What is our primary use case?
Inflectra SpiraPlan has been instrumental in transforming how we manage our software quality assurance and our agile project delivery. Mostly we use it for requirements management, test cases, tracking, defect logging, and task condition. As a unified platform, it makes it easier to maintain visibility and control across the entire life cycle.
A specific example of how I use Inflectra SpiraPlan for requirements management is with NNPC Limited, a leading Nigerian energy corporation, to revolutionize their software quality assurance processes. Faced with fragment workflows, delays, timelines, and limited visibility, NNPC needed a tailored automation solution, and we delivered by leveraging SpiraPlan's integrated capabilities. We streamlined their QA operations and improved traceability and accelerated delivery timelines. The result was a more agile, transparent, and efficient SQA environment that aligned with their enterprise goals.
For my workflow, Inflectra SpiraPlan has been great, especially when it comes to project management and particularly from the start of a project from the planning and releases. It makes teamwork easier. When it comes to test case management and reporting, it is one of the best tools that is out there that I have ever used.
What is most valuable?
The best features Inflectra SpiraPlan offers would be the InflectraAI because when I put in my requirements while onboarding products for a company and I'm putting in my requirements and want to create test cases, it makes it very easy for me. The moment I put in the requirements and ask it to create test cases for me, it suggests over 10 test cases, which most times align with the requirements that I have, and then I can go ahead to edit that to what I want. Sometimes because it actually suggests tailored test cases, I just leave them as they are. It goes ahead to also suggest test steps. It really makes the creation of test cases very easy for me. A test case that I would take days to write, I can now write in minutes and that really makes it seamless for me.
Inflectra SpiraPlan has impacted my organization positively in cases where, before now, I would have to remind every other person to submit their task, or when we're running late. With SpiraPlan, they all get the notifications and everyone sees their task and quickly jumps on it. Everybody gets to complete their task, or for the ones that they need to reassign, they go to the dashboard and just reassign it, and then the next person sees what they're supposed to do. Inflectra SpiraPlan has really improved my organization's workflow and has been a reliable solution to my organization seeking structured, scalable, and traceability project management, especially in industries where compliance and quality assurance is critical.
What needs improvement?
As for improvements needed for Inflectra SpiraPlan, I don't know if there are much more to improve, but in the case of creating users when you want to create roles, there's a checkbox that gives access to the users. There should be one checkbox that can click everything at a time and then you can just uncheck the few ones that you don't need. Most times you want to check almost all the boxes and just leave a few, but then you have to check a lot of boxes one after the other. For someone who tries to work really smart, that impacts our time, so a single checkbox to select all would be great.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Inflectra SpiraPlan for over a year and six months, and so far, it has been great.

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was smooth and easy. I had the trial version initially, then reached out to subscribe based on the number of concurrent users, which makes it very easy to purchase.
What other advice do I have?
The accuracy of the suggested test cases and steps for my specific requirements is not all the time, but if an AI tool suggests test cases that are most times 90% accurate, then that is a great tool for me.
Inflectra SpiraPlan has other features including detailed reporting and dashboards, customizable workflows, integration with other tools such as Jira, automated test management, and release planning. I would emphasize the integrated workflows because it makes it easy for traceability.
In terms of metrics, a lot of time is saved. Something that takes days, for instance, if we have eight hours a day to work with for five days to finish a project, using Inflectra SpiraPlan, we get to finish our tasks or project within three hours instead of five or eight hours a day. This makes workflow very easy and we get to hit our target before the estimated time.
Since using Inflectra SpiraPlan, we only need to hire fewer resources because it makes the job easy. Before, separate people would write requirements and another would work on test cases, but with Inflectra SpiraPlan, it really makes it easy.
