Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Aris Connect opens collaboration opportunities between team members within the organization where they can actually submit change requests, navigate processes, and offer comments. It opens up the potential for BPM within the organization. I didn't see such an angle of a BPM portal with any other products. So I would say that's the best selling feature.""From a total cost of ownership perspective, running this on the cloud is more efficient than having someone in the company take care of the infrastructure.""The most valuable feature is GUI; it is very intuitive and easy to use.""The cloud version has the advantage that you can work on it from anywhere.""It's very easy to collaborate with. It's very user-friendly""The solution's most valuable feature stems from its being very easy to use, making it a very user-friendly tool.""In terms of using the cloud version, if you're somebody who, like myself, has got a lot of experience and understands measures and notations and things, basically it's unrestricted. You can do so many things. You can do your Archimaze, you can do BPMN. There's lots of stuff you can do in there and if you're a good field person and you cause yourself re-using things or whatever, then it's very nice, it's very easy to use.""In the end, what stands out to me is the ease of using the cloud. I don't see any distinct or unique advantages in business process modeling software compared to other application software. The cloud simplifies operations and removes many operational complexities, which is a significant benefit."

"It is the only product that includes capture content management and a process suite, as well as rules in RPA.""It has had a positive effect on decision-making in my organization. It helps us with our dispute process.""It has integrated UI and deployment models, and it has a deep set of consultant and service provider ecosystem features.""It's a flexible solution.""Its interface is well-designed and user-friendly""IBM has spent a lot of time on the connections between the rules engine and its other product, the core BPM platform. They've really centralized the suite as one offering now.""The solution's most valuable aspect is the fact it is highly configurable. We can do configurations very easily.""It helps develop applications very quickly. Once clients get used to it and familiar with the methodology, then they don't feel so locked in. It is able to add this element of agility to our clients' software development lifecycle. That is my favorite thing about it: You're not so locked in as you used to be when developing applications."

Cons
"It would be very helpful if this solution were more open and could integrate with other solutions like ServiceNow.""On an enterprise level, the ability to onboard somebody quickly is cumbersome because it just has too many things in it. It's got something like a hundred or more techniques and things in it.""I would like to see more support for architectural diagrams.""ARIS' flexibility and power add a certain complexity. And if ARIS could be more streamlined, I think customers would have a better handle on what to do with it in the end. So if you're not a tech geek, you might struggle to understand what you should do with it as a customer because it's that powerful.""Initial setup is rather complex. You have to find a way to isolate the complexity, and find common ground.""The price is quite high. This is one weak point of the solution.""There is room for improvement in the support.""The trial version of this solution does not give you enough time to learn how to use it, so it should be extended to one year."

More ARIS Cloud Cons →

"Sometimes, we feel like we are not getting the full features of the content management capabilities.""The UI of the solution is not good. They should work to update the solution and make it better and fresher.""One significant challenge is the lack of accessible forums or resources to seek help or information when problems arise.""The SCADA Systems are very sophisticated and have a hard time integrating with our older scales. The technical support in regards to the partner side needs some improvement.""The development UI is sometimes a little slow.""The initial setup is actually a really complicated process.""IBM Business Automation Workflow can improve UI flexibility and integration. Additionally, the solutions from IBM have to provide a paperless solution, allowing for digital versions of documents.""In terms of improvement, it could be less complex."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "There is a student version of this solution that can be used for free."
  • "The licensing model of ARIS Cloud is leaner and more beneficial to the customer. The new license model is great. With the on-premise, you needed to subscribe to many more types of licenses. Now there are licensed bundles available on the cloud."
  • "The cloud deployment is not more expensive. In the cloud, you pay for what you use, and there's no need for maintaining infrastructure or additional personnel, making it cost-effective. On-premises deployment, on the other hand, involves infrastructure costs and maintenance expenses."

  • "The solution has saved us time."
  • "There is still a relatively high total cost of ownership to actually implement, support, and stand up solutions."
  • "Nowadays, clients are looking at pricing as one of the major factors. For IBM products, they always think it is expensive for them. We are still educating our clients on the IBM FlexPoints licensing."
  • "When you compare with Laserfiche and M-Files, IBM is expensive."
  • "Licensing varies by use-case."
  • "IBM Business Automation Workflow has a flexible pricing mode, but the price is expensive. The price of the solution reflects the quality of the solution which is very high. The technical support is an additional cost."
  • "Our license is on a three-year term."
  • "It is on the expensive side, but it provides excellent supportability and an ecosystem that is proven to be a great fit for our organization."
