Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Automation has transformed invoice and bank processing but still needs faster setup and better integration
Automation Anywhere AI Agent could be improved in a few ways. Since I am currently working with Salesforce and I understand that to compete Automation Anywhere as a middleware product with Mulesoft or Informatica, the implementation phase needs to be quicker. The POC is always successful, but the implementation phase has to be quicker. The business needs to understand this better. Automation Anywhere should get into the business team and focus on explainability at the business level, not just a technical thing, but in the language or discussion where the business team can understand. There is clear business reasoning missing right now. The learning is strong within the process for sure, but there is limited reuse of learning across processes, which I think is very important. Simple model governance for business users is needed so that anyone should be able to use or create bots on Automation Anywhere. Right now, consultants and partners are needed in place. Additionally, Automation Anywhere should have native integrations with core platforms such as Oracle, SAPs, Salesforce, and ServiceNow. It should have out of the box integration rather than going for APIs because the deals which are not getting closed with Automation Anywhere or UIPath are purely because these organizations do not have out-of-the-box connectors available.

Automation has transformed document processing and frees teams to focus on higher‑value analysis
Sometimes, we encounter system errors that could be resolved via support, but connection issues are more frequent in enterprise applications. However, these can usually be solved by raising tickets if you are part of an enterprise, though we are not, which makes it somewhat challenging. It is vital to ensure the connections of UiPath Platform are maintained because it has a larger community. If UiPath Platform website included more features and documentation accessible easily, it would greatly enhance the experience. Instead of continually needing to raise support tickets, having a documentation hub where details can just be entered to retrieve required documents would be extremely beneficial.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The majority of Indian companies are showing a lot of interest in recruiting students who are trained in this Automation Anywhere RPA tool."
"Our clients are always happy with the product and its performance."
"Its user interface is very understandable. Even a non-technical person can understand it. Everything in the user interface is self-explanatory. It is quite good."
"Just for this use case, we had around 300 tickets coming in every month. We went live last month and the tickets went down to around 80 as of August 20th. While it might touch around 100, over a period of around six months it will become zero because we have not removed all the legacy data. We are just doing it from the go date of when we went live. The target is that it will be zero after three months. So, it's working well."
"The development of the company from Automation Anywhere V11 to a2019 was valuable. I found many important and new features, like changing the way we write code and programming. It became much easier and very flexible in version 2019A. It became very easy to use and the recording was also good. Excel became very good too."
"We have had a massive return on full-time employee resources that we have saved by just using Automation Anywhere."
"The way it integrates with subsystems is impressive. When automating business processes, there might be multiple systems in use. Automation Anywhere provides various ways to connect, such as by directly using backend APIs or using the frontend. This is incredibly useful."
"The deployment was good."
"Since all three benefits are achieved—accuracy, efficiency, and cost saving—the business impact and dollar impact is really high."
"I feel Automation Anywhere AI Agent is better than Blue Prism in that specific context."
"By automating repetitive processes such as data entry, report generation, and transaction processing, I reduced manual effort significantly as tasks that earlier took hours now take minutes, resulting in clear time savings."
"Screen scraping credentials of whatever features that it has. The robot can log into the system, scrape the data, and enter the data into the system. This eliminates a lot of the manual work that the team had to do, which has improved the performance. Our teams used to do a lot of data entry, and this repetitive work has been reduced. The same resource can now work on some high-end work."
"The task capture and task binding features have been most valuable. These features make it easier for a team who are not that familiar with RPA to successfully use UiPath."
"Valuable features include rapid development and the scale of solution. The most valuable feature would be accuracy: The ability to perform the same job accurately and consistently."
"The UiPath Academy was pretty helpful for us in the initial stages."
"Return on investment is high."
"UiPath has saved us costs. In the six months of running it, it has saved us something like one and a half million."
"We have seen the benefits both in terms of cost-saving and time-saving."
"The bundling of the offerings into UiPath is quite important, so we don't have to go to several different vendors. We can try it out on our own and see if this is something we want to do. Then, we might bring in another partner or vendor to do some specialized training, debug the networks, etc. We're never going to get that capability ourselves. We don't have a large IT department nor do we have data scientists. For us, it's important that one or more of these skills are getting baked into the system."

Cons

"Extracting customer addresses from Google that are not in a standard URL format is a challenge for Automation Anywhere."
"I suggest increasing assistance from support personnel."
"I would like it to have AI and ML capabilities."
"Some things that I do not see as of today are interactive chat or video interface."
"Automation Anywhere could improve its integration with Python and other programming languages."
"We have still not explored Automation Anywhere to its full potential, so I will restrict myself from commenting on improvement areas at this time."
"Automation Anywhere is easy to use, even if you lack technical skills. People without deep technical expertise can easily develop scenarios."
"I struggled with understanding the use of different variables during my initial time with Automation Anywhere."
"The implementation cost even for a POC was very high, and that was a pain for all the customers."
"When considering weaknesses and improvements, the platform does not give us the liberty to use our own features where we can bring out creativity."
"The OCR and document understanding of Automation Anywhere AI Agent still struggle with complex and unstructured formats such as invoices with multiple layouts, poor scan quality, or handwritten fields."
"The variable management is really messy. When I look at the code, I don't know where the variable is and in which scope."
"Sometimes, UiPath support is like a lottery. They have many intelligent people who can get you what you need, but it depends on whether the person you're assigned knows the solution. It might be that they have so many customers and not enough staff. The ticket response times can be pretty slow."
"We have the new license, the Flex Plan with Automation Suite, but we don't have practical examples and we have found it a little bit difficult when dealing with it. We could use more specifications about it and practical examples."
"I believe that a better explanation of ReFramework and license costs would be something to rethink."
"They need to work on security."
"Improvements from product portfolio could be a product installation in an automated fashion, and support availability should be quick."
"When it comes to debugging, there is some improvement needed for UiPath compared to other RPA tools. There are features to edit the workflow or content of the automation file while we are debugging. For example, we have 10,000 lines of code that we have integrated by 10 different users. So, there is one integrated code and you are debugging it. After some time, you might find a line which is not an error. You may have forgotten to remove it or change the value to your desired criteria. It is really a pain to stop the entire debug session and just edit it, then start again at zero. It will do the same steps again just to reach that level or step where you were actually stuck previously. Whereas, in different automation tools, whether you are on the findings step or in-between a debug session, you can actually edit that information. This is good because sometimes the developer also forgets to add or remove certain values in-between a long code. I think this should be improved in UiPath. This should already be in consideration because I have been in touch with UiPath a couple of times because of this."
"The product documentation needs improvement as it tends to be self-contradictory and sometimes hard to access since we are on an older version."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I find the license pricing to be competitive and reflective of the pricing models throughout the RPA space, and I believe there is a lot of value in continuing to maintain the free community edition platform."
"It is expensive. Automation Anywhere has reduced the price slightly, as we have grown. However, the price is still excessive enough that we are engaged in PoCs on other tools."
"The cost of Automation Anywhere is high in Turkey due to the weak economy."
"Annually, we are paying almost one million reais."
"This is a value for the money product."
"Annual licensing costs would be about $100,000."
"Automation Anywhere is affordable."
"It saves me around $100,000 a year."
Information not available
"On a scale where one represents the most expensive and 10 is cheapest, I would rate UiPath at about two."
"UiPath's cost is moderate."
"UiPath is priced for the market and is even better considering the value it brings."
"The main problem around scalability is the licensing structure and the inability to dynamically assign licenses across robots. While I know this is coming, this is our main gripe with scalability: the licensing structure. Because we are part of a larger setup with our own IT supplier, who does a multitenancy setup with Orchestrator, to have more flexibility with the use of licenses would be very valuable."
"Previously, we were not using automation operations. I believe we have now reduced costs significantly, which justifies the cost we are paying for the service."
"There are some automations that save us thousands of hours monthly. These are automations that we run 24/7 as well as some automations that we run every five minutes for installing backups."
"One of the downsides to UiPath is the cost of the enterprise version. It is a little bit on the higher side."
"I would rate the pricing of UiPath eight out of ten with ten being the most expensive."
