What is our primary use case?
I use
HPE StoreEasy to provide file sharing to our business users. We are a logistics business, specifically a port.
What is most valuable?
The management tools to organize file shares are valuable, along with features like replication to the cloud. I also find the configuration for internal replication using Distributed File System Replication (DFSR) to be central.
What needs improvement?
The product is stable, running on
Windows Server with updates from HPE, including those for iLO. There could be improvements in providing more hardening options on the operating system side, similar to iLO's security scoreboard.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have used
HPE StoreEasy for more than five years.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
The deployment was part of a project where we needed to understand the data on the old file server and what was necessary to migrate. The project involved organizing file access rights and point-in-time recovery options with a third-party vendor.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
HPE StoreEasy is a stable solution, running efficiently without issues. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate stability as nine to ten.
How are customer service and support?
HPE provides good support for their products. I would rate their technical support as nine out of ten.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Prior to HPE StoreEasy, we used a normal server with file services enabled, which was another HPE product.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was easy. However, we subcontracted services to manage the project and ensure it followed best practices during implementation.
What about the implementation team?
The project was managed with a local vendor that is a partner of HPE, involving several people to ensure a smooth deployment.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
HPE StoreEasy is competitively priced compared to competitors. It offers configuration options, such as different processor powers, to adapt to the client's needs.
What other advice do I have?
HPE StoreEasy is a stable and high-performing solution that HPE supports effectively. A key feature is that it is customizable to adjust to our necessities. I would rate the solution as nine out of ten. Consider adding more security features similar to iLO's security recommendations to improve resilience against ransomware.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
