Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution has been very stable.""I have found all the features useful in the solution.""The agentless architecture has minimized our software footprint at the client level.""It has helped us to provide comprehensive data protection with high recovery rates and a malware scanning feature."

"It's easy to configure multiple jobs and media agent locations for each server. We do offsite backups for all of our servers, but we also do onsite hourly backups of them. That has benefited us several times when we had an incident and didn't want to roll back a server an entire day.""There are many valuable features of Commvault HyperScale X giving many possibilities to complete jobs.""When an interruption takes place due to an incident, the signaling and notification are very extensive.""It provides us a good holistic view of everything that we have backed up so far. It also provides us all the recovery points. If we look at an an object that has been backed up, we can tell how many retention copies it has, how far we can go, and recover any data, if needed.""We have VMware, Hyper-V, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL. We have a lot of different systems, and all of them are supported under one licensing agreement. That's one of the benefits.""I'm a big fan of the reporting. You can build your own reports; it's very customizable. You can have individual reports going to groups of people or individuals. You can have them go out multiple times a day. It's basically a free-for-all as far as reporting goes. If anybody wants a specific job report every day, you can build it, schedule it, and have it go out and never touched it again. It's pretty nice.""The solution's stability is excellent.""Commvault can actually come in and assist you with aspects of the implementation - and they are quite helpful."

Cons
"They should improve the malware scanning capabilities, extending it to protect cloud application data.""The management could be a bit better."

More Asigra Cons →

"Commvault should keep and continue to develop the Java GUI.""Commvault's price is quite high.""They can improve the VMware recovery and VMware backup. There is an improvement area on the VMware infrastructure. They can make available what they call a VSA proxy. They can have an appliance-type setup to deploy VSA backups and help recover quicker. They can have an appliance ready. Instead of having to have a server dedicated to that and installing software on a server, they can just provide an actual appliance for that.""The integration of Metallic could improve. It would be a benefit if Metallic could integrate with multiple applications or platforms.""We are using a production environment with customer-sensitive data on it. As per our central bank rules and regulations, we can't keep our customer's sensitive data in the cloud.""I would like to see a more user-friendly GUI.""I would like to have a manager-level dashboard to review the backups. This is not from an administrative perspective where you can see the details of the execution. Rather, it would only show the percentage of completeness for each one.""The new HTML5-based management portals are very nice, but do not yet have all of the features of the Java-based client."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Asigra is priced competitively, but requires technical expertise to operate, optimize, and maintain its services."
  • "The price of Asigra could improve, it is expensive. We have purchased an annual license."
  • More Asigra Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "If budget allows using the per socket license and not the agent based with per GB counter for Dedup is the way to go."
  • "There is now a subscription based licence option that, depending on your environment, could offer a more efficient method to licence the solution if you are OPEX cost driven rather than CAPEX."
  • "New licensing is easy and affordable."
  • "Licensing could be better explained. Sometimes, it's unclear what features are available in different licensing models."
  • "Compared to other competitors and vendors the pricing is fair."
  • "In my experience, compared to solutions like Veritas and Veeam, while they do have their technical pluses and minuses, Commvault can save you on average forty percent initially, and then twenty to twenty-five percent annually."
  • "The price could perhaps be lower as well."
  • "Our cost is around $20,000 per month. The previous year, it was around $30,000 per month. It now costs less because Commvault changed the licensing type for providers."
