Centralized control effectively manages devices while updates require powered-on systems
I use Bitdefender GravityZone EDR for the grooming industry. It is primarily utilized for the office environment The features I find most effective for threat detection include centralized control policy distribution and the control of independent devices, such as printers, laptops, and desktops…

Enhancements needed for security alerts while ongoing training strengthens defenses
This year, I am going to improve some tools to be installed or maybe acquire some services to better manage our web services and work with my coworkers. Application fiber also needs attention. Nowadays I am making applications that are publicly seen on the Internet. I need some protection, possibly multi-factor authentication improvements. I am seeing, for workflows, some sort of ethical hacking to test our environment. Knowledge of everything, not only the product - maybe some kind of alerts - needs to emerge. I see the current ones as very low-tier, and they must improve.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One of the most valuable features is the signature updating in near real-time."
"The features that are most useful are the simplicity of deploying the package and the cryptosystem for managing all the situations on the computer."
"The setup was easy."
"The best feature for our customers is the ransomware feature. It is very fresh and powerful. Bitdefender also has a feature called Ransomware Vaccine. With this feature, when a file from the ransomware is encrypted Bitdefender can revert it back to the original file. It automatically decrypts the file and puts the ransom in quarantine."
"GravityZone can be controlled from the cloud."
"Go for Bitdefender GravityZone EDR without any second thought."
"Bitdefender is a well-supported platform."
"We like the dashboard, the console, the reporting. It's very easy to deploy."
"Trellix has done a good job reducing threats."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its area for threat detection."
"What we're using the most and what we found valuable in McAfee MVISION Endpoint Detection and Response are Web Control, Advanced Threat Protection, and Threat Prevention features."
"The most valuable features of the solution are the ability to isolate or quarantine devices and block or detect Ransomware and other well-known tools that are used to exploit vulnerabilities on devices."
"When Trellix detects some threats, the device is isolated in a quarantine zone for examination."
"The most valuable feature I found in McAfee MVISION Endpoint Detection and Response is the guided analytics or guided EDR investigation."
"This is a stable product."
"The product provides a one-click recovery of encrypted files."

Cons

"The product fails to provide guides to its users...I want the tool to offer some guides and hands-on training that can guide users who want to learn more about the product without the vendor's help."
"Areas for improvement would be performance and pricing."
"We would like to see password management integrated into the solution because I don't like having a third-party password management system."
"The cryptosystem could be improved a bit."
"The one thing I'd say about their complete MDR product is that it's too expensive, which is why I prefer to use an alternative SOC and integrate Bitdefender to a different SOC on their own."
"When patching devices for updates, if a device is not switched on, it does not provide information dynamically."
"There's room for improvement in terms of protection. That's my primary concern."
"The solution's workflow is very cumbersome and should be improved."
"I'd like the tool to become more like an XDR, with one management system and endpoint activation."
"The solution's downside stems from the fact that Trellix Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and McAfee MVISION Endpoint are not combined into a single solution, so from an improvement perspective, they need to be combined into a single solution."
"The alert feature of McAfee MVISION Endpoint Detection and Response needs improvement because for you to get the alerts, you have to log on to the portal. What my company needs is a tool that sends you alerts. For example, if it detects a threat on your machine, it should send you an alert. My company gets the alerts instead from the antivirus software rather than the EDR. If you want to see the alerts on McAfee MVISION Endpoint Detection and Response, you have to connect to the system manually. Another area for improvement in the tool is the reporting. My company needs weekly and monthly reports about the alerts, but you can't extract reports from McAfee MVISION Endpoint Detection and Response, so a decision was made to move to another EDR solution, particularly Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, next month. My company tested Microsoft Defender for Endpoint via a POC for one to three months. The resource usage of McAfee MVISION Endpoint Detection and Response is also an area for improvement because it consumes a lot of memory. For example, during the on-demand scan, you can't work because of the high CPU usage. You need to schedule the scans. McAfee MVISION Endpoint Detection and Response has a lot of modules, but my company doesn't use all modules."
"The searching capabilities for the IOCs can be further improved"
"Trellix needs to focus on gaining traction with partners and building trust among users."
"The dashboard is split across different platforms. For example, if you want information on Incident Detection, you have to access one dashboard, and for DLP reporting, there's a separate platform. This fragmentation means you can't access everything from a single dashboard."
"When it comes to some unknown fileless attacks, the tool is not able to detect them properly, making it an area where improvements are required."
"Trellix does not support Linux and Mac."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is competitive."
"Licensing is done on a yearly basis and it's workstation-based."
"We take the subscription. Only we're taking that GravityZone and protection of the environment and the system. We didn't subscribe to the detection response."
"The price is per license per endpoint. The price is different for everyone, but we find the price is cheap for us."
"I have very good pricing for the solution, which is one of the reasons why I am not switching to other products. I rate the tool's pricing a two out of ten."
"Price-wise, we have a better licensing agreement with Bitdefender than we did with competing vendors."
"Each endpoint device we purchased came with its own license."
"The solution's pricing is average."
"The price is reasonable."
"The cost is okay, compared to other products."
"The licensing costs attached to the solution are very easy to manage. There is a need to make yearly payments towards the licensing costs."
"The pricing is always high."
"Speaking about the price, you must use the product to find the product's cost for you."
"McAfee MVISION Endpoint Detection and Response is reasonable in terms of cost. It's a tool my company has been using for a few years now. It costs $25,000 to $30,000 for six hundred users."
"Pricing is a problem in South Africa. It could be cheaper here. The rand-to-dollar exchange rate makes it expensive for us. A 25 dollar endpoint cost becomes quite significant when converted to rand."
"Pricing for McAfee MVISION Endpoint Detection and Response is not that expensive, but it's not something that a startup could buy. Pricing for it is for midsized businesses. There's an additional payment if you want data retention for more than thirty days. They gave us data retention for thirty days. Then if you want longer data retention, they have the paid option for a three-month data retention period and for a one-year data retention period."
