Has supported hybrid IT environments effectively and offers strong data protection
With Arcserve UDP, the most valuable feature is to improve persistent data, which I consider important. I use other products too, not only Arcserve UDP, as we use TrueNAS as well. Arcserve UDP improves the precision of data. I have utilized Arcserve UDP's data deduplication feature, and the data deduplication feature helps my storage efficiency significantly. I have used Arcserve UDP's continuous data protection. It is beneficial for operational continuity because we use it constantly and have no objections to Arcserve UDP technology; I think it is very good. Arcserve UDP's integration with multiple operating systems is very good and very efficient. This brings value for me since many of my clients have different operating systems like Windows and Linux; there is no problem. Regarding the deduplication and compression with Arcserve UDP, I think Arcserve UDP is still a solid solution that we primarily use.

Very cost-effective and well organized with good compression
It could improve its interface or offer a specific screen for the manager of the company. A managerial user who wants more information beyond the operational technician should be able to access it. It could include greater transparency regarding the volume of data trafficked on the network, as well as the expectation of deduplication. A more practical strategy could come with a backup policy model as a suggestion for both large and small companies. A simple suggestion is to visually implement the backup time as far as your physical media.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is easy to configure."
"The most valuable feature of StorageCraft ShadowProtect is the speed and the compression of the backups, as the compressed backed-up files do not take up as much storage and the incremental backups can be done in one minute and be backed up on a disc very fast."
"The most valuable features are that it is able to restore quickly and that it is able to virtually restore on Hyper-V."
"Arcserve UDP's integration with multiple operating systems is very good and very efficient, which brings value for me since many of my clients have different operating systems like Windows and Linux; there is no problem."
"Easy to use, good stability, and disk space gain with greater data protection and we were able to replicate the environment to another place or other platform at no additional cost."
"It works out of the box, and it saves my life a lot."
"This product is extremely user-friendly and it is capable of performing large-scale archive/backup (five+ years worth)."
"The most valuable feature is the duplication."
"The most valuable features are the special plugins such as SAP HANA databases, Microsoft SQL, and various types of virtualization."
"Bacula is pretty stable."
"It can be used in virtually any environment we have onsite."

Cons

"Taking a snapshot level backup with this solution is very slow compared to other products."
"We are looking at scaling up to the cloud and using immutable copies on the cloud. Arcserve UDP 8.0 does have the immutable feature supporting AWS, but I'm looking for multi-cloud support."
"The solution could improve by being more user-friendly. It can be difficult to assign destinations and choose which files and folders we need to back up. There are some aspects that are unclear."
"They could work on their marketing approach. I don't see many people leveraging it."
"I don't know whether the tool has VMware integrations. It would be good to cover this area if it doesn't have those."
"Licensing is an area that needs improvement. I have had six support calls in the last two years all related to licensing because the license would stop all of a sudden."
"The time to backup servers that sit in DMZ must be improved."
"This solution is very slow; if you select all of the servers, it runs for a long time, and even a full night is not enough to perform a backup."
"A more user-friendly interface (GUI) can be developed."
"We would like to see an improvement in the functionality of the GUI."
"The initial setup could be a bit easier."
"We would like to see an improvement in the functionality of the GUI."
"Relying solely on a desktop is a bit frustrating as its GUI isn't exactly responsive."
"We are looking for a unique interface that can rule both enterprise and open source editions. Such a thing does not yet exist."
"The initial setup could be a bit easier."
"It could improve its interface or offer a specific screen for the manager of the company."
