user-friendly."
"The stability, specifically in the on-premises deployment model, could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I do not know the price, but I am told that it is cheaper than UiPath."
"On a scale of one to ten with ten being the most expensive, I rate the price of Automation Anywhere an eight out of ten."
"I am not sure about the costs, but two Bot Runners and four Bot Creators may cost approximately 1CR."
"There is a free trial so that they can get an overview, and there are different licenses that are very affordable and can suit every business model."
"The cost for scalability is much cheaper than developing a new system."
"The cost is high for small-scale businesses but it is fine for medium and large enterprises. Its high licensing cost may affect small-scale businesses. Reducing licensing costs would benefit many users."
"I'm not sure what the monthly licensing cost is, as that is taken care of by another team, but I would say it's around $100,000."
"We are currently negotiating a contract. Depending upon that, we will definitely look at increasing usage."
