A stable solution with an intuitive interface and quick customer service
I have been working with Fortinet FortiGate, WatchGuard, Sophos, and SonicWall. I'm not as comfortable with SonicWall because of their UI and limitations. I prefer Fortinet above all other options. When it comes to configuration, I am confident in my ability to handle various tasks, including creating policies such as firewall rules, web policies, and application policies. Additionally, I can configure VPNs and implement load balancing, among other tasks. Overall, I feel much more comfortable working with Fortinet. Fortinet has made significant improvements by integrating AI with firewalls for threat analysis and prevention. In the past 2-3 years, they have launched FortiSASE and SIEM, and they also provide SOC services. Both Palo Alto and Fortinet FortiGate are excellent. While Fortinet FortiGate comes at higher prices, the functionality and support justify the cost. They promptly resolve firmware issues and inform all support providers about configuration changes.

Integrated security features and robust support improve network management
The solution was installed across two branches for a financial institution. One location had a data center, and the other was a branch office. For SaaS applications, traffic broke out from EdgeConnect directly to the cloud. Applications using the data center were channeled through the MPLS link…

Beneficial technology, reliable, and simple deployment
Our client has a data center and all the applications servers and servers are in their data center. We design a solution, for all their branches. If they wanted to access the internet or the applications, they route traffic to their data center and then can access these applications with FatPipe…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The price-to-performance ratio for using Fortinet FortiGate is always better compared to any other competitor, so they are rated better than the likes of Check Point or Palo Alto."
"The payment function for applications is good."
"The centralized management allowed us to manage 50 devices effectively, which I found better than Cisco."
"I like Fortinet FortiGate's antispam filter, SPN, and clustering features."
"The most important features with FortiGate are the web filter and application controls. We can control our internet usage and use the web filter for application purposes."
"The impact of SD-WAN on the network performance has been significant."
"The most valuable feature is the FortiManager for centralized management."
"It's a good product that significantly enhances security and protects organizational data."
"The Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform is a fantastic solution based on my experience."
"Many features are valuable for automation, connectivity, and throughput."
"The tool's most valuable feature is bandwidth optimization."
"The most valuable features of Silver Peak VX is the flexibility, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, the long-distance performance of the application storage is easy and effective."
"The most valuable feature of Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect is the boost."
"At the moment, for us, it is a very good solution because it has all the features we need and it is not so expensive."
"The most valuable features of Silver Peak VX are we can register our customers and they can receive free training and all the solutions features."
"The platform is valuable for bandwidth reduction."
"The most valuable feature of FatPipe SD-WAN is it's based on SD-WAN technology."

Cons

"The anti-malware engine could use an upgrade."
"The visibility of the network can be better. The GUI can be improved for better visibility of the network flow. Other solutions have better GUI in terms of network visibility."
"The scalability could be better."
"Some of the software stability could improve."
"The only issue that I have is with FortiNAC. The firewall is fine, but the FortiNAC interface is a little bit too jumbled or too complicated, not as straightforward as it is on the Fortinet FortiGate firewall and FortiAnalyzer."
"The Web-filter in this solution is not very good."
"The main aspect of FortiGate that could be improved is load balancing. Our management team does not want to buy another appliance for only load balancing."
"Some of the filtering is not robust, you can escape it with a VPN. Some of the users bypass some of the filters. It catches some but it also misses some, that area could be improved. It's functioning reasonably but there's room for improvement in that area."
"The support, which is the direct support from Aruba, has shortcomings and needs to be improved."
"I would like to have a physical appliance to use with the orchestrator for managing all EdgeConnect appliances. Currently, it's a virtual appliance."
"I expect automation in the Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform's next release."
"One area for improvement is the Intel support integration. The security could also improve."
"Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform’s stability and technical features need improvement."
"This solution is suitable for small to medium-sized companies. If we have large-sized companies it is better to use Cisco or Palo Alto."
"If compared with Cisco, then Aruba's pricing is very aggressive."
"They have to implement more security with it. The security, mainly their firewall functions, have to be included in the firewall features."
"FatPipe SD-WAN can improve the price to scale the solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price, in comparison to other products is very cheap."
"The price of the license and warranty can be better because it is very expensive."
"The price of Fortinet FortiGate is reasonable."
"The price for the Fortinet FortiGate is reasonable. Secure SD-WAN is free of charge. If you have their firewall, it's free of charge. It's very tempting."
"Currently, we are paying about $1,500 a month for three sites."
"Fortinet FortiGate gives you most of the features in one license."
"It's one of the more expensive brands. The 100 series costs around $4,000. They are similar in pricing to what you might get from Cisco solutions and probably other similar ones. They're not more expensive than other similar solutions, but they're certainly not cheaper either."
"Setup costs and pricing depends on many variables, but it's mostly affordable."
"The licensing would be cheap if we compare it with the others, like Cisco."
"You typically will license the hardware and you license the software to access the hardware capabilities. The price will range anywhere from a hundred to $300 a month. There are no additional costs."
"The licensing fees depend on the bandwidth. As an example of what we charge our customers, for 100MB without Boost, the price is approximately $2,000. That includes the licensing and the unit."
"You can get both yearly and monthly options in licensing. It is not expensive."
"The price of Silver Peak VX is expensive compared to competitors. There are licenses, renewals, and support that need to be paid."
"The price of Silver Peak VX is reasonable but could improve."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is high, I rate the pricing around five to six."
"You have to negotiate when it comes to pricing and licensing."
