Monitoring end-user activity has improved visibility into device and application performance
In my opinion, Riverbed can make Alluvio Aternity better by having the same Aternity agent help in security, such as antivirus or EDR, which would be useful, allowing customers to avoid having multiple agents installed on their endpoint machines. Deploying multiple agents can use the processor and utilize memory, so it's better to go with one agent. If one agent can do end-user activity monitoring and act as an EDR, then it would be better for the end-user, allowing easy avoidance of installing multiple agents on their machines.

Real-time monitoring and dashboards with cost-saving licensing
SysTrack requires significant improvements. Sometimes clients experience broken links where the service doesn't run on the user's machine, causing outdated data to display. For instance, a machine's last reboot might be inaccurately shown as seven days ago instead of two days ago. Additionally, real-time data syncing issues lead to delays, requiring this to be addressed, as data might be several hours old.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have pictures from the backend, from a network or a server perspective, but we didn't have any user data; collecting that data manually was pretty time-intensive and relatively inaccurate, and with Aternity, we now have the data."
"The most valuable feature for us is trend analysis, particularly with device-help type of events and computer help events, such as blue screens, application errors, and application crashes."
"When employees complain of trouble with applications or devices, Aternity enables us to see exactly what they see as they engage with apps, allowing us to focus our troubleshooting and quickly perform fault domain isolation across branches, users, and applications."
"The data the solution provides is valuable to us; we can see the health of the machines, how they are performing, and what might be causing issues on a particular machine."
"Desktop monitoring, and being able to understand the performance of applications that runs on the desktop."
"It is very good in terms of performance; you don't have to wait forever to try and get reports or results, and it is quite quick to get everything that you need out of the software."
"We were able to identify bottlenecks in the application code that we had."
"The solution is highly stable and always available."
"The visualizer feature provides end-to-end analysis on all the machines."
"From a telemetry data standpoint, it's a perfect tool."
"SysTrack gathers a lot of different metrics on every single device including performance metrics and application-related metrics such as application usage and resource utilization by applications. It collects a wide range of different metrics, and from that perspective, it's a really good tool."
"When you search for a machine or a user, the way we get the information is very helpful. The GUI provides us with all the information about that machine that a user is accessing. It tells us about the CPU, memory, etc. The GUI and the details provided are very helpful."
"When a user calls in and says that they are having slowness issues, this tool has the capability to show exactly where the performance issue is. The Resolve feature that they have is very good. It is one of the main features. They are doing a pretty good job with the Resolve feature in terms of showing endpoint performance on various factors."
"We are using the SysTrack 'Prevent' module, which shows real-time discrepancies in the infrastructure."
"Cost-wise, SysTrack has a higher rate than other products, such as Nanoheal, but the features that SysTrack has aren't there in any other product available in the market."
"We have got a good return on investment because it was able to deliver during the pandemic."

Cons

"When they moved from Version 8 to Version 9, the customers lost so much control of what they could do with the product."
"We are not satisfied with their technical support. If there is a problem, you have to wait for several days to get a response."
"For me, the biggest problem is the price. It is not so much about how much it costs. It is about Aternity only giving you 12 months upfront. So, you got to purchase it for 12 months. A lot of our customers are on a per-user-per-month type billing. They are all OPEX rather than CAPEX. It would be a lot better for our customers if there was an option available for OPEX so that it is billed on a monthly basis than a yearly basis. They've got only Windows agents. They don't actually have mobile agents. It would be a lot better if they could also integrate Android and iOS because then we can start pulling steps and performance management out of users' mobile devices. That's the biggest addition I would suggest at the moment. A lot of our customers have desktops as well as tablets or mobile devices. We should be able to monitor that stuff as well."
"We are waiting for the GA release of their agent. I hope they can do better when they release their endpoint agents. Right now, we are not able to measure some applications, core applications, because it's relying on a specific version of the agent and that agent has not come out yet and there's no ETA. I would like to see them speed up time to market when they release agents."
"The thing that I think most companies like ourselves would want would be an easier way to customize custom scripts."
"The biggest improvement would be the ease with which you monitor applications. It's a little clunky right now; it takes a little bit of time."
"When it comes to what is called creating signatures, it's not easy for a non-coding person for desktop applications."
"We haven't had any outages of the SaaS environment, but what we're struggling with now is the stability of the agent."
"The solution lacks AI in its analysis module."
"If I have my system running, and I'm changing my hardware in the VDI environment, I want to choose a date and see the difference before and after the event."
"SysTrack requires significant improvements. Sometimes clients experience broken links where the service doesn't run on the user's machine, causing outdated data to display."
"Their dashboard could be better. They did it custom, which is the main problem."
"The interface needs to be improved because it looks ancient. If you have been working in IT for a long time, over 20 years, you might remember products from the start of your career that look almost identical to the way SysTrack looks now. The user interface is not user-friendly. When you first see the solution, it overwhelms you with everything. It's not easy to use, and it's not that intuitive."
"A remote assistance tool is missing in SysTrack, and it could also be enhanced with the additional capabilities of creating customized self-healing sensors."
"Lacks flexibility with regard to licensing."
"The tool needs to improve the integration with third-party providers like Cisco products."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price for Alluvio Aternity is favorable."
"The pricing is fair."
"It's not a cheap product. There are no two ways about that. If you compare it with a couple of the other solutions operating in the space, it might be on the slightly more expensive side, but it is one of those tools where, once you've got it, you understand the true value. You will get that money back."
"It is definitely a premium solution; it is not an inexpensive product. We have to ensure that we are getting the most out of it in order to justify the cost. However, it is not cheap, especially when you want to install it on all your endpoints."
"It’s a little on the costly side, but if you license intelligently, accounting for your various hosts connecting in through VDI or terminal servers, you can make it well worth your money."
"If the scale of your monitoring will be to go everywhere in an organization, a site license is key."
"Regarding cost, compared to other solutions, Aternity is pretty low. It's definitely lower-cost than others that we looked at, like Nexthink."
"The solution's price is pretty comparable to the industry."
"It is somewhat expensive."
"Cost-wise, SysTrack has a higher rate than other products, such as Nanoheal, but the features that SysTrack has aren't there in any other product available in the market."
"It is on a per-device basis. It is not on a per-user basis. I was not much engaged in the licensing piece. I was only a part of the conversation about how we are going to scale up or down, but its price, for sure, is competitive."
"I would rate the solution's pricing a six out of ten."
"If you compare cloud solutions to SysTrack, which is on-premises, then SysTrack is cheaper. If you compare the cost of SysTrack with that of other similar solutions, the cost is similar. For each master server, there's a license. In terms of end user devices, the licenses are sold in multiplications of 10. That's one upfront cost. Once you procure the license, you can use the software for as long as you like. The maintenance is sold on an annual basis. Additional costs are related to hosting and include a SQL server license and Windows server licenses."
