I am not familiar with the tool's commercial aspect, so I cannot say anything about its pricing. The procurement department has compared the solution with Cisco ISE, and they have said that there is a huge difference between the prices of Cisco ISE and Fortinet FortiNAC. Fortinet FortiNAC is more affordable than Cisco ISE. Fortinet FortiNAC's price is less than half of the price compared to Cisco ISE's price. If one is bad and ten is good, I rate the product price as a seven out of ten.

We have limited the licenses to only specific users and specific roles. We are using around 250, but we have a license for up to a thousand, and I am hoping to be able to expand that at some point. When you buy the initial product, you pay for a license per device. They are perpetual licenses, so once you purchase them, you are good. Support after that is optional. When we got support, we got it for the appliance. There are hardware appliances, but we just went with a virtual appliance. A thousand licenses for up to a thousand users and three years of support, all came out to around $22,000.

It's a pricey solution. I don't know if it's maybe because the local partner overcharges me, but when I was researching other solutions, Cisco ISE is cheaper. My current license is about $60,000 to $70,000 thousand, while the equivalent through Cisco would be around $15,000.

There is a base license level which pretty much gives you topologies and groupings automation/control, etc. When it comes to policies, it's only going to give you user host profiling and network access. If you're looking for endpoint compliance, integrations, Incidence response and reporting, then you have to go for an Plus or PRO license.

We're a Fortinet partner. I would recommend the product to others. Usability is a crucial thing for networking and this product offers that. I'm not familiar with other NAC products. However, I think every organization should be implementing NAC. That does not always mean just FortiNAC products. There are other NAC products as well. We are very fortunate to have access to such products that continue to help our customers. Overall, I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.
