Managed cloud services have helped accelerate experiments with flexible configuration options
Sometimes the costs associated with spinning up a service, especially managed services, have implications. For example, if I create a Glue job, that will create S3 buckets and other resources that have cost implications, but once I clean up a Glue job, it does not delete the other accessory resources. Sometimes, I have to go hunting for what resources Amazon AWS might have provisioned and how it is costing behind the scenes. It can be complex depending on your level of expertise. It is not as easy to get started, especially when it comes to secure practices. Amazon AWS is more hands-on than other platforms.

Automated safeguards have protected patient data and simplify healthcare cloud compliance
ClearDATA Platform helped the healthcare organization, primarily used by healthcare providers in health, medical devices, and healthcare software, by integrating in such a way that it achieves compliance regulations as well as automated security protocols, controls, and monitors any cloud infrastructure risks while detecting security threats and generating audit reports. The best features of ClearDATA Platform include automated safeguard enforcement, compliance monitoring, audit-ready report preparation, and risk dashboards, all of which are essential. The biggest impact for my client comes from safeguard enforcement and risk scoring dashboards, as these features positively influence the organization by protecting sensitive patient data, ensuring it cannot be disclosed outside of the organization, and providing an overview of all security risks.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The dashboard is very good, the solution in general is user-friendly and easy to navigate, the product as a whole is very intuitive, the initial setup was quite easy, the product is reliable and quite stable, and the solution is fine for static hosting."
"The most valuable feature is scalability, as it is very easy to scale."
"Dynamic usage and flexibility in choosing configurations, and the fact that Amazon’s security team is much larger than anything I could ever assemble, gives me reliance that this run time environment is going to be more secure than anything I can deploy."
"A scalable and secure product"
"AWS is not an expensive product."
"The performance of AWS is excellent."
"Auto Scaling and CloudWatch Logs are the most valuable features."
"The initial setup is straightforward."
"After ClearDATA Platform is implemented, I received an appreciation email from the client stating they are very satisfied with the platform, and they were very happy with both the implementation and my recommendation."

Cons

"There are numerous use cases, and the setup varies from complicated to very simple in some cases."
"AWS should provide even more support and engagement to accelerate the adoption of new services and features."
"They're really good on the business computing side, but there are other services where they can do really well. They can improve the data analytics platform and the data warehousing platform."
"They do not yet have a complete solution for APM monitoring. But this, along with real user monitoring, is something that they are actively working on improving."
"When you are first starting, the initial setup can be a bit complex, but it gets easier after that."
"User personalization and robotic process automation services need to be mature enough."
"I would appreciate more direct support from AWS."
"RDS doesn't have shell access, which could be especially beneficial for Oracle databases."
"The reason for my eight rating is that it is not integrated with artificial intelligence, which is a primary reason for the score."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Reasonably priced and comparable to similar services."
"Some customers will provide their own license and others will purchase it directly from AWS."
"When you compare Amazon AWS to Microsoft Azure, the pricing of both is almost the same. There are some instances when one is cheaper than the other in one area but it is difficult to pinpoint which one is cheaper because it depends upon a lot of factors, such as the use case. However, the overall price of both solutions could be reduced."
"The pricing is expensive."
"The pricing of AWS was attractive for us, so that's something that's okay at least for this transaction-based system. However, we still have some concerns about more data-driven applications or those that involve a lot of heavy uploading and downloading. So our whole data warehouse is still something that would not go into the cloud because of the pricing model."
"It could be cheaper, and Amazon could also be more transparent with its pricing. I would first expect any product vendor to give me the utmost transparency on pricing information. There shouldn't be any hidden costs. Their service offerings have a bit of segmentation, and they focus more on SMBs. They brought them onto the cloud and encouraged them to use solutions on the cloud. But strategically, they should probably improve that and offer some credits."
"The pricing of Amazon AWS is high compared to any other cloud provider."
"It is comparable if you add in the price structure to an on-prem solution."
