We performed a comparison between Veritas NetBackup Appliance and Zerto based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Backup and Recovery solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The reporting is very good compared to other tools."
"The tool's most valuable feature is recovery."
"We rarely need their help. I would give their technical support an 8.5 out of ten. We are satisfied."
"NetBackup Appliance's most valuable feature is the duplication encryption standard feature."
"This is a good backup interconversion solution because all the masters and the targets backups are on the same system. It is easy to administrate for a single point of access for clients."
"The most valuable feature of Veritas NetBackup Appliance is duplication and covers many applications."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that it can be used in many different kinds of systems."
"The solution is useful for backups."
"The most valuable feature of Zerto for us is its DR capability."
"The recovery was pretty seamless. It took about a minute for it to kick over when we did our testing. So, it wasn't a long downtime."
"When we replicated our data, I turned up the machine, and it was up in seconds. It blew my mind. I could not believe it."
"The solution's most valuable aspect is allowing a failover from our remote sites to our data center. Our remote sites have failed several times, and on each occasion, we were able to bring a plant back online within 30 minutes, even though the hardware repair took many days."
"One of the valuable features is the ability to re-IP on the fly, because it makes the migration a lot smoother on the system end."
"Its ability to roll back if the VM or the server that you are recovering does not come up right is also valuable. You have the ability to roll back a few seconds or a few minutes. The rollback feature is great."
"I like that Zerto is easy to move and that there is no effect on the user. That is, the user doesn't even know it. We're in the healthcare industry and work for a hospital. We can set up a server in no time whatsoever. It's easy for us to schedule the time because it takes only about one minute."
"We relocated all our virtual machines from Belgium to Budapest, Hungary. I am not sure how we would have done it without Zerto, because we were able to keep the data in sync. We would have needed to have a lot more expensive storage products online at the time that could have kept that replication. From what I have seen from other methods, that would have required a much higher amount of bandwidth as well, then the cost would have been extreme. The mechanisms available to us with a storage space replication would have been more labor-intensive and prone to error. It was much easier and more successful with Zerto than other ways at our disposal."
"I would like to see a product that requires less expertise to manage it."
"It is not easy because I have worked a lot on the tool, and in case it gets corrupted at any point, it is not easy to restore the data without losing information is not easy."
"I would like to see support for databases such as MySQL and MongoDB."
"NetBackup Appliance's pricing is reasonable, but it could be lower."
"The reporting feature can be improved."
"The configuration can sometimes be tricky during implementation."
"The hybrid model is not that efficient if we want to off-site data; it takes a lot of time to upload the data on a regular basis."
"They could simplify the process of installing, and provide more space for data during the process."
"The long-term recovery is a little bit weak in its granularity."
"It would be nice to have the option to do automatic failover, but right now the only option is manual."
"It is expensive."
"The email alerts can be excessive, so better control over frequency or resolution may be a worthwhile improvement."
"The GUI could be streamlined a bit more to enhance the administrative tasks."
"I don't like the evacuation process. The host evacuation process could be a little simpler too. It takes our maintenance a bit longer, when we are doing host maintenance, because we still need to evacuate the vRAs manually. I know they tried to make it more automatic, but it is not quite there yet."
"Zerto can improve the dashboard by making it even more simple. Right now, there's a lot on the dashboard, and it can be overwhelming. If you're an experienced user, then you'll find it easy to use, but if you're a beginner, it will take you some time."
"The problem with the backup product is that it's not very mature and you really need a specific use case to be able to use it effectively. It's hard to explain to our customers, especially our large customers, that the use case is so limited."
