Enterprise Architect at a mining and metals company with 10,001+ employees
Intuitive toolset engages users effectively in agile projects
I would recommend Bizagi depending on the maturity of the organization. For those just starting, it's a good tool to get into business modeling. In more mature environments, I might not pick this toolset because it doesn't integrate with live systems well. Overall, I would rate Bizagi between eight to nine.

Architect at Evoke
A simple and lightweight college course automation system with third-party integrations
The initial setup is straightforward and can be completed with the environment within an hour. First, take the latest from the git repository and check the git code to the monitor studio and a bar file, a deployable Bonita archive file. Then, take that process to the Bonita server, running at runtime on another server. Finally, deploy and enable it by selecting the proper organization.

Efficient documentation generation through organized model structure with a good price-performance ratio
Whenever I begin a new project with Sparx, I have to spend time training people on how to use it since it is not straightforward. Although it's a powerful product with plenty of features, it's not easy for even experienced users to find their way without guidance. This is not the most user-friendly solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The documentation capabilities are very good, very structured documents and process versions are valuable features, and being able to communicate that to our customers is also a very good feature."
"The initial setup is super simple."
"The visualizations and attachments provided by the product are valuable."
"Agility is most valuable because we can develop so much faster than other tools. We can make requirements, develop, and go out to production much faster. So, agility in the software cycle is most valuable."
"The most valuable feature is that it is compatible with Visual Studio and .NET, and we can program it."
"What I like about Bizagi is you just add data, you say this user is using this in the flow chart, and then you add some forms."
"Bizagi is a very powerful business process management engine, and you can take very niche processes and map them completely using the Bizagi engine."
"Business process modelling and simulation."
"I really enjoy using the workflow management tool."
"Bonita is user-friendly, and the features are useful."
"The Connector implementation is a great addition to an out-of-box solution providing robust features for the developer to build hassle-free integrations."
"This product is very easy-to-use and user-friendly."
"Bonitasoft helped us automate complicated and labor intensive processes"
"It is a great product that is powerful in developing applications."
"With Bonita BPM, you can run the process (as it will in the final stage) immediately after the design stage, giving you 100% control over the quality of your processes and flows."
"I think Bizagi is a powerful software or tool for organization, but Bonita is user-friendly and easy-to-use — easier to use for development."
"The most valuable feature of Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect is the value streams."
"The company has become more efficient and reduced its budget."
"I have found the Meta Model tuning feature useful as it provides me with an overview of all my work needs."
"Using Sparx Enterprise Architect allowed my customer to detail and make the company's IT strategy visible and accessible to all."
"The stability of Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect is fine."
"The features I find most valuable is the ability to create a document and then put it into a OneCare artifact."
"Simplified our task at maintaining architecture information and traceability with requirements."
"In terms of product features, I'm very happy with the support for UML 2 diagrams, Archimate, TOGAF and the collaboration capability using a RDBMS back-end."

Cons

"The solution needs to make it easier to use RPA products on it; they may need an RPA-specific interface."
"Bizagi has been aggressively adding features to maintain its market-leading position, however, in some cases, this has impacted the stability of certain product builds."
"The data in Excel that comes out after running the simulation is a bit complicated sometimes to interpret."
"For the small business, this is very bad because it is still fragmented."
"It would be useful if we can connect Bizagi to other solutions, such as a local financial solution or Power BI. It would also be good and helpful to be able to connect Bizagi to some services solutions. It should also support right-to-left languages, such as Arabic."
"I think if they could go back to the modeling option or the simulation, that would be good. They also used to have a publish option but they closed that and it's now only available with the pay option."
"For the small business, this is very bad because it is still fragmented. The licensing policy should be more flexible and small company oriented. In micro-small companies, there should only be one or two. That's not the problem. Maybe it is too flexible, there are so many pieces that you need to put together. When you have a small business, it can be a little complicated, not so easy."
"This solution will work for certain purposes. I don't believe that it is capable of supporting an enterprise-level organization."
"The support is mandatory to access all features (Subscription), maybe they can have a different business model."
"It would be nice to have a wizard to help walk through the development process and create a backbone."
"The main issue with Bonita is that the workspace crashes sometimes."
"Bonita must add a rule engine. We are a 360-degree partner of Bonita. We can integrate with any kind of rule engine. We have a dashboard related to engine performance, but getting a configurable dashboard for the Buildium or transactional data will add value."
"The community edition has limited module functionality. If they could release some of the functionality that's available in the enterprise edition that would be helpful to those learning to use the solution."
"I would like to improve the product's load balancing."
"Installation could be made easier. I would like to see more automated processes."
"I have run into a lot of problems because there is not enough documentation."
"Weak in regards to data modelling. No logical or physical modelling or migration from conceptual to physical."
"The fact that you can do a lot yourself is a plus point, but it also becomes a challenge because you need an understanding of the programming languages to get things to work."
"We miss an integration tool like ARCSeeker which is intended to register elicited elements in a common repository with all their associations (this was removed last year)."
"The user interface could be more intuitive and support for a Mac, iOS or at least a browser version would be very welcomed."
"It has not improved our organization mainly due to the poor diagramming capabilities within the product, which are outdated and look like Visual Studio 2005."
"The user interface is not so good. It's not easy for someone to use it at first. The product takes some getting used to."
"It took me a while to figure out how to use the report generation features effectively, so it would be really nice if they had a way to make that a little bit more interactive and a little bit more straightforward."
"The initial setup of the Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect It's very complicated. It's very difficult to start with the right templates because there are many possibilities. The deployment took approximately two days."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This solution would be expensive for a company that has a lot of users."
"From what I know of the market, I think Bizagi is a cheap solution for process engineering. Out of the solutions I've tried, from cheapest to most expensive, would be Vizor, Bizagi, Signavio, and then Siemens. I used a version of Bizagi that my university provided for free, so I have never paid for a license."
"Make sure that your requirements are explicitly defined from the outset. This will help you choose the right setup and licensing for your needs."
"We use the free version of the solution because the price is in dollars, making it expensive for where we are in Brazil."
"It is not expensive."
"The modeler itself is free. For the whole BPM suite, there are other options that may be better."
"The pricing model is good; I believe it's free for up to 20 users, and then they start charging. I hear the solution can get quite expensive, however."
"We have no issues with the pricing."
"The price is fair for what we are using the solution for."
"The Community Edition comes free of charge."
"I am using the free version of Bonita."
"have installed the image of Bonita BPM on Amazon AWS and there is just one option to use and pay for."
"The product's pricing is acceptable. Pricing is yearly."
"Price to service ratio with Bonita BPM is good."
"You pay an annual fee and can have an unlimited number of processes and users."
"Licensing cost for the Enterprise edition comes out to be around 40,000 a year. There is also a Community edition, which is free. Some customers can go for the Community edition, but some of them require the Enterprise edition. Big companies go for the Enterprise edition, which comes with a lot of additional features such as a mobile app."
"Pricing and licensing is very attractive, simple, and straightforward."
"It is very economical and low cost. You have to pay for a one-time license, and it is active forever."
"The solution is quite expensive."
"In terms of cost, Sparx EA is probably one of the cheapest tools I have ever used."
"Its price is very good for the value that you get with it."
"Licenses are pretty low cost compared to, for example, ARIS."
"It’s the best deal in town, by far."
"There is no license required for this solution."
