My use cases for Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points include having them for our own company internally. We are a systems integrator with about 900 employees, and we have a distributed wireless set with all Cisco, currently all Cisco 9100 series access points.

We use both central switching and local switching on those for various use cases, and we also have outdoor access points and everything. One thing I appreciate the most about Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is that something absolutely stands out, especially about Cisco Wireless, which has made a huge impact on me personally, even though I have been a mentor in my company for a long time. The best thing about Cisco, which I experienced over 10 years, is that everybody knows it and everybody knows how to use it.

If you look especially at the new series of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points and their controllers, Cisco unified the GUI of the wireless controller with all their other GUIs that they have. They call it Magnetic UI, which they use nowadays on all their GUIs. Talent acquisition is just so easy because everybody in the IT networking field worked with any product of Cisco in their life, and all Cisco products fit so well together in an ecosystem and also have a very similar UI and are very easy to engage if you worked with anything from Cisco before. In my opinion, you save a lot on talent acquisition and also training people.

Compared to other vendors I have worked with, you do not easily find people that have worked with their products or are experts in them. But especially with Cisco, there are so many people that have worked with it in the past, and you always have people that can implement, operate, and manage it. That is, in my case, the coolest thing about it. Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points has helped me to improve the interaction between my network, data center, and application teams.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points can handle high-density environments with Wi-Fi 6, 6E, and 7. I have sold and operated Cisco Wireless in production areas and outdoor areas for automatic moving. I have a lot of high-ceiling models in use for logistics halls, for production environments with high ceilings and everything. Honestly, that is where they shine. They have some really cool models.

The product variety is really great. For each and every use case, you can find a very specific model that does exactly what you want. I have a lot of the high-ceiling models in use which cover high-density areas where the clients are sometimes shielded, sometimes moving, sometimes moving very fast, and all those kinds of things. I am very happy with these environments with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points.

One thing I dislike about Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is definitely the price. That is always the discussion with customers because they are for sure the priciest on the market. The licensing is also something I could mention as a second concern. The licensing model at Cisco is always very complicated. Price and licensing make it a little bit difficult in most situations.

I have been using Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points for about 10 years. I work for a systems integrator, and we have them internally, not just the 9100 series but Cisco access points in general.

In terms of lagging, crashing, or downtime, Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points work seamlessly at all of my customers with very little interaction. Cisco access points, even not only the current series, the 9100 series, but also the previous series like the Aironet series, have always been very robust. The software has also been very good, always in my opinion. I have never encountered many bugs or many outages. Basically, you just install them, bring them up, and they just run for a very, very, very long time.

Even long after the end of life or end of support, they still run and operate seamlessly. The software upgrades are also very easy, just from the centralized wireless controller. You hit upgrade, it does all the access points at once or rolling, if you want. That never required a lot of time. I never had to invest a lot of time in wireless. Everything basically just worked.

Cisco optimizes for hybrid or distributed enterprise setups. The Cisco FlexConnect access point capability is definitely exactly what I need for our distributed offices. You can really easily choose if some traffic should leave the access point locally directly or be tunneled to a central location. That is called Cisco FlexConnect. We use that internally in our company as well as at all the customers because that is an amazing feature. That definitely helps for scalability on a global scale.

I love the overall scalability of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. Cisco wireless controllers are quite powerful, and it is really cool that you can have them physically and virtually. When you go for virtual wireless controllers, you can basically scale within minutes in any measure you want. You just spin up any number of wireless controllers, and you can control any number without limit of access points globally.

You can easily use Cisco FlexConnect, as I mentioned, to either tunnel traffic directly centrally or have it break out locally. If you have just some resources on your virtualization platform, you can scale endlessly and that very, very fast and very easy.

I have had to contact Cisco's technical support for Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. As an integrator, I am in contact with Cisco TAC a lot.

In terms of quality and speed, Cisco's technical support is really good. Of course, it is not always perfect, but I have also worked with other vendors, and Cisco TAC is still one of the fastest replying and also fastest resolving, in my opinion, not just in the wireless field but in general. I have had some TAC cases on Aruba and also on the firewall side with other vendors like Palo Alto, Fortinet, and so on and so forth. Especially in comparison, I am really, really satisfied with Cisco TAC.

I have used alternatives to Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points, but not as much as you would think because Cisco is really the market leader here in this area. I have seen Aruba and Juniper a little bit, also Motorola at some point, but Cisco is really, really widely spread. Almost everybody in my field here in Austria is using Cisco, so rarely, much less than you would think.

The initial deployment with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is very easy. Cisco has a multi-tier bring-up approach on the access points. If you just put them out of the box, they do a very predictable set of things, and you can easily set up a staging area. Onboarding them and configuring them could not be easier, actually. You just put up the wireless controller, set up the profile, you set one DNS record, which is predefined on access points, and then you basically just boot them up with reachability to the wireless controller, and almost everything happens automatically. That is honestly no feedback there, as it could not be easier.

If I were to compare Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points and Aruba, Aruba sure wins when it comes to price and ease of licensing, but in all other accounts, I prefer Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points do not require any significant maintenance from me. I would say this overall stability of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is quite one of the really cool things about the Cisco access points. At some point, I had some encounters where they were always almost running continuously, and you do not even realize anymore that you have them because they just do not act up. Then at some point, you have to swap them due to end of life or whatever, and then you really have to search for them because you forgot about where they are. That is something that, in comparison with Motorola, I experienced differently. They are very durable. You just install them and then they just outlive you, in my experience.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points have affected network reliability and the end-user experience positively. I am also an employee at the office, of course, so I sit in the office where Cisco Wireless is deployed. For all the time I have been in offices, it was Cisco Wireless, so as a user, I have never experienced a vendor change. Cisco Wireless was always very reliable. We have never had any outages due to Cisco Wireless in our office. I have no comparison as a user because I have always been a user of Cisco Wireless all in my time. There is no negative effect at all.

The role of AI-driven insights in enhancing my troubleshooting capabilities with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points definitely did enhance my experience. Since I have onboarded and mentored a lot of new employees, the new features that come with Cisco Catalyst Center, where you can also integrate your wireless controllers, and also inside the Cisco wireless controllers, there are dashboards that they provide where the AI-driven models that they have show you some data, such as some anomalies and something that could be wrong in your environment. I have had various cases already, especially at customers, where those AI tools inside Cisco Catalyst Center and the Cisco wireless controller showed us problems that we did not even know existed.

I do use Cisco security products with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points, including firewalls. The integration of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points with the Cisco security stack has definitely affected my network security management. We use the Cisco ecosystem a lot, and you can integrate your Cisco wireless controller, for example, with the Cisco Catalyst Center, which on the other end, you can integrate with the Cisco security server, which is integrated with the firewalls.

It is very easy to create end-to-end security rules from your access point all the way to your perimeter firewall if you have the whole ecosystem. That is all in one management system from Cisco where you can just identify an end client which is connected to your wireless and deploy security measures either on the access point or on the perimeter firewall simultaneously. That definitely comes in very great. If you have the whole ecosystem, then you can leverage this integration of your firewall to the ICE server, in this case, and also Cisco Wireless to the ICE server, then it really comes together.

There are features and support for a Zero Trust strategy in Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. That is exactly what I was talking about, in that you can enforce security on clients specifically end-to-end from firewalls to the access point by identifying them in one central management together. That is amazing. That is Cisco TrustSec which comes in in this case, the feature. I am familiar with Ultra-reliable Wireless Backhaul in Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points, but have not used it so far. I have not really used the real-time location precision with Ultra Wideband in Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points.

Cisco does optimize the experience in hybrid or distributed enterprise setups. We have a quite distributed enterprise setup. Overall, I would rate this product a 9 out of 10.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points are used for pretty much all wireless needs in new locations being deployed. They are used for employee access, guest networks, and contractor access.

The higher end models like the 9174 support Wi-Fi 7 and deliver excellent performance without requiring an immediate switch upgrade on the power side. I can run 5 GHz, 6 GHz radios, and 4x4 configurations without upgrading to UPOE switches.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points provide an improvement in network performance and reliability. Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 7 capabilities deliver a significant performance boost even without UPOE switches.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points handle high-density environments very well with Wi-Fi 6, 6E, and 7 support. This capability to handle dense environments was specifically why we selected these access points.

The ability to provide real-time location precision with ultra-wideband (UWB) is quite good. We have not had any issues with it and it works very well, at least as well as previous models and probably a little better overall.

AI-driven insights have helped with troubleshooting Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. The AI insights are very good at providing guidance, especially when troubleshooting sources of RF interference.

There is nothing to dislike about Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. The only feature request would be for Cisco to implement dual Ethernet ports on all of their models, which would be beneficial but is not considered a dislike.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points series has been in use for about a year.

I have not contacted Cisco TAC for support regarding Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. The operations team has contacted them and has always had a smooth experience with no issues regarding support.

Older series of wireless access points such as the 2800 series have been used previously, but they are not similar to Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. Aruba is also used in the environment but in different situations, making comparison difficult because they are deployed in completely different environments.

The initial deployment of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points was easy and straightforward. The products are not completely different from previous models of Cisco products, making deployment simple.

A small team was used for the deployment of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points due to deploying several hundred units. However, deployment can be accomplished by a single person depending on the project size.

It is definitely important that we have a stable connection without interruption.

The level of precision that Ultra-Wideband technology can provide with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points can be very useful in environments where accurate location and asset tracking are important, going beyond what traditional Wi-Fi-based positioning can provide. This is very valuable for use cases such as tracking equipment, improving asset visibility, and supporting location-based services. It gives us a better understanding of what is happening across the wireless network, from user and device connection to network performance and application access. This makes troubleshooting much easier because we can identify where connectivity or performance issues are occurring instead of investigating each part of the network separately. We can maintain better control and overall visibility of the environment, which is very important.

The initial configuration of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is somewhat complex, especially if someone is not familiar with the Cisco ecosystem. In addition, you have to have deeper technical knowledge and experience with some other Cisco tools. However, for now, it is straightforward for many other common tasks.

I think that cloud solutions are easier to deploy with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. However, sometimes you cannot do a cloud version of something, so for some environments you have to do it on-premise. When you have on-premise, you have direct control over the wireless environment. When you use it on cloud, you may have better support because Cisco support has an easier time maintaining it when it is a cloud solution. However, this gives you more control. For me, it is the same.

I have tried other vendors in the past, including Fortinet and Check Point, and there are plenty of other options available.

For example, other vendors can offer simpler management or more competitive pricing, but Cisco provides a mature solution for larger and more complex environments. Definitely in high-density areas, the performance is consistent, and I believe a lot of companies definitely choose Cisco over any other vendor.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points definitely help optimize the experience in a hybrid or distributed enterprise setup. The user experience is optimized because it provides consistent and reliable wireless connectivity for users accessing all applications. Centralized visibility and management also make it easier to monitor performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues. I rate this review a 10 out of 10 overall.

Wireless is primarily for connectivity. When you bundle with Cisco Spaces, that is where the story becomes interesting to customers. Most OEMs like Ruckus and Aruba offer basic connectivity where standards are increasing from Wi-Fi 5 to Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7. When you bundle with use cases based on the customer type, such as location-based analytics for retail customers or asset analytics for manufacturing customers, and combine the Wi-Fi with Cisco Spaces technology, the use cases increase significantly. For wireless alone, the use cases are limited to connectivity as a medium instead of using wired connections.

A few customers have utilized Bluetooth to track nearby assets within a certain radius. The utilization depends on how you look at the customer's needs. Bluetooth is highlighted as a feature when presented to customers, and if any customer is interested, it can be activated.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is valuable because of Cisco's Wi-Fi integration with Cisco Spaces, previously called DNA Spaces. When you bundle Cisco AP with Cisco Spaces, the complete wireless story comes into the picture. The first major advantage is the hardware, the chipset, the processor, and the IOS. There is unified licensing and unified iOS, and once you have DNA advantage, you can get a separate AVIX and the Wi-Fi 6 or 6E dashboard in DNAC. These advantages provide basic throughput support, OFDMA, multi-MIMO architecture, and the latest 4K QAM in Wi-Fi 7, previously 1024 QAM, and MLO in Wi-Fi 7. These functionalities exist for every OEM, but the Cisco advantage is the integration with Wi-Fi Spaces.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points includes one AP that can operate in dual mode. You can onboard it in Meraki or Catalyst, meaning on-premises or cloud controller. Single hardware can be dual OS, either Meraki OS or Catalyst OS.

For IoT and industrial wireless, Cisco has a different technology called CURV. The APs are different from the Catalyst 9000 series APs. There is a different set of series with different models working on fluid mesh architecture of Cisco CURV.

Remote troubleshooting is a basic functionality of any SDN controller these days. Engineers do not need to manually log in to the end device, which could be either a switch or an AP. From DNA Center itself, you can get visibility from the assurance. You can get client 360, network 360, and application 360 where the health scores of each individual client are clearly visible in DNAC Center. The assurance data provides visibility and highlights the issues that a particular user or particular network node is facing. You can access the device without any challenge. Similar to how SD-WAN came into the picture seven to eight years ago where you could remotely log in to the WAN edge devices and troubleshoot it, the same principle is being applied in DNAC Center for the campus, whether it is switching or WAN. If the RTT latency has been met from the branch to the place where DNAC Center is deployed, you can easily access those devices without needing an engineer to visit that particular location for troubleshooting.

If Cisco Spaces functionality could be combined into one single license within the wireless, it would be easier to sell Cisco Wi-Fi. Currently, customers need to purchase one more license of Cisco Spaces in order to achieve certain use cases. If Cisco Spaces functionality for asset tracking or analytics could be built into the wireless license design along with the wireless license being opted for, it would be better.

I have been using this solution for four years.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is stable. People with wireless infrastructure do not experience hardware failures. It is a very rare case which we generally see.

In terms of virtual and cloud, scalability will not come into the picture. In terms of hardware, it will have certain limits in terms of supporting the APs and clients. Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is a scalable product and is quite sufficient.

The tech support is fine.

Aruba, Ruckus, and Extreme are the main competitors. Juniper Mist has now become part of HPE. Aruba and Juniper Mist compete with Cisco for most premium customers. The rest of the market is very price sensitive in India. Customers can opt for D-Link, TP-Link, or NETGEAR if a good price is provided. Until they have connectivity, customers do not worry about the use cases or hardware. They just want to connect to an SSID and access the internet. Wireless is just a medium for them.

Cisco is always expensive. In terms of pricing, it is very tough because I have lost many RFPs because of the pricing where Ruckus is much less expensive. Fortinet wireless is also being adopted these days, and in terms of pricing, they are very less expensive. Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is a good product and falls in the premium category. Customers who opt only for Cisco will always be Cisco customers. Cisco is always expensive.

I have deployed Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points in many places as I mostly do consulting work. I have tested and even beta tested this product thoroughly, and I have deployed it in customer environments as well. Regarding integration of security features with the Cisco security stack, I have not integrated Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points with anything, but they support GCMP-256 encryption, which is crucial for Wi-Fi 7 access points.

From an end-user experience point of view, if using the right firmware versions, your experience with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is generally good, although it can vary depending on the code versions.

The importance of uninterrupted connectivity with Cisco's ultra-reliable wireless backhaul is significant, though I have not deployed it in a production environment to see the value it provides.

The pricing of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is a significant concern; Cisco is always premium priced, and sometimes customers cannot afford that.

In terms of main differences, while it is not about the AP itself, I find managing Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points a bit challenging because you need to have either a 9800 controller setup or Meraki. With Cisco 9800, there is always a learning curve for the person deploying it, while Mist is more plug-and-play with its cloud-native approach.

For the initial deployment of a new client using Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points, if the customer goes with 9800, it is not that easy. I know what it involves, but for the average user, it is tough because they have to go through many documents and troubleshooting.

Cisco's global AP, which is a unified AP, creates some challenges because it does not have any regulatory domain hardcoded, leading to situations where configuration for country codes requires additional checks and sometimes geolocation tests for satellite communication such as GPS.

I have been using Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points for approximately six or seven years in my overall career.

Regarding the overall stability of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points, I find it to be a solid product; although certain software versions have bugs, the hardware itself is reliable.

Cisco's scalability allows deployment of 2,000 to 3,000 access points per environment with one controller, though I have not seen large customers using Meraki in my experience, as most large enterprises in Australia prefer Cisco 9800 controllers.

I have contacted technical support regarding Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points in the past, but not anytime recently.

Overall, I think the quality and speed of support for Cisco is good; TAC has two flavors now, cloud-based such as Meraki TAC and traditional Cisco TAC, with Meraki generally providing better response times. I would give them an eight out of ten for support.

I have used alternatives, particularly Mist AP, specifically the AP47, but not in a large production environment.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points typically do not require any maintenance on my end; once registered, they are solid and work well unless firmware upgrades are needed.

AI-driven insights are now very important with Wi-Fi 7 because technology is getting increasingly complex, making troubleshooting harder without AI assistance.

I have seen demos of real-time location precision with the ultra-wideband, and it shows promise, but in production environments, it is limited due to a lack of endpoints supporting UWB.

My overall review rating for Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is nine out of ten.

I use Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points at the university. The entire campus has nine thousand one hundred and fifty devices distributed across different buildings and areas with varying density levels. Several buildings and rooms have more than one access point due to the high density of usage and specification of the spaces. The environment is variable depending on the day of the week and the events. For example, in the main auditorium, we have three hundred, three hundred and eight, and eight hundred and fifteen devices.

The complaints now are different; the staff, students, and investigators all needed more connectivity, and now they have the connectivity that meets their expectations. Throughout my usage, this device helps provide them what they need to accomplish their work. For example, during big events, Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points perform very well because they can be moved from one location to another.

The solution has helped improve the interaction between our network, data center, and application teams. I can say we have a very reduced team with only two people managing two thousand access points and six Catalyst nine hundred devices.

The best features are numerous. As I mentioned, we can have complete control of the environment against noise interference and other factors. You can configure them easily with the interface because the Catalyst nine hundred works with wireless control, not standalone mode.

One interesting feature is that we can control the access points with the wireless Catalyst nine hundred in an environment where we can push several VLANs to the edge. They are controlled in several cases with access points and in others with LAN control. The flex mode is particularly refreshing, which I appreciate.

Flex Mode of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is very exciting because I have different scenarios for students, professors, investigation staff, and visiting guests from abroad. If I want to add another specific network for different purposes, I can add another VLAN and configure this centrally since it is controlled by the Catalyst nine hundred. This setup is very easy. Flex Mode has the capability to establish a scenario and create new rules and new environments. I do not need to configure everything manually.

Regarding Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points' AI capabilities integrated with the wireless control, they are very strong. In our setup, we use two different scenarios. On the edge, we have the compatibility of the access points controlling different networks. The other, the major one, is controlled by the wireless LAN control. This wireless LAN control has all the environments, and access points triangulate the traffic based on what the wireless LAN control instructs. The governance is very exciting because leadership can extract and grab the data from our Catalyst Center and assess what can be improved for the next year. This aspect is beneficial because they have the data without needing to compile it with extensive spreadsheets.

My impression of the solution's ability to improve network performance and reliability is positive because they work better than the previous Catalyst model. The IR one hundred seventeen had a different approach, but the security features work better in the nine hundred. I believe this represents a significant improvement and a next level for this environment.

Currently, we are pleased with the performance of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. For now, everything is satisfactory. I would not add anything regarding needed improvements, whether they are minor or just nice to have features.

I have been using Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points for almost four years.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points are stable. Otherwise, we would change them. If you are not satisfied with a solution, you would change it because the purpose of having hardware and software is to provide the expected service for your clients, not just for you as a technician. The answer is affirmative.

The scalability of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is easy to manage. You can add more access points to the network and more switch ports to provide power to them, making it very straightforward.

My experience with customer support for Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is that my customers are typically end users rather than business customers. The users might complain if there is no signal or poor coverage. We access the locations not only through the Catalyst Center but also physically go to the site to measure and improve coverage.

I have always used Cisco products. I did not use a different solution before Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. Before these devices, I used the Cisco Wireless one hundred and seventeen and one hundred and eighteen models. It has always been Cisco.

I have seen a return on investment with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. One relevant metric is that the hardware is strong. I have only one unit that does not function properly. I upgrade the wireless LAN control two times a year and still have nothing to report from this series of Catalyst wireless nine hundred devices.

For instance, if another brand wants to test their product, the price can be lower. However, if you don't have numbers or substantial data for negotiations, the price will remain high. I am not certain about the accuracy and reliability of the output from Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points' AI capabilities, but we are currently pleased with this accuracy. We plan to compare it periodically with human checks.

I am not capable of responding to the question about integration of security features with Cisco Security Stack and its impact on reducing risk.

My advice for others evaluating Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is that they represent the lowest price option on the Cisco Catalyst Center menu. They are very stable with many features that include almost all capabilities of other product families, but with fewer capacities. For example, they can handle a reduced number of clients compared to higher models. If you have straightforward and real requirements, this is the device you should have in your network. I would rate this review as an 8 out of 10.

My use cases for Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points are as a simple access point. Most of the customers I have worked with were using them as a primary or secondary access point in their networks.

I have worked with both the lower-end and higher-end models. The lower-end models such as the 9115 or 9130 are easy to set up for small environments because I have had customers with a small number of employees, such as under 50. Those types of wireless access points are very good for those environments because you are dealing with no more than one or two floors in a building. The 9162, which I helped install for a customer last year, I really liked because it has Meraki integration. I have used other Meraki products previously, so I am familiar with the Meraki interface for their firewalls and switches. The 9162 is essentially plug and play. Once you get it on the network, it sees Meraki Cloud. In Meraki Cloud, it appears as a new device, and all you need to do is put in the license key to register it and you are done.

I have not had many issues with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points regarding deployments. The biggest issue with access points is the physical placement of them. Not every environment is the same, and when you are dealing with installations of access points, you need to find the best place to have the signal. You have to rule out environmental issues regarding the way the building is designed, walls, crawl spaces, and other factors. However, you will have that problem with any wireless access point installation. Regarding unboxing it, hooking it onto the network, and getting the firmware installed, I have not had many issues with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. I appreciate the fact that they all use power over Ethernet now. This improves the setup because you do not need an extra physical power outlet to power up the device.

I would not say it is a feature issue with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. It is a quality issue. I have had some issues with some of the lower-end devices where I needed to do RMAs. For some reason, the devices either had an issue with the power supply or they got bricked after a firmware update. The one thing I have issues with is the RMA return process. I wish they would streamline that better.

I have used Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points on and off for about three years.

I have not had any issues regarding the hardware with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. I know there were one or two times where some firmware updates were a bit buggy, and I had to open up a call with TAC support. They walked me through the process of rolling back the firmware to the previous state. I have not had any stability issues.

Regarding scalability of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points and adding additional units, I really enjoy the fact that with the 9162, all you need to do is basic plug and play because once they get on the network and talk to Meraki Cloud, it is easy to get the devices registered and within your Meraki dashboard. This is easier to manage. If you are dealing with the non-Meraki enabled ones, such as the older Catalyst models, I would need to check what the maximum amount of access points is that you can put under the Catalyst dashboard. I think that on the lower end, for the lower-end Catalyst models, they are not really designed for large campus environments. If you are dealing with more access points, from my personal experience, if you are putting in more than five access points into a particular location, then you need to step up to something more on the enterprise level. It all basically comes down to what price point you are looking for. If you are looking for a high-end price point, then the higher-end models definitely scale well in large environments. The smaller-end Catalyst models are good for small deployments and small branch offices, but they do not scale well in larger environments.

I have dealt with Cisco TAC a couple of times regarding Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points.

I have not had any problems with Cisco TAC support. My only issue has dealt with the RMA side. If a TAC engineer recommends an RMA, the process of going through the RMA has not been what I would expect it to be. The turnaround time to process the RMA has not been adequate. It used to be that if you had to do an RMA, it did not take long for them to process it. You would get confirmation, a shipping label, and you would be told exactly where to send it. They have changed the process, and I cannot remember exactly when they did this, but it seems that when you process an RMA now and get the shipping information, you can only ship items back to certain locations.

I would rate Cisco TAC about a four for the support of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points.

I would compare Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points to Aruba because I have other customers that use Aruba products. The functionality is basically the same between Cisco and Aruba. There are slight differences between the interfaces and the command line interface. My issue with Aruba is that the command line interface is not as intuitive as I would prefer.

I would choose Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points because I have had more experience dealing with Cisco in my background. Regarding quality concerns, Aruba is probably going to edge out a bit on the lower-end devices because I have had many more issues doing RMAs on the lower-end scale of Cisco wireless access points. I do not know if it is a manufacturing issue or perhaps it is because sometimes the lower-end devices I did not get directly through Cisco but through different resellers or through other channels such as Amazon.

It really depends on Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. Many of my customers are very price-conscious right now because of the current economy. They have been gravitating more toward the smaller, lower-end devices. I would say at this point, the lower-end devices are price competitive compared to some of the other competition. However, if you want all the bells and whistles and if you want full Wi-Fi 6 and mesh capability and all that type of functionality, it is still somewhat expensive. Unless you have a big enterprise operation with more than one building on your campus, it is easy to justify the two thousand to three thousand dollar price tag for those wireless access points.

If I combine both the low end and high end of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points, I would give them a seven. I cannot give them a higher rating simply because of the RMA issues I have had in the past.

My central use case for Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is for office connectivity. We primarily use it for mobile employees who travel between offices and need stable wireless connectivity. We have completed all our floor planning and generated heat maps and signal strength analysis. Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points serve on-premises users working in offices requiring decent bandwidth.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points support Wi-Fi 6E, which provides better bandwidth than its predecessor. We are able to perform optimizations to ensure there is no channel interference and the signal-to-noise ratio remains low. The technology uses OFDM, orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing, which delivers better bandwidth. We have these connected with Power over Ethernet switches for power delivery. The only operational technology or headless devices we have are primarily the cameras, CCTV cameras, door locks with RFID card readers, and various sensors. Those are associated with these access points.

From the security side, Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points are integrated with Cisco ISE, a Network Access Control solution. It supports 802.1X authentication, which is integrated with our central Active Directory. The access points support 4K streaming. We tested 4K and 8K streaming, which turned out really well because these have multiple radios and great density with less interference. This was definitely a performance enhancement. However, we do not have teams who do a lot of audiovisual work or video editing, so this capability is overkill for our daily needs. The access points serve well if you need to download huge files without interruption.

Security measures with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points help reduce network vulnerabilities in general, particularly the known ones. If there are any vulnerabilities, we receive security advisories to identify what exists. Every vendor does this, and nothing is special about it. For unknown vulnerabilities, artificial intelligence under the hood takes care of detection. The solution gives us insights into threat intelligence that it receives from Cisco's threat intelligence platform, Talos. It alerts us about potential vulnerabilities, provides severity levels, and gives us the CVE information.

There are areas that get flagged as bugs when we raise issues with technical assistance. We receive recommendations to upgrade, and since it is a zero-touch deployment, we can push updates from a centralized DNA or wireless LAN controller, and the devices update automatically. This process is straightforward. Cisco does have bugs, and sometimes we are the ones who report bugs for the first time and then receive a fix. This is part of day-to-day business operations. The best part about all of this is that Cisco is highly proactive. When we ran a drill to quantify the time it takes for resolution, especially for bug fixes, it was less than one and a half to two days, which is quite impressive, especially for bugs that were not discovered earlier and the kind of recommendations offered. Cisco's technical assistance is one of the best.

I started working with Cisco Wireless products back in 2014. Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is the newer 9100 series. As a whole, I have been working with Cisco since around 2012, so approximately 12 years. It is not every day, but on and off. I do support infrastructure that has all the wireless components in it.

I rate the stability of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points at eight out of ten.

I rate the scalability of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points as highly scalable at nine out of ten. It is highly distributed. It depends on your architecture, but it is extremely scalable. It has really good ways to curtail interference and channel noise. There are nowhere near competitors that exist.

Cisco's technical assistance is one of the best. When we ran a drill to quantify the time it takes for resolution, especially for bug fixes, it was less than one and a half to two days, which is quite impressive, especially for bugs that were not discovered earlier and the kind of recommendations offered.

Enforcement of security measures during deployment of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is plug-and-play most of the time. We do a great deal of hardening once we bring those devices in. We have a great deal of information security policies, standards, and guidelines, so we also have to ensure that we meet those benchmarks. It is fairly plug-and-play, depending on the enterprise. If you have serious security policies, then you have to harden it, and that usually takes time. A typical deployment time for me with a decent amount of security controls, if the back-end infrastructure is ready, is about two to three hours. That is fairly decent.

I cannot quantify the return on investment for Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points much because we have a mix of vendors. I cannot give Cisco the credit for some fragments of the network which are handled really well by other vendors as well. The only return on investment that I can provide is that the uptime is quite high. We have drastically improved that. That improvement takes care of most of it. Second is the maintenance windows are very low because that essentially translates to uptimes. Those are crucial. With regards to the decrease in the number of access points per headcount, I cannot quantify those because we have people who are traveling all the time, so it is very difficult to say that we had one access point in the past which catered to 20 and with Cisco, we increased it to 50.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points are expensive. They are definitely expensive. If I compare that with Aruba, it is certainly at least 1.5 times more expensive. If I compare those with something from Ubiquiti, those are definitely quite a bit expensive. There are a great deal of form factors. I was primarily talking about 9136, but there are a great deal of rugged access points which you actually use outside your premises. That is where Cisco does not have a potential competitor, because if you want rugged devices or if you want to house those in a factory setup, manufacturing with really bad environmental conditions, then that is where you do not have any other alternative than using Cisco. The price is, of course, justified. Within the offices, if I go with Ubiquiti or Aruba, those are considerably cheap compared to Cisco.

We do not use Cisco DNA software along with these. Cisco ISE caters to Cisco DNA Center. We have a couple of Cisco DNA, which is more from a centralized, software-defined access setup. We have these access points which are connected to fabric leaves, switches, or fabric access nodes. It is a VXLAN-based infrastructure where the access points are the VTEP, a VXLAN tunnel endpoint. We have this infrastructure. I do not think we use 9164, but I am not sure if we have 9164s as a part of the DNA fabric. We typically have deployed it in a great deal of our small offices or remote offices. These typically cater to around 300 to 400 users. DNA Center is primarily monitoring and doing all the assurance part of it, but the software-defined access piece, we are not doing that on Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. Those are typically integrated with a wireless LAN controller which is sitting in the data center, but it is not being enforced by the policies from DNA.

Cisco DNA helps with remote troubleshooting in our network absolutely. It has the assurance module, so it does tracking. It does a great deal of other things. If there are any challenges, it gives troubleshooting steps. It gives the list of all possible problems that may be causing the incident. It is really user-friendly. The level one operations can be totally eliminated, and then you can typically have your experts deal with the telemetry that DNA provides. It is definitely really awesome.

In terms of analytics and artificial intelligence analytics in Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points, that is done under the hood. We do not have our own models which we train or things. It comes in along with the solution, so it is under the hood. It gives us a great deal of anomaly-based detections, which is crucial, especially for suspicious traffic which is not a known malware. Then it helps with recommendations based upon the incidents. That is definitely the scope for artificial intelligence, which is called AI-enabled, but that is under the hood, so those things are not exposed to us. We do have a couple of other things which we are doing ourselves, meaning we are taking all the telemetry that we are getting, putting it into Splunk, and then we feed it into some training models which we own or are private to us. That is primarily for our internal analysis. That is not related to Cisco or any vendor. That is our internal project.

We are not using Bluetooth Low Energy with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. There are privacy constraints around those, especially in the European Union. Employees do not sign confidentiality clauses which have these kinds of things.

I cannot quantify the extent to which I see the reduction of network vulnerabilities out of the box with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points. We do send it to third-party tools in order to normalize the risk ratings for whatever we get. Based upon that, we verify the ratings. The problem is every single point solution has its own version of a risk rating. Based upon the vulnerability that has been or may not be exploited somewhere out in the world, it gives a certain risk rating, but whether that actually leads to a real risk is different. Ten different tools are going to give you ten different risk ratings and then they may not actually be your real business risk. A low risk that it flags may end up being a very high risk, and vice versa. We do send it to a centralized tool from RiskSense and we check whether we normalize those ratings and then we decide whether it is a high enough rating to actually lead to a business risk. It is not very specific to Cisco or a product. It has to be done seamlessly throughout the entire footprint.

Cisco is technically superior to competitors. There is no question about it. They are very proactive. They are highly responsive, and they are available. It also depends upon the relationship. We have a platinum contract with them, so they are available. I rate this review as eight out of ten.

We access the data center and applications from wireless, using enterprise applications like SAP, which exist in the data center through wireless. We chose Cisco because it is more reliable and has good bandwidth, providing the reliability needed for applications and the necessary bandwidth.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points have improved our network performance and reliability based on stability. We depend on wireless rather than a wired network, making it very important to have a stable solution to ensure smooth handoffs between access points, especially since we move around the office. Having a stable and reliable wireless connection with higher bandwidth has also improved productivity inside the office.

From a user perspective, I find Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points very good. The handoff is good, and I do not see anything needing improvement. The shape of the access points is also very good, and they look professional with no comments from users about any issues.

To make it a ten out of ten, the addition of more AI capabilities could be an improvement.

It does not take much time, as all access points and nodes are controlled from a wireless controller, allowing centralized deployment and configuration from one location. Mounting the access points and adjusting the configuration does not take much time, making installation easy. Many companies have the knowledge to assist with Cisco installations, so it is a popular product.

Mounting and configuration take around one week to complete the installation for our entire office.

I estimate that moving to wireless with Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points has saved us around thirty or forty percent in resources.

Regarding pricing, Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points are not cheap, but I find them not very expensive. They fall into the normal range for enterprise wireless solutions. Even compared to competitors, the pricing is similar, and there is value in paying for these access points.

When comparing Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points to other solutions or vendors, I believe Cisco is one of the best. There is not much competition in the wireless segment, as Cisco continues to release more access points supporting Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E, and Wi-Fi 7, establishing itself as a leader in performance, quality, and support.

We have around one thousand users utilizing Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points in our office.

I rate the technical support from Cisco a 10. I have been using your support, and I have been working with you for more than 12 or 13 years, and I have never experienced any unresolved issues. Even if there is a gap, if it is escalated, it is properly resolved.

To be honest, I have never calculated the return on investment for Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points because I am approaching it from the engineering perspective. In terms of finance or any business value it brought to us, from my standpoint, it is simply about having reachability to my environment. However, I have to think about that part. Till today, I have never thought about it.

My thoughts on the pricing of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points indicate that it is a bit expensive. With Cisco, I know that there is a saying that if you are paying to Cisco, you are not paying only for the product, but you are paying for the service as well as documentation and everything. That is why, at first glance, it can seem a bit expensive when compared with other vendors. But again, we are paying for service, documentation, and forums. Cisco is doing great at that point.

I have Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points deployed on-premises only.

Around 500 to 700 users utilize Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points.

Implementation of Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points is easier. As I mentioned, the only complication is on the wireless LAN controller side to integrate with third parties. But overall, we can consider it medium.

From the configuration point of view, deploying Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points took just one or two days. We tested with one device, and apart from that, it is easy to onboard any AP. It is merely a matter of connecting your device and onboarding it to the WLC.

Cisco Wireless 9100 Access Points align perfectly with our zero trust strategy. Today, we can easily implement and have already implemented the 802.1X solution, along with granting access to the environment based on certificate-based authentication, integrating again with third parties.
