Strong technical support and effective toolset improve workflow but setup process requires refinement
I have experience with Nintex and K2, but I do not have experience with Unqork. I am specialized in Microsoft products such as Power Automate and Power Apps. I have knowledge of Microsoft Intune and Defender, along with certain Azure components. I work for an organization as a presales architect, proposing solutions to customers. I am familiar with Microsoft Defender for Identity, for Business, and for IoT, though I haven't worked extensively on that. I have a conceptually good understanding of it. I'm mostly working on Microsoft collaboration tools, which include SharePoint and Power Platform tools. I have been dealing mostly with Microsoft, but also with other vendors. Regarding database services, we typically use SQL server services. We have not used Amazon RDS; typically, we use PostgreSQL or MySQL. On the Azure side, I work with Azure Database services including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQL Cosmos. I was previously working as an architect for U3Soft and am currently working with Birlasoft (B I R L A S O F T). My overall rating for Amazon API Gateway is 8 out of 10.
Integration capabilities excel and support for varied platforms enhances communication across backend systems
We mainly use REST APIs, and the solution's integration capabilities are excellent. It allows communication with a number of back-end providers and data consolidation. The flexibility to develop APIs for various platforms, from front-end applications to ATM machines, is valuable. Code changes and migration are straightforward, and it supports identity and access management integration.

Has streamlined API documentation and integration workflows across cross-functional teams
Documenting SwaggerHub has a standard and consistent structure of API definitions, and it automatically generates interactive documentation which helps the developers to understand everything. There are certain areas where SwaggerHub can go beyond here as formatting options for documentation pages are restricted, and the import and export options of API collections are complex in SwaggerHub. It provides various collaboration tools where we can work and do it. The strong validation against the API maintains conformity and reduces errors. That part is very great in SwaggerHub. Overall, scalability and stability-wise, it varies high compared to the competitors, but there are still certain areas where competitors are providing various customizations. SwaggerHub can understand those aspects and implement them as well. The complex import and export of API calls and collaborations can be challenging in SwaggerHub. If they can make it easier for us, that would be great. Their performance is degraded if there is too much load on the API. The customization and doc formatting options for documentation pages are restricted in SwaggerHub. A few of my teammates have complained that they find the UI unintuitive where it requires multiple clicks for simple tasks. SwaggerHub is a great tool, but these limitations can be addressed to make things better and easier.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"It allows us to expose our APIs and provides tools for managing them."
"Its security feature is the most valuable because it is mainly a security solution. It has easy authentication and authorization, and its integration is also useful."
"The product is really good when it comes to API lifecycle management, and it is not just something that includes the balancing part or the security aspect but also the routing and the fallback mechanism."
"It is a stable solution."
"One of the most valuable aspects of API Gateway is its native integration with AWS services."
"It's flexible. It was valuable."
"From my perspective of ease of use, it is very good."
"The product is stable."
"In my opinion, CA API Gateway in that security space is very ideal and it's one of the best out there."
"I love the API Gateway, especially the architecture, in terms of the composability of the policies. We approach it from a very software-engineering approach. We build on the policies, like legal blocks, and we deploy them throughout different environments. It's been working out great for us."
"Every API that we get from external or from internal goes through this layer first, and it should not be a bottleneck. That was the problem we had before. Now it's no longer a bottleneck. It's more like a throughput, this process is less than 10 milliseconds for any particular API."
"Layer 7 completed all of the use cases in one afternoon."
"These features result in faster time to market, cut months off project timelines, and enable businesses to prevent from becoming disrupted by high-tech startups."
"Initial setup is straightforward. It is simple and easy to do."
"What I found most valuable in Layer7 API Management is that you can launch the API from the gateway quickly and securely, making it less complicated to deploy APIs. I also like that Layer7 API Management has a good portal and dashboards and that the dashboards show you statistics regarding how many people used the API, etc."
"If you're looking for a complete API developer platform and securing your APIs, then CA API Gateway is a good product."
"The most valuable features are the collaboration between multiple teams and the control and distribution of specifications."
"The best feature that SwaggerHub offers is the collaboration capability that helps us the most across all of our teams, as we have a single API infrastructure but several teams working in different areas of these APIs."
"It is a stable solution."
"Since I started using SwaggerHub, it has had a positive impact on our organization due to better collaboration between developers and the quality assurance team, and it has reduced errors because of its automated validation."
"The product's initial setup phase was easy and not at all difficult."
"SwaggerHub plays a crucial role in order to bring teams and automate things faster and also reduce the man-hours and increase the work efficiency."
"The tool's most valuable feature is licensing."
"I rate the solution's stability a ten out of ten."

Cons

"I believe that there could be more features associated with analytics since it is an area where the product lacks."
"The API Gateway lacks the capability to directly facilitate API strategy development or user onboarding workflows."
"The integration could be improved."
"There should be more videos and documentation about the new features that are released every month."
"They could include more support tools in the product."
"There are features lacking in API Gateway, such as the timeout settings, which currently are set at 29 seconds."
"The solution should include change data capture (CDC) features that will help reduce workload"
"The user interface, in general, can be better. The user interface for the entire Amazon cloud can be more friendly. There are some scenarios that are not really easy to manage and configure through the user interface."
"We found a lot of stability issues in the 8.3 version. But even after reaching out to the CA engineering team, they were not able to diagnose the issue, so we upgraded it to 9.2."
"The previous version of the Portal was a bit more limited in terms of appearance customization (CMS) than the new version."
"Layer7 API Management could improve by assing more portal-based capabilities."
"Based on a lot of the other tools in the marketplace, the user interface itself is more linear and programmatic based."
"Layer7 API Management should give a clear roadmap of the product and where it is going, and they should not change the underlying layers."
"One item that we’ve had discussions – and they’ve fixed some of it – you had to buy extra products, specifically the CA Mobile API Gateway, to get certain types of token support even though you didn’t need that product for anything else."
"I see a lot in the developer portal. It's not that flexible the way we want it to be, so it's kind of out of the box and we can only do the standard features that they have."
"There is a need to automate the process of retrieving the SSL certificate when it has expired. Currently, the product doesn't have this feature automated."
"The review process should be improved. There seem to be some gaps, at least for us, for the editing part because we would like to have a full request review mechanism."
"It could be more intuitive compared to one of its competitors."
"SwaggerHub could be improved with better integration for tools."
"Some areas of SwaggerHub that could be improved include the interface between the code editor and the visual editor, the integration with private APIs, which currently requires an upgraded account."
"The customization and doc formatting options for documentation pages are restricted in SwaggerHub."
"In SwaggerHub, I appreciate that it is a powerful platform for API design and collaboration, but currently, the access control is somewhat limited."
"It has limited functionality...Unfortunately, some of its features are not what we need."
"We have to use additional tools to test APIs."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Amazon API Gateway is a very cheaply priced product."
"This is a pay-per-use service, where you only pay for what you use."
"It's cost-effective, even as our workload and the number of APIs we manage have increased."
"There are no licensing fees."
"I rate the tool's price as seven on a scale of one to ten, where one means low price and ten means high price."
"Amazon API Gateway has various pricing plans, but I cannot give the exact cost, though I can say that it's expensive. On a scale of one to five, I'd rate the pricing for Amazon API Gateway as two, as the solution is one of the most expensive products in the market for API management."
"Since it's a serverless solution, Amazon API Gateway is not so expensive."
"The product is expensive."
"We weren't comfortable with the pricing of licensing. It was slightly more expensive than its competitors."
"Be aware of additional licenses for your warm standby. Ensure you get plenty of non-production licenses."
"Pricing is competitive. CA is ready to offer attractive discounts."
"CA API Management has a licensing path. If you want more features, it requires more licenses and more installation time."
"Pricing for Layer7 API Management is excellent, so it's an eight out of ten. The product is less expensive than other solutions. Layer7 API Management charges you based on the number of transactions, so the enterprise-level pricing my company got was excellent."
"Do not buy piecemeal."
"Licenses are required to operate the product, but I don't know much about the validity periods attached to it."
"Layer7 API Management is cheaper than Apigee."
"The tool is cheap."
"It has a yearly subscription, but I am not sure."
