Trend Micro Smart Protection [EOL] Reviews

We are using Deep Discovery Inspector in our banking environment, DDI. Many banking clients are using DDI, so it is well-known in my region.

I have been dealing with Deep Discovery that inspects incoming and outgoing traffic, and it is used for packet filtering.

The most valuable features and functionalities in Deep Discovery are that it is used for monitoring malicious traffic, and it operates down to the firewall and inspects any malicious traffic.

I have used Deep Discovery's sandbox analysis feature. The sandboxing feature helps our threat detection efforts as it internally inspects the malicious data and holds it in the sandbox, and after the analysis, the file is quarantined.

I evaluate Deep Discovery's real-time visibility on network traffic as a better solution for inspecting traffic.

In incident response, Deep Discovery captures zero-day threats easily and provides the best visibility on the console.

I assess the effectiveness of Trend Micro's real-time analysis in my defense strategy as good, as it does not disturb any work and operates very smoothly in the background without any utilization.

Trend Micro Smart Protection has been discontinued because it uses Linux CentOS OS, so currently we are using the service gateway for this solution. I believe they should improve Trend Micro Smart Protection accordingly.

I would rate their technical support a nine out of ten as it helps with every query.

The initial setup of Deep Discovery is straightforward, and I am not facing any difficulties.

Trend Micro Smart Protection provides the facility for web file reputation and web reputation. Trend Micro's endpoint protection has helped my organization as it has different modules, and through these modules, it provides protection to endpoint devices, including behavior monitoring, application control, predictive machine learning, and anti-malware, which provides better protection.

Consistent threat intelligence across environments is important as it allows us to secure our organization. Trend Micro is working on additional features and is adding new features to the Vision One console while also replacing to Trend AI, which is more helpful to secure the organization and clients. I give this review an overall rating of eight out of ten.

Our primary use case for Trend Micro Smart Protection is endpoint protection.

The most effective features of Trend Micro Smart Protection are its antivirus and malware capabilities. 

Additionally, it integrates well with all our tools, including ServiceNow, for fault reporting. This integration enhances our security posture significantly.

The dashboard could be easier to manage. We've experienced compatibility issues with Windows endpoint protection. More support for malware and botnets would be beneficial.

My company, Control, is three years old, and in the two years I've been there, we have used Trend Micro Smart Protection.

For stability, I would rate Trend Micro Smart Protection a seven out of ten.

For scalability, I would rate it an eight out of ten.

There are no issues with customer service. Whenever we have needed any information, they have been more than willing to help.

I've never set it up myself, as I'm an architect and don't do hands-on work.

Our customers have seen a return on investment as they have not been breached and can prevent malware, keeping endpoints and applications up to date.

I'm not involved in licensing, so I have no idea of the cost. However, their pricing is comparable to CrowdStrike. None of these solutions are cheap.

For Trend Micro Smart Protection, I would say it's effective in helping to identify and address new threats. 

Overall, I rate the solution eight out of ten.

The main use case for Trend Micro Smart Protection is Endpoint Protection, antimalware, EDR, and so on.

The advantages of Trend Micro Smart Protection include its best feature, which is virtual patching.

Real-time analysis in Trend Micro Smart Protection is good, as normal as one would expect. The products are very good, the agent is very light, and it doesn't cause any issues on the machine, but their support is not good; Trend Micro support needs more enhancement.

Trend Micro Smart Protection does have an impact on threat management; it's a preventative solution that prevents threats. However, it's not about threat management. If you use the EDR feature, it will have a nice impact on threat prevention and protection, but not threat management.

The positive impact of the Trend Micro Smart Protection solution includes the machine learning part, the virtual patching part, and the analytics.

Technical support needs to be improved. We had a customer move from Trend Micro because they didn't the support.

Both response time and ownership are the problems with support.

Trend Micro Smart Protection is doing fine with features. They need to add more integration with other vendors outside their Trend Micro ecosystem; some of their products only work with or accept integrations with only Trend Micro products. I would recommend increasing the integration ecosystem with other vendors.

I've been working with Trend Micro Smart Protection for about one year.

Regarding Trend Micro, I work with some solutions such as Deep Discovery, Mobile Security, and Smart Protection, and I have moderate knowledge of Trend Micro products.

I do work with the Endpoint Protection solution from Trend Micro, which is called Smart Protection.

Any product has some issues, but I'm not very familiar with the operational issues. I'm not aware of any performance or latency issues.

I haven't heard any big concern about Trend Micro, but since I hear concerns about the support, that means there are issues. Otherwise, they wouldn't need support. I'm not the best one to answer this question.

The scalability of Trend Micro Smart Protection has no limitations; it scales nicely. It's just an endpoint, so that's fine. You just add licenses; there's nothing to scale.

Trend Micro products are very good, the agent is very light, and it doesn't cause any issues on the machine, but their support is not good; Trend Micro support needs enhancement.

If I compare Trend Micro Smart Protection with other competitors such as Trellix, Palo Alto, or Kaspersky, I see it's a little bit cheaper than Palo Alto, and they have virtual patching. I don't think Palo Alto has virtual patching; I think they are the only vendor who has virtual patching. That's it; there is no major benefit over other products.

Trend Micro is easy to install. Trend Micro solutions are not complex.

I am also reselling it; I'm a reseller.

Any cybersecurity solution has a good ROI for any company, bank, or customer. Especially for important customers who care about their reputation and brand protection, the ROI should be nice. It has a nice impact on ROI; any good cybersecurity product should have.

I find that Trend Micro Smart Protection is affordable; I don't think it can be quite expensive.

I've been working with Trend Micro Smart Protection for about one year. The main use case for Trend Micro Smart Protection is Endpoint Protection, antimalware, EDR, and so on.

I work with Trellix MOVE Antivirus, along with Trellix HX, EDR, and Endpoint Protection. I work with the EDR solution from Trellix on-prem; I don't have it on the cloud.

I have close experience with Trend Micro and Palo Alto, just keep in mind that my experience is as a solution architect, and I don't configure these products myself. I know some features, but I don't have operational experience.

As for Kaspersky, I don't work with it too much. We just signed with Kaspersky, so I'm not very familiar with its products yet.

In general, the main concern is mainly support; there are no other problems with the product.

On a scale of 1-10, I rate Trend Micro Smart Protection a seven.

I like Trend Micro Smart Protection because it offers strong, all-around cybersecurity. It is better than many others out there. Plus, it helps with vulnerability and patch management, making it easier to provide top-notch services to our customers.

The product is solid overall, but it could be faster in responding to new threats like ransomware. Improved communication and guidance across different sectors would also help.

I have been using Trend Micro Smart Protection for several years.

The stability of Trend Micro Smart Protection varies greatly depending on the specific customer and their unique circumstances. It depends on factors like the customer's environment, pain points, deployment issues, and timing. Each customer's experience differs, making it difficult to provide a general evaluation. It's best to assess based on their individual needs and circumstances.

Trend Micro Smart Protection is scalable. When deploying it, the value of the solution increases as it can cover more users and their various devices, such as mobiles, laptops, and desktops. Scalability depends on the number of users and the types of devices used, making it adaptable to different situations. We have approximately 100,000 end users of the solution.

The technical support is good. They are responsive and their support is similar to other providers. When there is a more complex issue, they handle it well by escalating it to higher support levels, which is a standard procedure. Overall, they effectively address issues. I would rate the support as an eight out of ten.

In the past, I have worked with other vendors before Trend Micro. For example, I used to work with McAfee or Symantec, but I eventually transitioned my services to CrowdStrike or Sophos. I chose Trend Micro over McAfee because I had concerns about McAfee's strategy and direction, especially after its connection with Palantir and being part of Fortpoint. I had a similar experience with Broadcom, where they focused only on the top 500 US customers, leaving the rest, like those in Spain, without proper support. This made me look for a better solution.

Installing Trend Micro Smart Protection is typically easy, but it can be tricky if you have another antivirus that must be removed first. A cloud solution is a better option as it simplifies the process by only requiring an endpoint connection to the console, ensuring safety and ease of deployment. Deploying Trend Micro Smart Protection usually takes just a few minutes. It involves preparing an SQL table, checking the environment for optimal performance, and ensuring no conflicting antivirus solutions exist. Once that is done, deploying it is as simple as running a script. We have a team of eight engineers who maintain the solution.

In terms of pricing, it is noticeably more expensive than quotes from other vendors.

It is beneficial to have a global console that integrates various solutions in one place, but there have been past decisions where full integration was lacking, which can be a drawback. It is good from the customer's perspective to have multiple solutions integrated under one provider, but incomplete integrations are a downside. Overall, I would rate Trend Micro Smart Protection as a six out of ten.

I use the solution in my company since it is a next-generation cloud that is useful for security infrastructure. It is used to protect our company's customers from security risks and certain websites.

The tool offers centralized security management. The tool's deployment is flexible. You can say that the tool offers a connected layer of security for complete protection. With a minimum impact, one can get maximum protection with Trend Micro Smart Protection.

The improvements required in the product depend on how it is used, meaning it can be used for endpoint security or email and collaboration security. The web gateway is used along with anti-malware, advanced protection, URL filtering, application control, and data protection. I don't have any improvements to suggest in the tool as of now, and not at least for now, as per my security assessment.

There are certain concerns with the product's stability, so it is an area where improvements are required.

I have been using Trend Micro Smart Protection for more than five years.

Stability-wise, I rate the solution a seven to eight out of ten.

It is definitely a scalable solution.

Around 2,00,000 people in my company use the product.

The product's initial setup phase is clear enough, and it is possible to have maximum impact with low issues.

The deployment and maintenance are areas which are pretty much automated, and in my company we have certain automation processes in place with which we don't have any issues.

Any organization would go with a three-year or five-year license requirement, especially if they want to continue with the solution. Instead of going for monthly or yearly licensing models, it is better to go ahead with three-year or five-year licensing models as it can be cheaper.

Compared to Trend Micro Smart Protection, my company evaluated a solution named FireEye. FireEye offers solutions for data center servers, network devices, and email security. I do have experience with FireEye.

The multi-layered defense mechanism improves our company's security posture, but our company cannot depend on only one security tool. In our company, we should have a multi-layer defense mechanism to implement and achieve a zero-trust strategy in our environment.

Considering the current market risks and new threats coming in, our company has to evolve while evaluating the solution more frequently.

I recommend the product to those who plan to use it.

The tool is very beneficial in protecting our environment and securing the posture of our company's ecosystem.

I rate the overall tool a nine out of ten.

This solution provides us with endpoint security which is essential for protecting endpoints. Vulnerability management through this application offers versatile usage in addressing multiple vulnerabilities.

Trend Micro Smart Protection has been incredibly helpful in enhancing security. While no product can offer 100% protection, it's effective in mitigating risks. Regarding incident response, it includes MDXDR, providing managed protection and response, along with XDR for threat detection and response. This proactive approach helps detect malicious activity within networks.

Trend Micro Smart Protection includes compliance features where you can establish rules against endpoint vulnerabilities and attack parameters. It offers Smart Detection, Smart Update, and sandboxing to detect and analyze suspicious files, providing a smart approach to zero-day threat detection.

Trend Micro Smart Protection offers rapid response to zero-day threats with a strong team backing up the discovery process. Virtual patching is a crucial feature, effectively closing vulnerable ports and access points. Regarding web reputation services, aggregating data from multiple sources, including Trend Micro, Proofpoint, and others, helps inform threat prevention efforts and automate responses.

Trend Micro Smart Protection needs to improve its compliance features to cover more domains, such as BCIDSS rules. Enhancements in this area would enable quicker and more comprehensive compliance reporting.

I have been working with Trend Micro Smart Protection since 2008.

For overall stability, I would rate it an eight out of 10.

In terms of scalability, I would give it a seven, as careful planning is required when expanding beyond a certain number of assets.

Regarding support, while premium support is responsive and helpful, standard support is lacking, with longer response and resolution times.

Deploying Trend Micro Smart Protection is straightforward, but challenges arise when transitioning assets from on-premises to the cloud. Since the service relies on the cloud, specific ports and configurations need to be adjusted. It's common practice to use a proxy to secure servers, although this process isn't yet optimized. Many enterprise clients prefer not to expose their network directly to the internet for security reasons.

My team is responsible for maintaining and upgrading Trend Micro Smart Protection service. While our endpoint protection is on-premises, the server remains cloud-based due to the complexity of configuration and deployment.

In terms of licensing cost, it falls within the average range compared to competitors, almost 7 out of 10. 

On a scale from one to ten, I would rate the efficiency of Trend Micro Smart Protection's resource utilization as an eight. The product, overall, would have a rating 8 out of 10. 

Trend Micro Smart Protection is used for malware analysis. Trend Micro Smart Protection is integrated with the XDR Vision One.

Trend Micro Smart Protection has good features like malware analysis, C-to-C connection and detection, workbench, auto security play with features, and lots of DDI features.

We can create security playbooks from our detected workbench for future detection in XDR Vision One. Suppose an error happened in the past, and we created a security playbook for this event. The next time this event happens again, the security playbook can detect the error and notify the incident responder.

The solution's device control options are not too beneficial. If I block USB detection, all USBs, including the non-storage devices or any other devices, are blocked. These are the issues with Trend Micro Smart Protection.

I have been using Trend Micro Smart Protection for eight to nine months.

Trend Micro Smart Protection is a stable solution.

Trend Micro Smart Protection is a scalable solution. More than 500 users are using the solution in our organization.

Trend Micro Smart Protection's initial setup is easy. The agent is pushed by any PDQ software at the client end, and just one click is required for installation. All endpoints are connected with Apex One Central, and Apex One Central is connected with XDR Vision One and Trend Micro Smart Protection.

If I have 600 endpoints, I can push 600 agents by PDQ in one go within two to three days. XDR Vision One and Trend Micro Smart Protection require two to three hours because it's a cloud-based solution. If we seek the help of Trend Micro Guide, we can deploy XDR Vision One or activate the Vision One license on the cloud. This is not a long procedure, and installing XDR Vision One and Trend Micro Smart Protection takes approximately two to three hours.

Overall, I rate Trend Micro Smart Protection a six out of ten.

The solution is used to give technical information to the customer. 

Trend Micro is easy to use and it has good security features. 

The pricing of the solution can be improved.

Trend Micro Smart Protection is used for security.

Trend Micro Smart Protection has helped our organization by keeping it safer from ongoing threats.

The most valuable features of Trend Micro Smart Protection are the email gateway and R & D which have contributed to their additional capability and development.

Trend Micro Smart Protection could improve the false positive with some integrations with other solutions and automated reporting. The reports should allow the user to set up some customer trigger alerts instead of the user having to look at the report manually. Additionally, the responses from sender detection and response feature could improve. 

I have been using Trend Micro Smart Protection for approximately seven years.

Trend Micro Smart Protection is stable and reliable.

Trend Micro Smart Protection is scalable.

We have approximately 15,000 endpoints using Trend Micro Smart Protection.

We have not used the support from Trend Micro Smart Protection.

We previously were using Microsoft. We switched to Trend Micro Smart Protection because we needed a more easily adaptable system to the rapidly changing threat landscape.

The initial setup of Trend Micro Smart Protection was straightforward. The full implementation took us approximately two months.

We have a different strategy for us to build in-house capability to not only use Trend Micro Smart Protection but support it at the first level and we go as far as the second level. This is our methodology.

We did the implementation of Trend Micro Smart Protection in-house with a team of five people. 

We have seen a return on investment using Trend Micro Smart Protection.

Whether something is affordable or pricy, is relative. It depends on the value an institution has attached to a capability. For us, security is a premium requirement, I can't say a solution is pricey if we are able to afford it and run it for seven years, I would say it's affordable.

We go through a partner to purchase Trend Micro Smart Protection and there is a partner fee. However, it does not impact the price because we get a bundled offer price.

We evaluated approximately four other options before choosing Trend Micro Smart Protection. The organization I worked for has a very competitive procurement process. Once our extensive evaluation was done, we looked at all the positives and negatives of each competing solution, Trend Micro Smart Protection came out best suited for our needs. 

The goal was to get a system that was fully automated, reduce the false positives, and could be easily adapted for the changes in attacks.

I would recommend Trend Micro Smart Protection to others. The adaptability of this solution is very good in a short time.

When one of our organization's clients opts for the whole suite of Trend Micro products, including DDS, Deep Security, and EDR, then Trend Micro Smart Protection also serves as a fruitful and usable for them when troubleshooting or tech assistance is required.

We recommend and promote Trend Micro Smart Protection to our company clients because, with this solution, they can have immediate tech support instead of waiting a day or two to solve any issues. 

The products of Trend Micro Smart Protection Suite are designed in a way such that most clients will need to utilize all of them at some point. The major goal of Trend Micro Smart Protection is to protect the client's environment with endpoint security. 

The dashboard or console of Trend Micro Smart Protection should be easier to comprehend. If the product console is made more intuitive, users will not have to undergo training before using Trend Micro Smart Protection.  

I have been working with Trend Micro Smart Protection for three to four years. 

I would rate the stability a nine out of ten. 

I would rate the scalability an eight out of ten. I would recommend the solution mostly to enterprise-grade companies, as small and medium organizations may hesitate with the affordability. 

Trend Micro Smart Protection has two different kinds of support. One is cost-free, but it requires a user to go through different levels and wait in a queue to avail of support, which is time-consuming. The other kind of support is purchased, and tech support can be availed immediately from the Trend Micro support team. 

The initial setup can seem simple for a support engineer or tech professional with experience with similar solutions from different vendors, but not for others. If the deployer receives training regarding Trend Micro Smart Protection, it would be helpful for them. 

Trend Micro Smart Protection is more costly than competitor solutions, including Kaspersky, Symantec, Bitdefender, and McAfee. I would rate the pricing an eight out of ten. 

I believe Trend Micro Smart Protection is much more robust than Kaspersky EDR. At our company, we work with both Trend Micro Smart Protection and Kaspersky EDR; we have witnessed them integrate and operate in varying environments, and the results claim that Trend Micro Smart Protection is a better solution. 

Threat protection is a valuable feature of the product. One vital aspect of Trend Micro Smart Protection is the release of frequent updates so that any DDoS attacks can be blocked. 

In our company, we have found the integration capabilities of the product to be flawless, as it integrates easily with almost every third-party product. Our organization mostly deals with the on-prem version of the product, but I believe the vendor offers a hybrid version as well, which can be used both in the cloud and on-prem. 

I would rate Trend Micro Smart Protection as nine out of ten overall. I would definitely recommend Trend Micro Smart Protection to others.
