What is our primary use case?
All of our major applications are on-premise, so I think 90% of my software used by the employees is on-premise. We have the telephony, we have the ERP, we have some mobile apps. We run a mobile app. All of them are on-premise, and that's what we use on Windows.
What is most valuable?
One thing I appreciate most about Windows Server AppFabric is because it's widely used; it's easier to get solutions online from other communities when I am stuck. Because it is widely used, it's easier to get solutions and also easier to work with. Especially after I found 2019, I have worked with 2019 and I appreciate it. It's easier to get solutions.
After implementing Windows Server AppFabric, I can say I love the speed. The functionality and speed are good. Earlier, when they added more people, I could see some lagging. But now, I have no issue even if I double the users, even if I add 30% of users or any applications, it will still be fast. It increased the speed and also security. I've noticed the new one I have is good and secure. I love the security.
The monitoring capabilities of Windows Server AppFabric help me improve service visibility and troubleshooting. In a day, I have to go through a lot of the logs and also the utilization. There, I see the CPU. I have to do the utilization, and I can see what is utilizing the most. By doing this, I can be able to tell what, in case I need to do an upgrade, what I might need to provide the upgrade or maybe increase in users that will not affect the operations.
What needs improvement?
I do not utilize Windows Server AppFabric's workflow management for now because that's a project that we might be looking at in the coming year, in the first or second quarter.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have a combined experience of seven and a half years in IT.
How are customer service and support?
I can give Microsoft support a good rating; it's a four out of five. I can give Microsoft support a nine on a scale from 1 to 10.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I'm not using Red Hat solutions. I've used it in the past, but currently I'm not using it.
How was the initial setup?
For the first deployment of Windows Server AppFabric, right now I'm good. Previously, I had some issues, but I did not find it difficult. There were some issues, but the implementation was successful.
What about the implementation team?
Where I sit, we needed three people for the deployment of Windows Server AppFabric. We had people on our side on call if support was required; we could have called them. After we implemented the first server, it then became easy to implement the others. The first one was the main challenge, but I think we used that as a learning curve. So when deploying the others, the task kept becoming easier and easier, and we could understand. In case there was a mistake, we could understand where the mistake is, and we could solve it.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I am overall satisfied with the licensing cost of Windows Server AppFabric. It's a reasonable price because I run multiple servers, so we bought the bulk one. I can say the price was fair.
What other advice do I have?
The deployment of Windows Server AppFabric is tricky because I sit somewhere where I oversee all the servers of four different branches in different countries. So the upgrade was not done all at once; we did the upgrade partially. We handle one country. Once it's successful, we move to the next.
I can assess the integration of Windows Server AppFabric with Windows Communication Foundation as good. I have not had any issues with it. I was doing some integrations and I'm in the middle of doing some other upgrades. We were putting different countries to upgrade. Once we did the first one, we used that as a learning curve. The second, the third one, and then by the time we were getting to the third one, we were well-versed with it. I would rate this review a nine out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
