It's constantly enhanced and has impressive reliability and data compression
The maintenance is a bit expensive. The service and support are there for three years, but after the third year, it is pretty pricey for renewal. I hope Dell addresses that. Everything is pricey these days anyway. It is not like the old days of Compellent. We used to be able to see the metrics for our customers. On Compellent, we could look up that customer and see all the metrics. That is not allowed for us now. We cannot do that anymore. I have to be explicitly allowed by the customer to do that, and some companies' security does not allow that.

Reliable, cost-effective, and easy to deploy and manage
I did not have any difficulties in deploying StoreEasy for the customers. It is user-friendly and easy to deploy. It has a Windows Server and a required license built in. For implementation, we follow the HPE documentation. We follow the Configuration guide and the Installation guide. For all HPE products, we follow the HPE documentation. For a single box, it takes a maximum of two days. It depends on the customer's availability. For different configurations, it can take two to three days. The number of people required varies from customer to customer, but generally, it requires three people. For mounting the storage, we always have three people to unbox, mount, and do other things. It does not require any maintenance. From the data center perspective, maintaining StoreEasy is very easy. No customer has complained about any difficulty in maintaining StoreEasy.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Reliable, with comprehensive features and a well-established support base."
"The stability has been excellent."
"The solution is easy to use and has good performance."
"Updates come with enhancements. Each time we do an update, there is an enhancement, like new features, which is extraordinary. Other companies would try to charge for all that, but the enhancements just come with it."
"The most valuable feature is the three-to-one data reduction."
"The product's initial deployment phase has been straightforward."
"The deduplication functionality provided by the solution is fairly good. The speed offered by the product is enough for our organization."
"This solution is highly flexible and offers efficient online compression capabilities."
"The most valuable feature of HPE StoreEasy is the storing of virtual machines."
"HPE StoreEasy is a stable and high-performing solution that HPE supports effectively."
"The most beneficial feature of HPE StoreEasy for us is its easy implementation and maintenance."
"It is easy to manage. There is a management console that comes with StoreEasy. It simplifies managing storage permission. There is snapshot scheduling as well. The updates and everything else is good."
"I can use both the on-premises and cloud storage options. I need to have an APR extension from StoreEasy, and it's that simple."
"I like the tool's provisioning feature and OneView."
"This solution allows me to better and more easily manage user data without impacting my primary storage."
"StoreEasy offers reliable file services, which is a critical factor for customers looking for solid infrastructure."

Cons

"The solution's pricing could be better."
"Could be improved by including a synchronizing feature for the file systems."
"We are happy with the service in general. The only thing would be the price of the platform."
"Could use some additional automation."
"I do not like having to use VPLEX for synchronous replication, as opposed to having the store software built-in."
"The replication part needs improvement, particularly the integration of RecoverPoint."
"The only area I can highlight for improvement is that the 4:1 data reduction target has not been reached. This may be due to an issue with Dell EMC's initial analysis of data compression. As a result, we have had to add new physical disks to reach our goal of total available disk space."
"The pricing could be lower. It is very expensive."
"There could be improvements in providing more hardening options on the operating system side, similar to iLO's security scoreboard."
"I would like to improve the tool's technical support. I would also like to see the product's hybrid cloud version."
"The support of HPE StoreEasy can improve its responsiveness. Dell support is better."
"The cluster service is not available in the latest version of HPE StoreEasy."
"There is a default Windows installation. Sometimes, when it crashes, the HPE support team asks the customer to reinstall it. That is the only issue customers are facing."
"It would be better if it were more scalable. In the next release, I would like to access some Microsoft Windows storage server features. I guess the newest version of Windows Server has some restrictions."
"There are some SKUs in StoreEasy that are built to order, and there are only limited options, such as StoreEasy 1670 and 1870, which can be configured to order based on customer preferences."
"The areas of HPE StoreEasy that need improvement are scalability and migration."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of Dell EMC PowerStore could be better, it is a bit expensive."
"It is very expensive though when you get to this point of using the 3000 with a client. They will start to think about using another vendor. There are a lot of solutions similar to PowerStore in regards to networking capacity and their prices are very cheap compared to PowerStore."
"Dell PowerStore is affordable and the license is just a face license which is great."
"Dealing with the licensing part of the product is very simple, especially considering the fact that we don't have many licenses associated with the tool."
"The solution is expensive."
"We are currently using Dell PowerStore for our smaller storage and there is no competition for pricing."
"Pricing depends on the model and negotiation. Sometimes we manage to get good discounts, sometimes not."
"In the pricing and licensing department, the product is always too expensive."
"This is an economical solution for the company and I am satisfied with the pricing."
"Based on what I hear from our customers, it is not very expensive. From the cost perspective, I see nobody complaining about its cost."
"I would rate the tool's pricing an eight out of ten. You need to pay additional costs for the solution."
"The price of HPE StoreEasy is approximately $15,000 to $20,000 and it is a one-time purchase. The price is similar to competitors, such as Dell."
