User interface needs refinement while providing robust security and cost management
Xops helps me with cloud finance management by allowing me to monitor my spending, and just a couple of months ago, I noticed that my AWS bill, which usually hovers around 50k monthly, spiked unexpectedly. I received an alert on the dashboard and via email about a sudden increase in usage, enabling me to rectify the actual problem and bring things back to normal. The best features of Xops, in my experience, include the FinOps component for checking unnecessary spending trends, the cloud security features, and the cybersecurity and workload security features that allow me to frequently check for vulnerabilities on images and websites. The cloud security feature of Xops stands out to me because it helps maintain compliance status by providing multiple compliance checks, including ISO and CIS benchmarks, and it is not limited to AWS, as it also includes Azure cloud scans and O365 cloud scans, allowing me to monitor security across various platforms. Other useful features of Xops include asset management tools and automation scripts, which help me check what assets I have across all regions, giving me a global view whenever I need it. Xops has positively impacted my organization by enabling me to save money and proactively detect issues, especially related to cloud spending, while also improving my routine security checks for any misconfigurations. While some metrics are difficult to quantify, I regularly run scans to catch security vulnerabilities that may arise due to changing user settings.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best feature of this product is the ease of use. It is extremely easy to set up and get going. This is a very useful tool for a small organization."
"AT&T AlienVault USM is good for ELK Stack, the user experience is great because of its architecture. The ELK has a great performance and it has very good speed in the search and Kibana. Additionally, the visuals and dashboards and very nice and customizable."
"Log-monitoring and alerting enable us to know when things happen that we need to know about."
"Asset discovery and vulnerability scanner are good features. The integration between this solution and OTX, which is an AlienVault platform for Open Threat Exchange, is also a valuable feature. It is also quick and easy to deploy, so you can quickly engage with a customer's environment."
"It allows for a lot of out-of-the-box features: vuln scanning, HIDS/HIPS, and IDS."
"It has allowed us to see what is happening on our servers."
"The new cloud-based panel is excellent both for client review as well as for our SOC to review and respond to threats. It is much easier to configure and use than the previous solution from AlienVault."
"Any unusual behaviour, we can monitor. We have alerts set up to be sent when we receive signs of any unusual behaviour."
"The most valuable aspects of the solution include the Cloud FinOps Dashboards and the vulnerability scans."
"X-Ops has significantly improved our organization by streamlining cloud cost governance and enhancing the security posture across our AWS trading environment."
"Xops has positively impacted my organization by enabling me to save money and proactively detect issues, especially related to cloud spending, while also improving my routine security checks for any misconfigurations."
"The automated compliance monitoring reduced our manual security audits by 60%, allowing our team to focus on strategic initiatives rather than repetitive checks."

Cons

"The AT&T AlienVault USM is okay, but the relational database is not very good for large amounts of data. For example, many logs cannot be processed. It has been very slow for the queries and some data which are large, it is not very good in this case."
"We've had some stability problems, not a lot, but a few. Updates seem to be the worst. That seems to be when the stability problems come up."
"We develop additional rules and scripts to make it more usable."
"I think plugin management should be self-service on AlienVault USM. The other product is self-service but on the USM side. You have to submit a ticket then AT&T creates and updates the plugins."
"The vulnerability reporting needs to have options to be able to sort or customize the output."
"It would be nice to see some machine learning and monitoring of the configuration in network devices."
"I want to see more compliance management capability. The quality of integrations seems to be a little bit low."
"Maybe logs are the problem, as the database query is too slow. If you want to search something, you need time to find it."
"While Xops delivers on core functionality, the platform could benefit from more mature AI models for anomaly detection."
"I do not have notes for improvements."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is a good value. The key thing is that for the new product, the licensing of it, is subscription-based and it's based on data. Clients need to be really careful when thinking about that, because odds are they're going to need to put a lot more data into it than what they initially estimate, which is going to drive their subscription costs up."
"QRadar, ArcSight and Splunk are some of the most expensive SIEM products out there in the market and not everyone has the budget to buy them. In such cases, AV USM is a very cost effective alternative."
"It has good pricing."
"Do the one month trial and try to work out the kinks during it, as it has free support and service hours."
"They are a little more expensive than Microsoft."
"The vulnerability management solution is worse than buying a Nessus Professional license."
"The licensing fees are dependent on usage."
"Pricing is very competitive with other products and you get much more functionality from AlienVault."
